A dawning light shown down on Kagome and Inuyasha sleeping faces. The suns rays scanned across Inuyasha eyes making him flinch in discomfort. Inuyasha always hated sunlight…

It was so bright and ruin his shuteye. He cracked one of his blinded eyes open and studied his surroundings. Dark walls surrounded him as musty smells rushed into his nose. He snapped his other eye open registering his surroundings. Memories flooded back into his mind of the night before. Boy were they joyous.

He looked down at his chest to see his mate, Kagome nestled into his chest comfortably sleeping like a baby. Her nude figure covered by Inuyasha cloths was only that much more seducing. One of her bare breast hung out leaving Inuyasha in a tempting position.

If she didn't wake up soon and scolded him from his man-like behaviors he'd be all over her in a few seconds.

“Inuyasha…” She mummers in her sleep unaware of the hanyou gocking over her. He cocked his eyebrow in question.

What was she dreaming of?

Inuyasha sat up and pulled the long raven lock out of Kagome's face. His chest was bear and the morning sunlight highlighting the toned ridges. His whole body was firm and muscular. After all his battles remaining scars could be seen on his body. Though it did not lessen the majesty of him. It only captured how strong he actually was.

Kagome fluttered her eyes open dreading the fate of this day. She let a small smile crack her solemn face as Inuyasha kissed her cheek.

“Good morning.” Welcomed Inuyasha.

“Good morning to you too, love.” Kagome greeted pleasantly. She sat up pulling Inuyasha's hoari to cover her nude body.

“Have a good sleep?” Inuyasha question kindly.

“Yes, but I had a better night.” She smirked as blood rushed to her cheeks. Inuyasha chuckled sweetly.

His face became emotionless reminding Kagome so much of Sesshoumaru.

…

“He's coming…” Inuyasha said coldly getting a good whiff of his half brother's scent in the air.

“Now?” Kagome exclaimed eyeing her more than attractive mate.

“Aye…Hurry get dressed. He'll already be able to smell this, but I'd rather him not see it.” Inuyasha ordered as Kagome nodded. Using the haori as a towel she dressed quickly and handed it back to Inuyasha.

Inuyasha was against wearing the thing, it was covered with the scent of mating and arousal. It would just give another reason for Sesshoumaru to scold him.

“I'm not ready Inuyasha, I can't do this. I'm gonna die.” Kagome whimpered.

“No you're not! Wench listen to me!” Inuyasha snapped.

“I don't have much of a choice not to…” Kagome muttered under her breath.

“Wench I heard that!” Inuyasha growled.

“Sorry…” Kagome mumbled to her mate insincerely.

“Now who managed to find all the jewel shards and still go to that hell whole you call school?!” Inuyasha exclaimed.

“Me…?” Kagome mumbled disappointed in the point Inuyasha had made.

“Now who defeated Naraku single handedly?” Inuyasha questioned again.

“Me! But I don't remember it!”

“That doesn't matter! You still did it!” It was rare for Inuyasha to be so encouraging. But today was an exception.

“Maybe…” muttered Kagome.

“Now you are going to kill Sesshoumaru, you hear me Kagome. You will kill him and you will be okay doing so…” Kagome turned away trying to ignore the hope of Inuyasha. She lowered her head in fear. She didn't think she could do this… She was so scared.

“For me…” Inuyasha finished walking up to her wrapping his strong arms around her fragile body.

“For you,” She gulped.

“With your daggers…” Kagome reminded herself fiddling with the two daggers tied onto her sides. She had had them there since they'd left the village.

“Now lets go find Sesshoumaru and finished what we'd started long ago.” Inuyasha demanded leading his mate out of the sun-drenched cave.

“Won't he come to us?” Kagome whined but in reality she was begging Inuyasha not to make her go.

“He will… but right now I don't really care!” Inuyasha snapped.

`But I do…' Kagome though to herself. Things raced through her mind that never even came to her before. If she died who would tell her family. What would her mother think? Would she be okay?

She knew how dearly her mother cared for her. And Kagome cared for her mother just as much. If she ever lost her she didn't know what she'd do. Though one day, on dreadful day it would happen. Her mother would pass on and Kagome would have no one as close as her mother to depend on.

The sun scorched them as they exited the cave. The skies were not filled with musty gray clouds but the complete opposite. The radiant turquoise only could give off the hope they needed.

The rare hope that would live on in Kagome's heart.

Kagome's head spun around every which way as she observed everything she could. She couldn't take it if she was to die and not rejoice the beauty of the earth… and her beautiful mate. His radiance was as great as the sky it's self.

His glowing ember eyes.

His long flowing sliver hair.

His muscular toned body that would hold Kagome so dear.

And to think that all that could be lost because the heartless Sesshoumaru and her death. Kagome knew so well Inuyasha, now that he knew and loved Kagome, he was nothing was without her.

He couldn't stay mad at her for more than a day. He couldn't leave her without something behind.

They kept walking down the sandy pathway as Inuyasha sniffed the air here and there to focus on his half brothers scent. Kagome spent the silent minutes humming a solo tune as Inuyasha smile at it. Her voice was so beautiful to him. It was almost like his mother voice.

No- - It was exactly like his mother's voice.

So soft and gentle but at the same time comforting and protective.

Now if only she could sing the lullaby his mother used to sing. At the moment she was singing some kind of modern song. It wasn't at all familiar to the half-demon.

“Kagome stop humming that.” Inuyasha ordered sharply.

“Oh sorry is it bugging you?” She replied with sympathy.

“No it's just could you sing something else?” Inuyasha suggested.

“Is there something you'd rather me sing?” Kagome questioned.

“No…” Inuyasha quieted himself. She wouldn't know that lullaby.

The song slowly flowed back into Inuyasha mind as he couldn't help but hum it. It was so beautiful. The tone the notes the words…

Dreaming of a perfect world

“Inuyasha you're humming!” Kagome smirked.

“Uh sorry…” A magenta tint came across Inuyasha face.

“No don't stop what are you humming?” Kagome questioned sweetly enlightened by her hanyou's soft side.

“Just something…” Inuyasha replied trying to redirect the topic.

“Where did you learn it?” Kagome propped.

“My mother…” Inuyasha responded softly.

“Sing it.”

“Wha-!? No!” Inuyasha exclaimed shocked by his mate's question.

“Please... I wanna hear it.” Kagome whined giving Inuyasha the desperate lies.

“Fine…”Inuyasha mumbled back. And in the softest tone Inuyasha could use, he sang.

“ Dreaming of a perfect world

Can only be reinforced by those who will hate

And no matter what they tell you little child

I love you and unchosen fate

Anytime you're sad

I will comfort you in your dreams”

“It's a lullaby?”

“Yea…” Inuyasha responded dryly. In perfect imitation Kagome sang back the lullaby. She could always remember words so quickly.

“ Dreaming of a perfect world

Can only be reinforced by those who will hate

And no matter what they tell you little child

I love you and unchosen fate

Anytime you're desperate

Anytime you're sad

I will comfort you in your dreams” She sang softly.

“How did you learn it so fast?” Inuyasha asked puzzled.

“I'm not sure… I just can learn song really fast. But I know this one I'll remember forever.” Kagome replied.

“Aye. Same with me.” Kagome let out a worn smile after Inuyasha spoke. Taking one more whiff of the air Inuyasha's ear perked up.

“Sesshoumaru.” He barked coldly. An then and there Sesshoumaru was seen in the distance. His silver hair blowing in the air. His long heirloom of his father whip around him it was clear he was smiling.

Such of a usual thing for him to do yet he was doing it still.

“Sesshoumaru!” Kagome repeated a few moments after with a hint of fear croaked in his voice.

“Well my half brother and his wench…” Sesshoumaru said coldly with the same smile still plastered across his face as he approached close enough to be heard.

“Shutup bastard!” Said Kagome. It was too strange now that she was the one back talking to Sesshoumaru. Inuyasha couldn't help but feel a little less significant.

“I agree… Lets close of god forsaken mouths and start whatever you plan.” He smirked unveiling his Tokijin. Kagome responded by unsheathing her daggers holding them close to her face.

It was now…

Now or never.

She could either kill Sesshoumaru or die herself. And it was clear which one she wanted.

Kagome took one step forward and Sesshoumaru dove forward slashing his sword. Feeling everything intense she moved just in time to dodge the attack with on a scratch. Inuyasha couldn't believe what was happening.

He yanked out his sword and rushed towards Seshoumaru in pure anger. He was only acquaintanced with a blue shocking barrier whipping him back.

“Foolish brother, You can not lay a finger on me nor your precious mate. As long as Kikyo and Midoriko souls remain without the forth soul then you can not help her.” Sesshoumaru laughed coldly not paying attention.

Opening the chance of injuring Sesshoumaru, Kagome stood up and drove herself towards him. Unable to sense her power her blade scraped his right shoulders as Kagome fell to the ground and Sesshoumaru flinched.

Bowing her head down something comes over Kagome. A soul ready to emerge. Unable to contact his brother's precious mate or touch Sesshoumaru goes after Inuyasha.

Unprepared and unable to harm Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha can only heave the hard slash of his brother's blade.

“INUYASHAAAA!!” Kagome bellowed snapping out of her trance like state.

“I'm fine… Kagome…. fight him…” Inuyasha reassured in lie. He wasn't okay. Sesshoumaru's sword had driven into Inuyasha's stomach.

“You may think your fine little brother but you will not be now!” Sesshoumaru snapped stabbing his brother in the neck once more as he collapses to the ground blood heaping from his wounds.

“INUYASHAA!” Kagome screamed again agonizing pain rushing through her voice.

Blue rushes through her eyes. She stood up regaining herself and her strength.

“I will KILL you.” She exclaimed gritting her teeth.

“I'd like to see you try miko…” Sesshoumaru replied bitterly.

“I was hoping it wouldn't come to this…but now you've crossed the line…” Kagome spat out.

With that a blur of blue moved through her as she had found her true power.

“My forth soul can emerge.” Kagome said with 4 voice combined with her own.

“Kami himself.” She snapped. Sesshoumaru's eyes widened as Kagome's body began to rise. Winds around her began to swirl. A heavy moaning sound created by the wind it's self was heard.

“DIE!” She screamed and with that fully conscious. Cerulean, ivory and silver light beamed onto Sesshoumaru as he only disappeared into the evil dust he was.

“You paid for you needed to…” Kagome said and with that she began to gently fall to the ground. When her two feet securely touched the ground she rushed over tot he lying body that blood surrounded. Inuyasha was breathing heavy but still awake. He needed to hang on, he needed to tell Kagome the one thing to defy her destiny.

“Inuyasha!” Kagome exclaimed her face now stained with tears. She embraced her love as blood from his wounds soaked her cloths.

“We have to get you to the village.”

“No.” Inuyasha said coldly.

“Come on get up your gonna LIVE!” Kagome demanded as Inuyasha lay there without an effort to rise.

“No Kagome… I love you but I am not going to make it this time.”

“Yes you are! Don't say that!” Kagome screamed not listening to nonsense escaping from her hanyou's mouth.

“No Kagome… I will be leaving soon.” Inuyasha replied. Kagome stop struggling finally seeing the truth in Inuyasha's words.

“You can't do this. You're coming back!” Kagome barked strongly.

“Yes…” And with that he smiled. Sakura petals fell upon them. They were alone and for there last time. The earth stood still for moments…

Just for them…

“I only leave you to return…” He said calmly in intelligence. With all the strength he had he placed his hand on Kagome's stomach.

“I will be returning in 9 months time.” Inuyasha explained staring at Kagome stomach knowing what would happen to it. She gulped losing her voice to talk. She couldn't say anything…

She was pregnant with his child…

And now he was dying

He couldn't die…

“Take care…” Blood started bestowing out of his mouth making it hard for him to finish his sentence.

“Of yourself. For the baby's sake.” Kagome held back more sobs as silent tears fell down her face. Yet she remained quiet listening to her mates last words.

“Promise me that Kagome? I love you-you -you…good bye…” Inuyasha said and closed his eyes, Kagome started rattling him but knew he wouldn't awake.

“Good…” She sniffled.

“Bye… I promise I will take care of the baby.” She said to the dead figure lying on the ground. She toppled onto her dead mate balling her eyes. She couldn't help but not hear her friend in the distance.

…

“Kagome…” Sango muttered placing her hand on her shoulder. Shippou sniffled tears watching Kagome so hurt. He'd never seen her like this.

Never…

Inuyasha was now gone and tear flowed from everyone. He may have been cock, arrogant but he was loyal and loving and would sacrifice himself for the people he loved any day.

“We're here for you…” Miroku said holding his children cooing them to sleep with his own tears.

Kagome pulled her head up and began to sing…

“Dreaming of a perfect world

And it was that song that she would remember forever.
