InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Destined to be with You ❯ Going a different path ( Chapter 4 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

LOLOLOLOLOL Sorry, but this is serious…. Changed a few things… This is only for those who have previously read before the update…

Disclaimer: Everyone of the following characters used in this fic are of no possession of mine… They all belong to Rumiko Takahashi (she's a goddess). If they DID belong to me, I'd be busy doing a bunch of manga and lots of things. Basically, I'd be too busy to be WRITING fics…. XD

Note: This is not SuzumiTenshi writing the fourth chapter. This is YumemiNoUta, her older sister. Why am I doing this? Basically because everyone loves her story, but she doesn't want to die at the hands of raging reviewers that want her to update. She has (gasps) WRITER'S BLOCK!!! Kind of a non-shock, huh? People, I appreciate that if by now, if you haven't died of shock or suffered from a chronic seizure, you are MORE than ready to read a sample of my writing style. Unlike little Suzu-chan here, I type much more differently than she does… Please excuse any abrupt differences… Suzu WILL continue updating and writing her OWN fics, so don't you guys worry your pretty little heads. This is only temporary… I think… ^.^V

Chapter Four

The enrapturing essence of a strong arm embraced her. How it was nice that there was someone to call her name and act so closely with her…

"Kagome…" his lips teased with the trill of her name leaving his smirking lips.

Kagome sensed a hand caress her hair from the side of her cheek. She looked up curiously to find a grinning Naraku only just a few inches away from her own face.

"Hitomi-kun!" she smiled. A soft wave of warmth washed over her.

"Remember what tonight is?" his voice was especially teasing and playful (in a bit of an evil way).

Kagome giggled as he stroked the back of his fingers against her cheek.

"Hai. Of course. Why wouldn't I forget?"

"That's nice to know. I hope to make this one of the most unforgettable nights you will ever have…"

"I won't doubt you on that, Hitomi-kun." At that, she smiled her most brightest smile. Even after so long, with all her spunk and somewhat harsh childhood, her smile was the most innocent anyone had ever witnessed.

Naraku couldn't help but gape in awe as this girl in front of him opened up to him to easily. Her modest grin told of her inexperience in such matters as love.

It really is hard to find such a pure and innocent girl like that these days…

School was already over and many of the young teenagers were walking home. Most of them really consisted of couples that walked side-by-side and were always laughing together. Such a relieving sight to see, although the teachers never really appreciated any kind of intimate relationships among the students.

Any passerby witnessing the relationship with Kagome and the upperclassman would've thought them to be a soft, beautiful couple in love. But the truth was that they were just going for one date, one date to see if they truly could be together.

"I'm so glad that my friends were so comfortable with you. I'd like to meet with your friends too."

Naraku's smile flickered.

"Well, I don't really have a lot of friends, and I'm not sure you would like to meet up with the ones who are even my friends."

Kagome didn't quite get what he was saying. "Huh?"

His smile came back in place. "Never mind. It really doesn't concern you."

With a pat on her head on a quick running finger through her hair, he walked off and disappeared in to the distance. Kagome just stood there, not getting it into her head that he just left. The last thing he said really racked her head. How could someone like Naraku… Was he antisocial?

The whole thing really bothered her. Just thinking about it took so much out of her that she ended up taking a nap as soon as she got home. Her head ached a lot. Her eyelids felt heavy.

I'll just change my clothes first… Then, I can nap…

She barely had her skirt off before she tripped, landed face-forward onto her bed, and enter an enchanting world of sleep.

Ai… Aishi…

What? What are you trying to tell me?

All Kagome could see was a strange white shadow. She found herself to be trapped in a box. It wasn't suffocating, but it was rather a huge black, empty room. Everything was dark. It was starting to be difficult to breathe.

Hel-… help…

I can't help you… until you…

What? Wha-…

Her air was cutting off. The breath in her throat was trapped. Her life was hanging on a line.

Realize… realize… that I lo-

Her eyes burned. The light of her room streamed through her eyes.

"Oh…" she moaned. How long was I sleep?

She looked over to her clock. Only an hour? I need to get started on my project in Art.

Your assignment: make something that symbolizes something meaningful to you.

At her desk, Kagome tapped the head of her pencil on her desktop. She sighed exhaustingly. This was really hard to think over.

What is meaningful to me? Hmm… school? No. My family? That's too common. My country? It's supposed to be something more personal. Maybe…

When she at last, though up a logical idea, Kagome started on a painting. She was new to water painting and working on a canvas. That didn't stop her from expressing her idea.

She moved the easel more over the window sill. The light there was nice. After an hour of sketching and initial painting, the headache returned.

"Great…" she murmured under her breath. Her wrist lazily swung over on her side. A surge of shock drove over her as she witnessed her little bowl of water tilt sideways.

She lunged forward with everything she had.

Got it!

But that wasn't good enough. Kagome felt her heart sink as her canvas toppled off the easel and out the window. All her hard work. She wasn't going to let it go that easily. Her wrist tried its best to recapture it in her open grasp. Soon, she found herself falling out of her window.

There was no use in calling for help since there was no one around. Her grandpa was probably studying old scrolls and her mother was probably occupied with helping Sota with his homework. Kagome whimpered.

It stung badly, but not as badly as she expected. She had expected to crush her painting, but the truth was that she didn't know where it was. Where was it? Her landing spot was unusually soft too. A husky groan sounded out of nowhere got it through her head that she had landed on someone.

"Eh?" She turned to look the person on the face. Without seeing who it was, she scrambled to her feet and bowed deeply.

"Gomen nasai!!!"

The sound of rustling grass gave her the sense that the person she had landed on was getting up. They footsteps were getting louder as they walked closer.

Kagome was standing up straight but didn't dare look the other person in the face.

"I believe this belongs to you." They're voice was deep yet very enriching. From Kagome's view, her canvas was held up to her, completely untouched. She looked up in gratitude, taking the painting in her hand.

"Arigato gozaimasu…" she whispered.

"It suits you very much… The essence of the cherry blossoms sprinkled by the newborn snow…"

She was about to face the man, but something told her not to.

He then placed a hand on he chin and leveled her eyes with his. A gasp left her lips and left them in a state of awe. This man was much like Inuyasha. His translucent gold eyes, the silky platinum blue hair…

"Why did you choose to pick this subject?"

"Huh?" was her dumbfounded reply.

"The painting…" He kept her face close add ran a long fingernail along her jaw.

Am I supposed to answer to this stranger? This stranger that I met just now?

His eyes told a truth though. Those golden eyes. They said that they wouldn't harm her. He wouldn't bite. What was he, a rabid dog?

"The painting resembles what's not really meant to be. How can flowers exist during the early winter? It's like falling in love with someone from the past… It is something that fascinates me."

"You're much of a romanticist?"

"I…" She felt limp in all parts of her body.

"Would you like you to know how I feel about romanticists?" The stare he gave into her eyes was strong and would've been probably used to cut glass.

"What…?" The finger stroking her chin was slowing down its pace and was readying to leave her face.

"I think they are nothing but fools that accomplish nothing… You are too beautiful to waste your youth on something as pathetic as that…"

He walked away, with the steady movement of his hair following behind.

Kagome clutched her painting close to her body as if she wanted to keep close with her valued possession and not let that comment offend her in any way. How dare he say that? Why was he so cruel?

I hope I never come across him again... But he was very beautiful… beautiful indeed.

She went inside to finish up and get some proper sleep.

Somewhere else, off in another person's house, a certain hanyou was busying himself on the telephone. Mostly he just had to (try to) listen to the person on the other end.

"I'm so glad we're back together Inu-kun… I don't know how I ever could've gone on with out you…"

"I know, Kikyou… I realized my feelings a long time ago though… I mean, I thought I did…" he said.

She sighed, as if he hadn't said anything at all.

" You're a very unique person… That's why we belong together, don't you think? We're just two people that were lost and found each other in each other's arms?"

"I… really don't think it's that simple… to love someone so easily like that." Unlike her airy, lovey-dovey tone, Inuyasha was trying his best to be patient and serious with her.

"What do you think then?"

"I think a love should be won… The more the challenge, the more desirable the prize is in the end, right?"

There was a momentary pause.

"I guess so," she murmured thoughtfully.

"Exactly… and that's what I'm about to do." After that statement, he slammed the phone down in its cradle and tried to think of a plan to get a certain someone in to his arms…

Meanwhile, the phone endlessly rang, but no one bothered to pick it up. This was one of the common side effects if you were in the place of the poor guy that dated Kikyou. She would call endlessly asking why and how and what and where… And she wouldn't be the one crying. You would.

It was after dark now. You wouldn't really find a lot of school students out at night. Chances were that they were cramming for school or spending time with their family.

But here in the park, there were two suspicious figures meeting up in the shadows.

"You were actually able to come out at night?" whispered the girl.

"No, I had to sneak out…"

"Why? I don't want you to get in trouble." she said worriedly.

"It's all right… I wanted to see you very much. I trust you."

Their silhouettes combined as one as they embraced in the shadows. The taller figure knelt his head and pressed his lips warmly on her forehead. He brought up his gloved right hand and rested it on her soft hair. How it ached him so badly that he had to keep this secret from her.

"Are there secrets between us?" he asked.

She pulled away, stepping back to look at him.

"Why?"

"I want to know… What is it that you feel towards me?" He stepped forward to show that he meant no harm to her.

"I like you… a lot."

He sighed. That was good news…

"I like you too… will it stay that way?"

"Do you mean, like commitment?"

He shrugged. This kind of thing was really unlike him.

"Well… yes, I mean it… Time is running out for someone like me… and I need to find someone fast."

Her laughter startled him. She was laughing?

"Very funny, how many times have you used that line on girls? You're too much for me sometimes…"

He almost wanted to cry out of pure bliss at that moment. He abruptly took her in his arms, taking her by surprise. His voice shook with happiness and he almost crushed her in his embrace.

"Sango, I love you," he whispered.
