InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Destinies Collide ❯ What are we going to do? ( Chapter 21 )
Thanks to SilverWingedAngel again for the editing job on this chapter!
Ok, I made it back from my trip safe and sound. I'm sorry it took so long to get this chapter out. I hadn't written it before I left and it still needed to be edited once it was written. Anyway, my editor is going on vacation from the 18 till the 30?? I believe that's what she said, so there won't be another post till next month. I'm sorry, you guys are going to have to wait till then!!
Haisha_chan: Why thank you very much! I'll try to make it happier, although I do love being evil!!
InusDemoness: I made it back safe and sound. Had a good time with my brother and then had to come back to work! Hey, its Sesshomaru were talking about, besides I've acted like nothing happened after I threw up, course I was drunk…. Silly!! I just hadn't written this chapter yet. Sorry about the wait.
Miztikal Dragon: Well, I figured a little change in characteristics between Miroku and Sango would go over well. What can I say?
Shadow_Within: LOL!! You are right! No, Kouga didn't rape Kagome. InuYasha scared the living hell out of him though!
Phoenixfire17: You are correct!! There's a reason behind that…
SilverWingedAngel: Aw, thank you so much!! Silly (shakes head)…
Iy lvr: Glad you liked that part!! Well, I'm not really going to tell you what is going on, mostly because I don't know what's going on either. Now that isn't really true…
RockysideofMT: Welcome to the story! Thank you for the review! Hope you like this chapter.
Kitty kitsune: Almost forgot you there, sorry!! That's ok, but it is kind of funny that you kicked your mom off the computer!!
Priestess Kylie_chan: Thank you so much! I'm trying my best to get them together, but some things have to happen and, well, you know….

Destinies Collide
Chapter 21: What are we going to do?
"So, what is she like?" the little, irritating voice asked.
"What is who like?"
"This girl you've been brooding over for the last few weeks! Who is she?"
"I have not been brooding over a girl for the past few weeks!"
"Oh come on! I can see it in your eyes. You're in love with her, aren't you?"
"Grr, if you don't shut your trap, I'll shut it for you!"
"Oh, getting offensive now, aren't we? That proves it. Your in love!"
"Why you little…!"
InuYasha jumped out of his chair and made a lunge toward the little kitsune who had been standing on his desk. As soon as Shippo noticed InuYasha's slight movement, the kitsune had bounded off the desk and darted across the room. InuYasha landed on top of his desk with a bang. He slowly crawled off the desk and searched the room for a certain, soon to be dead, kitsune. An evil grin spread across InuYasha's face as he spotted Shippo and slowly moved around his desk.
Shippo watched InuYasha's movements warily and took a couple of steps back until he found himself become flush against the wall behind him. InuYasha's grin only seemed to grow wider as the hanyou moved in front of the desk and made a b-line straight for the kitsune. Shippo glanced to either side of himself, desperately trying to gauge his options. InuYasha lunged toward Shippo and the kitsune jumped up just as the hanyou came crashing down onto the ground. Shippo jumped over the hanyou and darted out of the door, not once taking a look behind him.
InuYasha had crashed into a particularly bad position. Most of his lower body was on the floor while the rest of his body rested in an upward position on that darn wall. He could hear his back crack as he pushed himself off of both the wall and floor. He stood up on shaky feet and decided that lunging at a kitsune, who had backed himself into a wall, wasn't the best of ideas in the world! He contemplated following the kitsune and wringing the life out of him, but as he took one step toward the door he lost his balance and went crashing back to the floor again.
Darkness quickly surrounded him. A menacing laugh filled his ears and seemed to swim around in his head. He tried in vain to open his eyes, but they disobeyed him. His arms drifted toward his head and he pushed against the floor in a futile attempt to sit up. He felt his arms push against what felt like a solid surface, but the floor seemed to be disappearing below him. Curious, and just a little bit frightened, his eyes finally opened. Darkness greeted him. Now was not the time for this. The laughing grew in intensity and he wasted no time searching his surroundings; he could see anything. He had finally brought himself to a sitting position when the laughing stopped.
"You did not do as I requested of you."
"What?" InuYasha yelled into the darkness.
"You don't need to ask me to repeat what I said. You heard me just fine."
"No, you idiot! I don't understand what you're blabbing about."
"You did not override the subduing spell that was placed on your angel."
"Look you fucking idiot, I don't know how to do that!" InuYasha tried to stand up, but something kept him pinned to the ground. He growled in frustration and slammed his hand onto the floor. The force of his hand hitting the floor caused the object to shatter and fall away leaving InuYasha floating in a dark void. InuYasha looked around for something to grab hold of, but could find nothing in the vast darkness.
"You won't fall. It's alright."
"Huh?"
"You're very irritating. You know that?"
"Look who's talking!"
"Oh that was so mature!"
"Yeah well…"
"Stop it! I've heard enough of both of your bickering! Cut it out!" A female voice shouted causing InuYasha to turn his head toward the sound. Who were these people?
"Ah, but…."
"No buts. InuYasha, you must override the spell on your m… angel. The longer the two of you are apart, the less connected you become. As of this moment, you can barely feel her. Isn't that right?"
"Uh…. Yeah," InuYasha stated just above a whisper. For some reason this girl reminded him of Kagome, but only slightly. He shook his head. No, this girl was nothing like Kagome; at least he hoped Kagome wasn't this commanding.
"So you must get her back. Do whatever it takes. Just get her, mark her, override that subduing spell, and mate her."
"W… What?" InuYasha stuttered for a moment. Who did this girl think she was commanding him to mate and mark a person he barely knew? Although he had been thinking the same thoughts for the past month, but she didn't need to know that!
"You heard her. You only have another couple of weeks before it will be too late. So far, you've been able to keep Kouga off of her, but do you really think he'll stay away for very long. If you don't get her, he will mark and mate with her," the male voice spoke up.
"Grr, shut up! He will never touch her so long as I am alive," InuYasha's growl turned into a full-blown roar. How dare these people tell him such things?
"I suggest you watch your step then. He has no idea that she belongs to you, however, you make the slightest mistake and he will take you down."
"Enough, you must get her. Go back to your home and figure out a way to get her back," the female voice ended the conversation.
Sound flooded into his ears once again. Something or someone was jumping on his back. He cocked his head to the side and let loose a warning growl. The object stopped for a moment, but didn't seem fazed and began jumping once again. This time InuYasha slowly pulled his hands to the side and pushed off of the floor, sending a screaming kitsune crashing to the ground. InuYasha bent down, snaking his hand around Shippo's neck, he pulled the kitsune to eye level and let loose a fierce growl. Shippo began to shake from the force behind that growl. He knew InuYasha was beyond pissed. Why did he decide to come back in and try to wake the hanyou up?
"I'm sor-…"
"Save it. You know what you did deserves punishment."
"But…"
"No buts." With those words, a shiver ran down InuYasha's spine as the words from his dream came flooding back into his being. How was he supposed to get Kagome away from that idiotic wolf? He didn't know. He'd already gone over every possible scenario and couldn't figure out anything that would actually work! He could always burst into Kouga's hide out, punch Kouga's light's out, sling Kagome over his shoulder, and bring her back to the safety of his castle, but he knew that would never work. Kouga had a pack, and they would most likely kill him before he had a chance to escape with Kagome.
InuYasha's hand involuntarily released the kitsune during his musings, which Shippo wasted no time darting from the room and disappearing to some distant corner of the castle in hopes that his older cousin wouldn't come hunting for him. He darted straight past Miroku and Sango as they made their way up to InuYasha's room. Both looked at the blur for a second before shrugging their shoulders and resuming the climb up the stairs. When they reached InuYasha's room, they were startled to find InuYasha standing in the center of the room lost in thought. The hanyou's hand was still in position as if he'd been holding something up.
Sango walked into the room and took up a seat on the far left wall. Miroku thought about getting InuYasha's attention, but then thought better of it. It was better that the hanyou didn't know what was in store for him. Miroku quickly walked around behind InuYasha, once in position he began chanting and it wasn't long before InuYasha fell face first onto the floor. Sango jumped off the chair and helped Miroku move the hanyou to the bed.

The sun slowly slipped behind the distant clouds. Kagome took a deep breath as she watched the magnificent sight unfold before her eyes. It had been a long time since she had seen such a lovely sight and now all she wanted to do was sit there and watch it. She leaned back against the rock wall and brought her knees to her chest. She was sitting just outside the entrance to the cave. It was the furthest Kouga would permit her to go on her own. She sighed again as her thoughts turned to the nightmares she'd been having lately.
She had dreamed of that girl another four or five times. Each dream became more vivid then the last, but she still had no clue as to where the young girl was. She did, however, know who the girl's mate was, not that the information helped her at all! She had no idea who this Sesshomaru character was. During their encounters, it became apparent to Kagome that this girl was pregnant. She wasn't sure how she knew, or even why she knew, but she knew that the information was vital. She had witnessed the girl's tormentor inject her with some kind of liquid. At first, Kagome thought that it was the same thing that she herself had been injected with during her imprisonment, but this liquid was different. The girl would go into convulsions and begin violently throwing up within minutes of the injection. This only made Kagome worried and curious… Could this harm the baby?
She got an answer to her question sooner than she expected. The girl cried out for Kagome to help, to do anything to take the pain away, but Kagome knew she couldn't do anything because the binding left her pretty much powerless. Kagome had the girl explain what she was feeling on the inside, she told the girl that it would help to know what was happening. What came next was a big surprise to Kagome! The girl looked up at her through her bangs, her eyes held a faint red glow and a growl barely erupted from her mouth. Kagome took a step back as the girl lashed out against her binds.
"He's killing the baby! Get my mate here now!"
Kagome snapped her eyes open as she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She stretched for a moment before turning her eyes to see who had disturbed her. Her eyes focused on Ginta as the man looked down with concern shining through his eyes. She blinked once then managed to give him a faint smile before she shifted her attention back to the sunset. Ginta crouched down beside her, leaning against the wall of the cave. They sat in silence for a moment before Ginta spoke up.
"I have an idea."
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
She brought her head up and leaned it against the back wall. Whatever was in those injections was taking its toll on her body. She was pretty sure she had thrown up everything that was ever in her small body and that there was nothing left. She hadn't eaten since she had gotten here and the effects were slowly wearing on her body. What made it worse was when she figured out just what her capture had in mind when he injected her with that horrid liquid; she knew he was out to kill her baby. Yes, she now knew that she was pregnant, not that the knowledge did her much good. At the rate everything was going, the baby would most likely die within a day's time.
She brought her head forward and slammed it back against the wall. Why did this have to be? Why couldn't she live in peace with Sesshomaru and their child? She wanted nothing more than to be wrapped in his tight embrace as he told her that everything would be all right. She closed her eyes as her mind sought out Sesshomaru's. She had tried this before, but her attempts were made in vain. He never answered her calls and she could only hope that the girl who came to visit her would figure out who Sesshomaru was and lead him to her.
"Sesshomaru, where are you? I need you…", she cried out into the darkness of her cell.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
His head jerked up as the sound of his name hit his sensitive ears. He glanced around the room trying to figure out where the voice had come from. His gaze drifted to his desk and his hands that were still circled on top of some papers he had been looking at. He sighed as he realized that he must have fallen asleep. He sat up and swiveled his chair to face the windows. The sun was setting and it felt as if his heart was setting with it. He couldn't stand to live another day knowing that his mate was somewhere that prevented him from finding her.
The sound of his name hit his ears again causing him to search the room for the source of the voice. There was no one in the room and he could feel that the closest person to him was Jaken, but he was down on the first floor, in the kitchen no doubt, trying to rustle up some food for his master. Sesshomaru sighed and returned his attention to the windows. He was going crazy; he just knew it. The voice hit his ears once again, but this time he heard the rest of what it was trying to tell him.
"Sesshomaru, where are you? I need you…"
Sesshomaru bolted out of his seat as realization sank in. Rin was trying to get in touch with him. His Rin was still alive and needed his help. He hit his knee on the desk as he quickly stood up and walked toward the window.
"Rin," he shouted. "Where are you? Tell me where you are!"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
"Grr, Miroku, Sango, let me go right this instant!" InuYasha growled.
Miroku sat back in a chair across the room from the enraged hanyou. So, InuYasha had somehow managed to bring himself out of the trance that Miroku had put him in! The question remained as to how InuYasha had done it. It was a good thing that Miroku had magically bound the hanyou just before he came out of the trance. Now both Sango and Miroku sat across the room from the hanyou in hopes that he wouldn't break through the binds and charge after them for attempting to hypnotize him.
"Calm down InuYasha. We meant no harm."
"Yeah right! Just wait till I get free, you'll both be dead meat."
"Which is the precise reason that we wish to keep you where you're at for the moment."
"Miroku…", InuYasha said letting a growl enter into his voice.
"InuYasha, we need to talk about Kagome." Sango leaned forward in her seat and rested her elbows on her legs, resting her head on her hands.
InuYasha's eyes flashed red for a second before he calmed himself down and shot a gaze to Sango. "What for?"
"Well… for starters… How are we going to get her away from Kouga?"
"You're asking me? I can't believe this." He shifted his head toward the ceiling.
"Well…"
"Were not!"
Both Miroku and Sango shot to their feet and glared at InuYasha. "What do you mean, `were not'?" They both yelled at the same time, but neither seemed to notice.
InuYasha took a deep breath. "Look… I want to get her away from that bastard as much as both of you do, but I… can't…", he let his last thoughts drift into the wind. How could he possibly tell them that this entire predicament scared him? He rolled his head to the side opposite Miroku and Sango's accusing gazes. Why couldn't they just leave him alone? He needed to be alone to think this thing through.
"I see…" Miroku sat back in his chair, crossing his left leg over his right and placing his elbows on his knees, head resting in his hands.
Sango turned slightly and watched Miroku sit down. Was everyone crazy except her? She returned her attention to InuYasha for a moment before she shrugged her shoulders, made a rather loud sighing sound, and slumped back into her seat. Her movements caught the attention of both males and they turned their attention to her. She stared at the floor, not noticing two sets of eyes staring at her. She didn't care, she just wanted to help, but at the moment, there was nothing that she could do and it aggravated her.
After staring at Sango for a lengthy amount of time, both boys returned their attention to where it had been previously. Silence lingered in the enclosed space. All three occupants were so lost in their own thoughts that one could hear a pin drop had someone dropped one. Miroku shifted uncomfortably in his seat and settled back against the wall. He couldn't help the underlying feeling that something was wrong. He let his head fall back against the wall and his eyes slip closed. Maybe if he concentrated for a few minutes, he would find the reason for his most recent misgivings.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
"Idea?" She said it rather slowly as if she couldn't quite understand the meaning behind the word.
He sighed, leaning his head against the cave wall. "Yes, although its not a very thought out one. If only we could work out certain details, then it might work."
"What are you talking about?" She swung her head around and stared at him.
"Shh!" He put his finger to his lips and swung his head around to look at the entrance to the cave hoping that no one was within hearing range. To his relief, there seemed to be no one in the general vicinity, but that didn't mean that they couldn't eavesdrop on the conversation. Certain people didn't need to hear what he was about to tell Kagome. He returned his attention to her only to look straight into the funniest face that he had ever seen on anyone, let alone Kagome! He laughed, he couldn't help it; it was just too funny!
She watched as he told her to keep quiet. What on earth was he trying to tell her? Was it possible or even conceivable that he was going to help her out? No… there was no way that would ever happen no matter how much of a friend he had become. He turned around sharply as if expecting someone to be standing right behind him. She giggled at that, but fought back the laughter that wanted to erupt. Instead of laughing, she sat to looking puzzled, but as he turned back around, her expression was more of a mixture of surprise, puzzlement, and to top it all off, she was trying to keep herself from laughing.
He erupted into a fit of giggles that finally sent her over the edge of her control and she soon joined him. By the time Kouga had wandered outside to find out what all the laughing was about, the two could barely talk. Ginta kept pointing at Kagome and then he would burst into another round of giggles; Kagome would just stare back at him and erupt into her own fit of giggles at the same time. Kouga came to stand directly behind Ginta, who was currently holding his stomach as he rocked back and forth on the ground still laughing quite hard. Kouga crossed his arms over his chest and patiently waited till the two of them realized that someone had caught them.
They came around after a good twenty minutes and finally Kagome's eyes drifted to Kouga's; she swallowed as her eyes met his. The look on his face was one that promised she would be getting subdued a good number of times tonight and it didn't make her happy at all. She quickly averted her eyes from him and stared at the ground. Ginta had noticed Kouga's presence and had quickly returned his attention to Kagome. Oh how he wanted to help her! She looked like a little puppy that knew that she was in for a beating. He sat up quickly and made a motion to stand up when Kouga's command cut him off.
Kouga barked one time in a high-pitched bark that was only met to discipline unruly pups or mates. He watch in utter shock and excitement as Kagome slowly rose to her feet, keeping her head down, and moved past him, entering the cave. Ginta sprang to his feet and tried to walk past Kouga, but Kouga grabbed his shoulders and pushed him into the side of the cave wall.
"What do you think you are doing with my mate?"
"She's not your mate Kouga. Get over it already."
Kouga slammed Ginta into the wall once again. "I'll have you know that she is my mate. Don't think I haven't noticed how the two of you have become all chummy. If you think I don't know what's going on, you're sadly mistaken."
"There's nothing going on Kouga. Honestly! She just needs someone to talk to. That's all. Can't you give the girl a little privacy?"
"She will get some privacy once she allows me to mate her properly. Until then, she will be kept within my range at all times. The furthest she is allowed to stray from me is the limit of my hearing."
"Kouga, you're suffocating her. She needs some time to herself. At least let her take a bath alone for once."
"She bathes with the other females of the pack. I see that fit enough. If she wishes to go alone, then I will accompany her."
"That's not privacy!"
Kouga slammed Ginta against the wall once more. "I'll decide what's best for her! You keep away from her! Don't let me see you trying to talk to her behind my back… I'm not stupid." With that, Kouga released Ginta and briskly walked into the cave.
Ginta took a step off of the wall he had been forced upon by Kouga. Kouga didn't know anything. All that sexual tension of not being able to mate with Kagome sure made Kouga one hell of a grumpy wolf demon. Ginta shook his head; he had more important things to worry about. The top of the list involved Kagome. How was it that she understood Kouga's barking command? He sat down, leaning against the side of the cave and set to thinking about what this new turn of events could mean.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
"Sesshomaru….!" She yelled out into the vast darkness of space. Where was he? Could he even hear her cries? She couldn't help but feel as though he wanted her gone, that perhaps he had conspired with her tormentor to get rid of the child that was growing within her womb. That last thought had come to her suddenly. She wasn't sure what had made her think that, but she was pretty sure that it was a combination of the beatings and the injection.
Her tormenter had come in a few hours ago and she was still feeling the ill effects of his visit. Her body seemed to be taking the injections better, but she would still go into convulsions. Throwing up now consisted of bile and blood, since there was nothing else left in her delicate stomach. The beatings became worse as the days wore on. She was pretty sure that he was trying to break her into tiny little pieces. Apparently, her tormenter was angry with her. She didn't know what she had done to him. She couldn't do anything; she was chained up, naked, and locked in some room in the middle of nowhere, as far as she could tell. So, how could she possibly harm him? She jerked her head up as she heard the tell tale signs of her tormenter returning.
He walked slowly into the room and meandered over to the left side of the room. A petit female followed after him and came to stand in the center of the room. She glanced at the man and turned her attention back to the fragile captive once the man nodded his head. The female studied Rin for a moment before taking the few short steps it required to be within touching distance of the captive. She bent down and extended her hands toward Rin, who flinched and tried to back away. A loud growl came from the left corner of the room and instantly Rin stiffened. The female continued on till she was on the same level as Rin and her hands were hovering just within grasp of Rin.
The female closed her eyes and Rin began to feel power radiating from the girl's hands. After a few minutes, the female slowly moved her hands down Rin's body, stopping just over her womb, where the hands lingered for quite a while. Rin watched the hands, as the power seemed to increase and intensify. What was this girl doing? A burning sensation ripped through Rin's stomach. She lurched forward till the chains adorning her wrists caught her and held her above the ground. The female moved back slightly from the movement but continued her assault. Rin screamed as the pain intensified. She felt as if her insides were being ripped out piece by piece.
"It's as you expected. She has a barrier around the child."
"Get rid of it!"
"Certainly."
Kikyo pushed herself forward, pushing Rin back against the wall. Once Rin was leaning against the wall, Kikyo placed her hands on Rin's stomach and began chanting. Rin's eyes widened. There was a barrier around her child? Who had put it there? Another wave of pain sent Rin thrashing against her binds and a scream vibrating from her throat.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *~*~*~
A scream pierced the night sky, then faded as it slowly echoed from the cell of the now unconscious girl... Not a soul heard her cry of pain, but off in the distance another scream echoed back in equal pain and anguish... They were not alone…
