Chapter One: I Don't Want To Be Here

 

Okay, you can do this. Breathe, relax, chill.

 

Kagome thought to herself as she walked towards the campus at Tokyo University.

 

You rehearsed at home and you wrote the most romantic love letter! There's no way Miroku won't immediately fall in love with you.

 

Kagome stood at the top of the stairs near the main entrance of the building. She had arrived two hours before her economics class with Miroku began. Her best friend Sango hid near the stairway giving her support while spying at the same time.

“Kagome, you need to go for it. Just drop all your inhibitions and just let loose. If you don't go for it now, then you'll always wonder what could have been.” Sango said before taking a sip of her orange juice. Kagome and Sango were sitting in the school's café discussing her love life, or rather lack of.

 

“I know I need to but I'm just too scared of rejection. I mean I'm sure tons of girls had given him letters.”

 

“And yet he's still totally single!”

 

“Okay so it's a good sign that I have a shot but I just think it's too soon.”

 

“Kagome, you're twenty. You're a sophomore in college, you've never had a boyfriend, and you've been crushing on Miroku since orientation.” Sango grabbed Kagome's hands. “Write him a letter and let him know how you feel. This is destiny! Don't mess with destiny!”

I can't mess with destiny! This is my time to shine.

 

Kagome looked into the distance and instantly began to panic. Miroku Hoshi was walking towards the campus.

 

Omg this is it! Okay don't panic. Just take a deep breath and hand him the letter.

 

Kagome took a deep breath. It's now or never.

 

She closed her eyes and with the letter in both her hands, thrusted forward.

 

“I've liked you for a long time will you please go out with me?!”

 

Then it was silent. No response as Kagome slowly opened her eyes and saw out of her periphials that Miroku's sneakers that he always wore were walking towards the doors. She looked at him and saw that he had headphones on.

 

Of Course! Why didn't I think of the fact that he listens to music every morning! Oh gosh I'm such a…

 

There was light chuckling. Kagome couldn't understand who would be chuckling and why they were chuckling unless…they saw her ultimate failure of confessing her feelings to Miroku! Kagome felt her cheeks get hot as she turned around slowly and saw a tall student with long silver hair. He was dressed all in black and was smirking.

 

“Yes, I will go out with you.”

 

“Huh?!”

 

“You just asked me out, I accept.”

 

“No, um that was for Miro-“

 

“Oh this is gonna be interesting.”

 

Kagome panicked….she screamed and ran away.

 

I can't believe I just asked a degenerate out! I didn't mean to!!!! WHY DOES THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO ME!!!

 

The tall student watched as Kagome ran away frantically. He looked down smiling to himself and saw a pink envelope on the ground. He picked it up and read the outside. `The most perfect love letter to Mr. Miroku Hoshi from Ms. Kagome Higurashi.'

 

This might be even more interesting than I thought.
