Inuyasha held the bleeding Kagome in his arms ignoring the pain in his side and the rain falling down. Tears were pouring from his face as he stared at Kagome. She was dieing and he knew it.

"Inu… yasha…" She coughed violently. This could be her last breath.

"Don't talk Kagome… its going to be ok…" He managed a weak smile and she smiled back.

"Inuyasha… you know I cant stay…"

Hold on to me love
you know I can't stay long
all I wanted to say was i love you and I'm not afraid
can you hear me?
Can you feel me in your arms?

Inuyasha could feel her shudder in his arm for every word she said. He didn't want to hear those words coming from her mouth. "Kagome you cant leave me…"

"Im sorry Inuyasha… you know I want to stay…"

Holding my last breath
safe inside myself
are all my thoughts of you
sweet raptured light it ends here tonight

"Kagome… I love you…" He held her tighter. He never wanted to let go.

"I love… you too Inuyasha…" She gave a small smile but winced at the pain. Blood was pouring from her side, being drained by the rain. Her hair was a wet mass stuck to the side of her face, as was Inuyasha's. "Please, don't cry…"

"But your crying too… I can smell it…"

"I'm going to miss the winter… remember when you first saw snow?..." She smiled as she remembered when Inuyasha tried to attack the snow.

I'll miss the winter
a world of fragile things
look for me in the white forest
hiding in a hollow tree (come find me)

I can taste it in your tears

Kagome could taste one of Inuyasha's sweet and salty tears. But it just brought her more tears which were invisible in the hard rain pouring down on them. This brought her to times they shared together. When they had first met, when she would get mad, and now after they defeated Naraku, but at a deadly cost.

Inuyasha closed his eyes. He was rocking slightly back and forth with her in his arms. He couldn't let her die. He'd get her back somehow. But for some reason he doubted himself.

Closing your eyes to disappear
you pray your dreams will leave you here
but still you wake and know the truth
no one's there

Kagome's breathing slowed. Inuyasha kissed her forehead. "Good night… Inuyasha…" She watched as he faded to black.

"Kagome…"

Say goodnight
don't be afraid
calling me calling me as you fade to black
