“Inuyasha, why aren't you with your parents?”

 

“I don't know Mister Shinta… the left me one day at an orphanage but I didn't like that place so I ran away”

 

“And how do you survive?”

 

“Stealing is my only option, I'm not proud of it but it helps me”

 

“Would you like to come with me? I'll help you… just like I helped Naraku”

 

“Thank you Mister Shinta”

 

“Just call me Shinta, Yash”

 

He woke up agitated; his breathing was heavy and rapid. He looked around the place, white walls, quiet and he was in an unknown room. The last thing he remembered was being at Kagome's room as she cried for him. He looked down to his arm and noticed a plastic lace attached to his arm, he pulled it out and he was about to get up when he felt some pain on his arm. He checked it and saw his arm with 5 stitches; he looked around the room again and noticed it was a hospital.

 

“Kagome” was the first thing that he thought of saying; he heard some footsteps and saw Kikyo entering his room.

 

“The girl just left, I crashed with her at the hallway” she sat next to him on the bed and Inuyasha immediately got up. “Where are you going?”

 

“Out” He said and looked for his clothes; Kikyo stood up and closed the door along with the curtains.

 

“Yash… I was very scared when I heard a gunshot last night and even more when I knew that Naraku shot you” he rolled his eyes as he placed his jeans. “You were there for her necklace, weren't you?”

 

“Of course I was there for that… what else could I be looking for? You?” she smiled and he rolled his eyes again. “Don't flatter yourself, you aren't important to me anymore…”

 

“Oh, and that bitch is… right?” he folded the sleeves of his T-shirt to hide the hole the bullet had made. “Answer me Inuyasha”

 

“Maybe…” he smirked and walked out; Kikyo followed him from not far behind. “Your bastard must be worried for you”

 

“No, he sent me to check on you… he wouldn't want one of his money entries to get hurt” they walked out and he lighted up a cigarette he found on his pocket. “What happened to the gentlemen who used to ask me if I wanted a cigarette?”

 

“What happened to the girl who didn't cheat me?” she laughed and entered to her BMW.

 

“Want a ride? I can leave you at your place” she offered and he shook his head.

 

“No thanks, I'd like to walk” she got angry and scoffed.

 

“Suit yourself”

 

He laughed as he watched her leave so furious; he looked at the wound the bullet had caused in his arm. He hissed when he looked the severe injure it had made that shot; Inuyasha mentally cursed Naraku for aiming at his arm instead of hitting the wall. He looked at the hour; it was almost time for Kagome's school to end. He went to his apartment and changed his T-shirt to look good for her, Inuyasha wasn't sure if she had forgave him or not but he still wanted to be wit her, it was some kind of need. `Ever since I kissed her… I've been like under her spell, there's nothing else I think about… Kagome, Kagome, Kagome… she's always in my mind' Inuyasha thought and finally saw her coming out from her school, at the sight of her he immediately smiled. She was radiant, her black hair was moving due to the soft wind blowing, she had a warm smile on her face but Inuyasha's smile faded when he saw her holding hands very romantically with another man. `Wake up idiot… good things don't happen to people like you' he reminded himself and let out a heavy sigh as he walked away.

“What's wrong Kagome?” Kouga asked as he let her hand go, she looked at the silver haired man who was walking away.

 

`Could it be…? But he was at the hospital and… no, it can't be Inuyasha… he would never come to see me at my school unless I ask him to' she thought and shook her head slowly as her eyes followed that man.

 

“Nothing… I'm sorry, I let my thoughts carry me” she let out a dry giggle. “What were we talking about again?”

 

“The spring queen?” she nodded. “And how you were running for queen?”

 

“What?! I'm not doing that!” she laughed. “I'm everything but a trophy girl; I will not be a Stepford wife in my future”

 

“Who says you'll be? All I'm saying is that maybe you should run for queen this year… I know you'll win” she blushed and looked away a little embarrassed.

 

“I'm flattered, really but I don't want to…” she looked at the hour, Kouga grabbed her hand again. “Why are you always trying to hold my hand?”

 

“I don't know… I like the way you hold my hand, it's relaxing and warm…” she blushed as he tightened his hold and she smiled, she pulled away her hand.

 

“Everything you are telling me is very nice and you really know how to smooth talk but as unbelievable as it is… I have to go now, I'm going to visit a friend at the hospital” he nodded and kissed her cheek softly.

 

“Don't worry babe, we can talk about how you're running for spring queen tomorrow at lunch…” she rolled her eyes and smiled.

 

“I'll think about it” he quickly pressed his lips against hers, giving her a soft peck. She was amazed but didn't mention a thing.

 

“Great, till tomorrow at lunch… I'll count the seconds” she giggled and he left.

 

The wind blew softly on her hair, she walked slowly back to her home. Her mother would make many questions about the towels drenched in blood, she sighed, she didn't know what else to invent. Kagome touched the necklace lightly, she smiled. Inuyasha had gone through many troubles to bring her back that tiny thing, she felt she was selfish. `I never stop to think about him… I'm always worrying about myself, never about him not even after he told me everything he has been through… I'm a lousy friend' Kagome let the necklace go and moved the hair over her eyes back, she kept on walking and finally got to her house. Her mother was seating in the kitchen as if she was waiting for her, Kagome gulped and her mother pointed the chair in front of her. She sat and her mother sighed.

 

“I don't mean to find out what happened last night, but I do know it was that boy who came the other day” Kagome watched her a bit amazed.

 

“Inuyasha?” her mother nodded.

 

“I don't care what he's into… but I don't want you to see him again” Kagome got up from her chair.

 

“What? Mom! That's unfair! You don't even know him!” her mother shook her head.

 

“What I saw in your room today was more than enough to let me know what kind of man he is… I don't want you to get in troubles Kagome” she folded her arms and looked away.

 

“There's nothing wrong with him… he's only my friend” Kagome felt someone pat her shoulder softly and heard a long sigh.

 

“I know he's only your friend sweetie, it's not you who I don't trust… it's him… I don't know what kind of things he does or if he takes drugs or…” Kagome got annoyed.

 

“Mom, Inuyasha is not like that” her mother sighed again.

 

“Maybe, but until I'm sure… I forbid you to see him, end of discussion Kagome… go to your room” she looked at her mother furious and went to her room as her mother ordered.

 

Kagome pulled out her ipod and connected it to her speakers; she raised the volume high and pulled out a few books. She changed from her school uniform to a jean and a white tank top. Kagome looked out from her window and went down from her room to the back yard with the help of a tree. She jumped off it when she was near the ground, cleaned her hands with the help of her jeans and walked out her yard as she tried to avoid her mother. `I'm not a girl anymore, I know how to take care of myself…' she thought as she walked to Inuyasha's workshop. When she arrived she saw him changing his T-shirt, having for a brief moment a good look of his abs.

 

“Hey you” she looked at him with a soft smile on her lips, he was amazed to find her there.

 

“How did you know I was out of the hospital and working?” she shrugged her shoulders.

 

“I thought I saw you coming to my school… I guess that was just part of my mind telling me you were already out the hospital” she faded her smile as she walked closer to him; she let out a deep sigh. “I was very scared, I thought you might die”

 

“I would never leave you” she looked at him and smiled again.

 

“I know, you told me so… and even if you didn't… I would have know” he embraced her and she felt like crying, she had been so scared that feeling him so close made her want to hug him forever.

 

“I was so scared” she repeated as she tried not to cry. “Don't ever do something like that again Inuyasha… I…”

 

“Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt you Yash” Bankotsu cut her words and Inuyasha cursed him mentally. “And… I didn't know you were with her…”

 

“Hey Bankotsu” Kagome said as she pulled away from Inuyasha's arms, she sniffed and tried her best to smile.

 

“Don't worry you two, I'll leave immediately” he grabbed his tool box and went back to his work. Kagome looked at Inuyasha with a soft smile, he moved closer to her giving her a small kiss on the lips.

 

“I think I'll go now…you're working and I don't think I should interrupt you, besides my mom will kill me when she finds out I escaped from the house” he looked at her confused but before he could start interrogating her she kissed his lips again and left. “Bye”

 

Inuyasha went out to help Bankotsu, he was cleaning a limousine and Inuyasha started helping him. He couldn't help showing a goofy smile, he was feeling very happy after knowing that Kagome had in fact seen him, but then why didn't she leave that man and came to him? He was curious about that but decided to leave that question for some other time. Bankotsu stared at him for a while, when Inuyasha finally realized what he was doing he punched his friend's shoulder a little and Bankotsu chuckled.

 

“What?” he asked.

 

“If you're falling in love with me, I thought it might be time to let you know I'm not gay” Bankotsu laughed.

 

“How did you win her?” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

“She's not a trophy… but she looks like one, she's gorgeous… isn't she?” he sighed dreamily and Bankotsu nodded.

 

“Yeah… she is…” he said it as if he was jealous of his friend, he threw the handkerchief he used to clean the limousine. “I'm gonna get change… it's almost time for us to go out, wanna grab a beer?” Inuyasha sighed and nodded unsure.

 

“Yeah… I'll catch you at the bar” Bankotsu nodded and left.

 

“You…” Inuyasha heard someone call behind him, he looked over his shoulder and found Miroku. “You were right”

 

“What?” he asked confused and Miroku sighed.

 

“Naraku always gets what he wants” Inuyasha looked at him with pity. “He also wants you to visit him, right now”

 

“The necklace I stole, right?” he nodded. “What if I refuse to go?”

 

“I think Kagome will suffer the consequences” Inuyasha closed his eyes and clenched his fists, he tried to hold back his anger and once he finally managed to do it, he sighed. “I'll be there in a few minutes… I'm sorry to ask something as cruel as this but, what did he do for you to agree?”

 

“He threatened to tell Sango about my past” Miroku walked away and Inuyasha sighed, Naraku was a bastard and felt even worst when he decided to visit him because he knew that if he didn't go, Kagome would suffer.

 

He went to find Bankotsu but the only thing he found was his messed things, he was a bit surprised, he knew Bankotsu liked to fix his things perfectly before leaving. He walked outside and lighted up a cigarette. He was smoking to ease his doubts and troubles; it was the only way in which he could feel his pain fading away for a few minutes or at least for the time that cigarette lasted.

 

“That thing kills, you know…” Kagome said and he looked at her dazed.

 

“What are you still doing here? I thought you said you were going back home…” she shrugged her shoulders and walked next to him.

 

“I was… but then I thought, why return when I'm already out? And… I wanted to make sure you were going to be okay tonight” he smiled and grabbed her hand.

 

Inuyasha started walking with her; she smiled at him sweetly as he tightened his grip. Soon, he heard some footsteps behind him. He looked back for a second and saw two men behind him; he grabbed Kagome's hand harder and fastened his pace. Kagome didn't understand what was going on, but decided to walk as fast as Inuyasha did. She was getting scared, she looked back and found 6 men following her and gulped hard. Each time, things with Inuyasha seemed to get worst. Inuyasha couldn't lose them, it seemed to be impossible, he started running away from them but found himself and Kagome in a closed alley.

 

“What do you want?” Inuyasha asked the 5 men.

 

“Don't play innocent with us…” one of them said.

 

“You know we don't come for you…” the other replied.

 

“It's the girl we are searching for, our chief's orders” finished another.

 

“You'll take her over my dead body” Inuyasha warned and moved closer to Kagome's ear. “When they come to get me… run”

 

“But…” she whispered and he looked at her serious.

 

“Run” she nodded and looked at the men.

 

“Planning something?” A man with a girlish voice asked and he giggled. “You won't be getting away from us, I guarantee that”

 

“Really? Let's find out… bring it on” the 5 men ran to start the fight to Inuyasha while Kagome tried to run.

 

Inuyasha was handling the 5 guys with no problem, he hit one while he dodge the other's attack. The man with girlish voice was stronger than he thought, while the other 4 lay on the floor, that man was still waiting for Inuyasha to fight seriously. He giggled like before and smiled at Inuyasha as he got closer to him.

 

“You are a cute man” he said in a flirty voice and Inuyasha looked at him disgusted.

 

“Get away from me, bastard” Inuyasha punched his stomach and kicked his face before kicking his stomach again while he was in the floor. “Just for the record, you're gross and I'm starting to hate you”

 

“Inuyasha” Kagome said happily, he looked at her mad.

 

“Didn't I tell you to…?” he saw a black van parking behind her and a pair of hands coming out of the van as the doors opened. “Kagome!”

 

The van disappeared with Kagome inside it and Inuyasha cursing mentally for not being careful. He didn't want to admit it but he needed the help of the bastard who now wanted to kill him more than ever, he pulled out his cell phone and speed dialed his number. Inuyasha waited for him to answer as he convinced himself that he was not acting like a coward, although he knew that only a coward would run for his help. Finally, he heard him picking up.

 

“Inuyasha… what do I owe this pleasure?” Naraku answered.

 

“Someone kidnapped her, if it was you… I'll kill you but I doubt it because I know all your crew” Naraku gasped.

 

“Kagome… was kidnapped?” Inuyasha rolled his eyes.

 

“Yes, I swear that if you did it I'll…”

 

“Don't threat me Inuyasha; your position is in risk for what you did last night…” Inuyasha rolled his eyes and sighed annoyed. “For this once, I'll help you… but just because the kidnapped is her… and because you were stupid enough like to let someone take her”

 

“It was me against 5 men; would you've been able to take care of it?” Inuyasha asked and Naraku laughed.

 

“Yeah, I can imagine you… poor thing, trained to be a killer and having troubles with 4 inexpert men” Inuyasha felt like hitting him but he just held it because he was going to help him. “I'll leave aside our difference for this once and help… but first of all, this doesn't mean that I forgot what you stole from me yesterday”

 

“I never thought you would forget it” he hung up and clenched his fists as he ran to follow the black van's track.
