Kagome: ::Looks up from book.:: Really?

Miroku: Why is that?

Ice Lioness: I'd like to do this one on my own.

Inuyasha: Why? It's not like your any good at it…

Alone. That's how I've spent the many years of my life. It has been hundreds of years since someone ever cared about my well being, since someone put my needs before their own. One might say I was jealous. Of what you may ask? Something no demon of my greatness or prestige should ever be jealous of. He always got everything he ever wanted, love, a family, a girl who loves him... A girl he doesn't deserve...

Yes, I have fallen in love with my half-brothers human wench... No, not wench, Kagome. She hates it when he calls her that, all of the names he's adopted to call her... Wench, priestess, woman, bitch... He had nerve to call that beautiful creature such things, she was a woman and no woman deserved such a punishment as that.

"Listen wench! We're going shard hunting and we're going now!" The half-breed yelled below me. Yes, I have lowered myself to becoming a mere spy.

"Forget it, Inuyasha!" The young maiden yelled back, much to my delight. "We are not going anywhere today. Don't you understand, I'm sick, I have the flu. I came here to relax and get away from home, not travel 100 miles to find jewel shards."

I watched in quiet excitement as Inuyasha growled in defeat. With curiosity I kept my eyes on the half-breed as he stopped mid-stride and turned back to the young maiden. I growled deeply with anger as Inuyasha grabbed Kagome roughly by the arm and pulled her up to stand eye level with him. "We are going shard hunting now whether your well or sick so grab your stuff and lets go!"

Kagome lifted her arm and slapped Inuyasha across the face and ran from the hut, into Inuyasha's Forest. I could feel my eyes following her fading form as it traveled deeper into the forest.

I could hear all of her friends yelling at the foolish half-breed to chase her. I darted after her, careful not to be seen by her many friends. For a human she was definitely fast, another reason why I admired her so. I followed her scent to a small hot spring where my nose was invaded by the smell of salt water.

I walked up behind her with silent steps, the young priestess was sitting in a small ball, her knees up to her chest, her face was buried in her knees and her arms wrapped around her legs. I sat down quietly beside her with my legs crossed and my elbows resting on my knees as I stared into the water.

Through the corner of my eye, I watched her lift her head and stare at me in surprise, not fear. She turned away and closed her eyes as she began coughing viciously. I stared quietly at her, contemplating my next action. Carefully I patted her back in a comforting manner hoping to end her coughing. Her cough's slowly died down to raspy breathing as she placed her left hand on her chest and her right hand on the ground to steady herself.

She turned her head in my direction and stared into my eyes. My hand never left its position on her back as I continued to watch her. She looked into my eyes as if searching for something. Closing her eyes she must have either found what she was searching for or has given up, but what happened next surprised me the most.

She leaned her body towards me then laid her head on the upper part of my left thigh, wrapping her left arm around my knee. During that time my hand had moved from between her shoulder blades, down to her left flank above her hipbone.

I quickly recovered from my shock and ran the fingertips of my hand up and down her side. A small smile graced my lips as I watched her sigh in contentment. She nuzzled her nose into my thigh and wrapped her arm tightly around my leg. I bent my head down to her face and nuzzled her cheek with my nose.

This couldn't be real, could it? Here I was, sitting beside a hot spring with the girl who has been haunting my every dream nuzzling her nose into my thi... An electric feeling shot through my entire body, the vixen was rubbing and scratching at my ears. A purr escaped my parted lips and rumbled deep within my chest.

I felt her jump slightly at the unsuspecting noise but then ease back into her previous state of relaxation. I pulled her from her position on the ground and into my lap, resting my head comfortably on her shoulder. She wiggled a little, causing her small body to mold against mine.

Once she seemed comfortable in my lap she wrapped one arm around my neck and the other tangled itself within my long white mane, searching for the triangular dog-ears. Yes, dog ears, I got myself caught in a bad position with a priestess that thought a full blooded dog demon would look good with ears that belong to a half-breed, though I still had my demon blood. Needless to say that priestess would never live to talk about it. And, since she was dead this became a permanent and sealed spell, due to the unfortunate fact that it was a spell that could be removed only by the priestess who cast it.

But... if Kagome likes it, I suppose its livable. Another purr erupted in my chest at the feeling of her tender hand upon my ear. I buried my nose in her soft black hair, inhaling the scent that was so unique.

She stopped her caress and placed her hands in her lap, a single word escaping her lips, "Sesshoumaru?"

"Hmm?" Was my ever-intelligent reply...

"Why are you doing this?" She shifted in my lap then placed her hands upon my shoulders, giving a light push. "Why are you here?"

I sighed and allowed her small hands to push me back. I lifted my hand, watching her cringe, thinking I was going to hurt her. It hurt me, though I didn't show it, that she would think so lowly of me that I would hit a woman. Then again... Looking over all of the other times we met, it seemed logical.

I lightly placed my hand on the side of her face and began stroking her hair. She slowly and hesitantly eased into the touch. I made a silent promise to always protect this creature, even at the cost of my own life.

Before I could stop it, a reply escaped from my parted lips, "Does a man need a reasons to protect something or someone he loves?"

The shock I saw on her face was enough to scare me into regret. I opened my mouth to let loose an apology, when I felt the touch of ski on my lips.

She gave me a look of question, before asking me what it is that plagued her, "Is this true?"

I stared straight into her eyes, hoping her not to turn away, "This Sesshoumaru never jests."

That comment didn't seem to shock her much, just as her next comment didn't shock me either, "But I love Inuyasha, I'm sorry Sesshoumaru. I don't want to break your heart but..."

Something inside me had told me that it was coming, as much as I didn't want it to, but I wasn't going to give up yet.

Damn... he's looking for her, I'll have to make this quick... "Inuyasha is searching for you, its best you bathe and wash your clothes to remove my scent. I must be going. Please... don't tell Inuyasha of our meeting."

She gave me a nod then smiles, "Lord Sesshoumaru? Here? What Lord Sesshoumaru...?"

I fought back a smile at her reply and jumped into a nearby tree till I was well hidden. Should she need me, I'll be close by.

She had her back turned to my tree and began undressing. She put her clothes in a pile beside the hot spring then placing one foot in front of the other, made her way into the warm waters.

Once she dunked her head in the water to wet her hair she came back up and grabbed her clothes, washing each piece of clothing, one by one.

The sound of approaching footsteps and a woman's voice broke the natural silence. "Kagome?!"

Kagome raised her head, as she finished lying out her clothes on the rocks to dry. "Sango! Over here!"

The sound of running footsteps and ragged breathing invaded my senses. Moments later the girl, Sango, came running up to the hot spring. She knelt down next to her now found friend and hugged her.

Sango set down a yellow sack as well as her boomerang before taking a comfortable seat beside the spring. "We were so worried about you Kagome, are you alright?"

Kagome smiled warm-heartedly at her dear friend and gave a nod, "I'm fine, just relaxing in the spring. Care to join me?"

Sango nodded her head then looked to the bundle in her hands, "Kirara, run and tell Inuyasha and Miroku we're fine and have them set up camp somewhere close to the spring."

The fire cat demon gave a nod and ran in the direction of their companions. Sango then proceeded to undress and join her friend in the soothing water.

Kagome bowed her head a little as if in deep thought. I wonder what about...

Ice Lioness: Yay! I've finally done it!

Inuyasha: I never thought you'd finish.

Ice Lioness: Now to transfer it from my Sony Clie to my computer then re-type it.

Inuyasha: I've got a question...

Ice Lioness: ...Yeah…?

Inuyasha: If Sesshoumaru gets the girl, then why does Kagome say she loves me?

Ice Lioness: In due time. You'll be an ass to her so then she will turn to Sesshoumaru and I think you can figure things out from there...

Sesshoumaru: See Inuyasha, this is why you should be kind towards the woman.

Ice Lioness: Anyway, before any of this gets to out of hand. I'm going to attempt getting Chapter 2 out the same day Gravitation Volume 5 comes out. If you don't know the date, look it up.
