Author's Blurb
Okay, so. Here I am writing another fic, which is most likely never going to be posted because I'll never finish it; I know this for an almost fact. This little blurb here is mostly for my benifit, and the benifit of a few of my friends who I may (or may not) let read this.
In the past (waay in the past) I had written a fic that included my roleplaying character, Icykimi Akuma, and I discovered that I liked writing about her abilities and powers more than I liked writing the entire fanfic itself. Not because of my crappy writing or because I wanted to glorify "myself" more, but because I though it was so cool just to create and invent powers and abilities and so forth. After thinking about this, I decided to attempt to write a fic that involved more of the action/fighting/power glorifying thing with many different characters than an actual plot, though I have one in my mind.
Within DoP there are many different characters, 90% of them, however, are self-created (meaning I created them) or they are created by my friend Leslee (aka Crystal), OR they are the other roleplaying characters of my friends. Also, the characters of Inuyasha are in here just to make it more intresting so the plot and what not will be able to go along smoother. (I'm also fan-girly over quite a few of the male characters, so yeah. Hehe.)
ANYWAY. I apologize to myself and anyone who may read this for the unneccisarily long Author's Blurb, but I love talking. Now, onto the disclaimer, and then off to the actual story!

Disclaimer 2: I do not own or will ever claim to own the characters of Inuyasha, they are the sole property and creation of the magnificent Rumiko Takahashi. (I want Sesshoumaru!)

Chapter 1: The Indroduction

The many occupants of the large auditorium-like room were poised on the edge of their seats, an almost one sidded battle taking palce on the ground infront of them. Almost silent, awed whispers glided from human to demonic ear, each comment full of amazement or other such commentary implying the certain outcome.
"She'll win without a doubt."
"Did it ever occur to you that she wouldn't? That lizard is really strong, but it's no match for Lady."
"Yeah - oh, look!"
"Did it ever occur to you that she wouldn't? That lizard is really strong, but it's no match for Lady."
"Yeah - oh, look!"
A collective gasp filled the hall as the obvious final move was constructed and put into play, sending the lizard youkai sprawled on the floor four yards infront of his opponent, covered in an icy sheen. There was a split second of breathless silence before the audience broke out into a satisfied applause for the victor.
+
Standing up from her crouched posistion on the hardwood floors of the intended instructional-turned-battle hall, Icykimi brushed loose strands of champagne blonde hair from her face and turned to face the crowd. A small, polite smile of appreciation passed over her lips, soon turning into an embarrassed grin. Walking over to the defeated lizard demon, Icykimi pressed a glowing finger tip to the thin layer of ice, evaporating it instantly.
With a quick flick of her wrist, the glow vanished and her attention turned once more to the gathering, the lizard staying unconscious at her feet.
After a few more minutes the hall once more became relatively quiet, and Icykimi began to speak. "I hope all of you enjoyed the demonstration -" Here, she was cut off as another round of applause announced the affirmative. Another wait, and she began again. "And I'd like to thank you for coming here today, the thought of having so many more students at the academy is wonderful, and we appreciate you taking an intrest in us in particular.
"As you can tell, you'll be learning much more here than just the basic methods of self-defence. Each person here can aquire a better understanding of the abilites they were born with and develope them further under the guidence of all of our skilled teachers here at The Akuma Training Academy."
Icykimi looked downward, a slight twitch of the lizard having been noticed out of the corner of her eye. Glancing toward the far side of the hall, she motioned for assistance. Two teenaged boys jogged to her side, and with quick instruction, cleared the lizard demon from the floor.
Once the distraction had again left, Icykimi resumed her monologue. "If you haven't noticed already, you're seated among many different peoples. This school is made and thrives under diversity, meaning you, your child, or any one else for that matter will be along side demon, hanyou, and human alike. I would like to warn you now, that this will never change, and anyone who has a problem with that should leave and find themselves another school."
Many pairs of eyes continued to watch intently at the speaker, none moving from their seat. Finally, with a satisfied expression, the demoness finished off her words. "Again, I'd like to thank you all for coming today. I'm going to assume you are intrested in what we have to offer, and if you have any more questions my assistants or myself would be more than happy to answer your questions. To your left and right are booths that will provide you with packets to take home and fill out, then bring back on orientation day."
Three young women came and stood behind Icykimi, waiting for her to finish before they were to wade around the crowd, answering the questions that were sure to come.
"These ladies behind me are avaliable to answer your questions. Thank you." Icykimi ended with a nod of her head. Turning on her heal to face the three girls behind her, the elder demoness let out a stressed sigh.
"Are you okay?" One of them asked, the two others watching as the perspective students gradually made their way down to the floor.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Speaking infront of so many people is still a bit new to me. Stop looking at me like that, Moriko. You try doing that sometime."
The obsidian haired woman who spoke to her earlier cracked a grin. "No thanks. I'll leave the public speaking to you." With that, she walked off to attend to the intrested learners, leaving her sisters Aisu and Crystal giggling.
Glaring at her younger siblings, Icykimi turned and walked into the crowd. "Oh go do your jobs." She called, the two girls craking up from some inside joke behind her.

Reaching up into the deep blue mass atop her head, Aisu tugged the chopsticks out of her hair, letting the bundle cascade down to her lower back. "Aw, she'll get over it Crys."
Shrugging absently, Crystal replied, "yeah, I know she will. She gets all nervous and twitchy every year, but it always turns out fine. C'mon, let's go answer these people's questions before Icy makes you play with lightning and me grow plants."

Laughing good-naturedly at their sister's expense, the two teenagers seperated into the crowd.

"Umika, Koukei, how's everything going over here?" Icykimi asked, coming up on the booths she pointed out earlier.
"Thanks, we hope to see you Monday!" Koukei chirped, waving goodbye to one of the soon-to-be students. "Oh, Icy, we're doing fine. We've already given out at least half the packets you had made up. Here you go!" The youngest sibling smiled at one of the kids who was reaching for a packet, forgetting her sister for a moment.

"I wonder if we'll have any left..." Umika said quietly.
Pointing under the booth, "Don't worry, there's another box under there. I think I made more than there were people here."

"Excuse me, Lady.."
Giving her sisters a nod of approval, Icykimi turned around to face a girl no more than twelve. "Yes, what can I do for you, dear?"
Giving her sisters a nod of approval, Icykimi turned around to face a girl no more than twelve. "Yes, what can I do for you, dear?"
An elder woman, presumably the girl's mother came up behind the child, placing her hands on her daughter's shoulders. Squeezing them lightly, the mother urged her daughter to continue, a tight smile plastered on her face.
"I um.. I wanted to know if I was able to sign up for the school.. I know I'm only human but I work really hard and.. yeah.." The girl shifted anxiously, not meeting the demoness' gaze.

Knealing down so she was level with the girl, Icykimi nodded slowly. "What's your name?" She asked gently, able to smell the girls nervousness radiating off her in waves.
"Chio.."
"Chio.."
"Well Chio. I can already tell that you'd be a wonderful student. You're very brave for coming over and asking me yourself." Reaching behind her, Icykimi waved her hand gently, a light breeze fluttering out of no where and circling around one of the forms on the table. With another wave of her hand, the packet soared between them. The child's eyes widened in delight.
"Why don't you take these forms and fill them out with your mother, and I'm looking forward to seeing you Monday, Chio."
Grinning like she'd just won the candy lottery, Chio thanked Lady and bounded off with her packet towards the exit.

"God, Ice, if you don't stop becoming so popular you're gonna have to make a bigger school."
"Or, Fujiko, she could just deny certain aplications. Other schools do that too, you know."
Fujiko frowned. "Yeah, Mishina she could, but then she'd start getting a bad reputation."
Fujiko frowned. "Yeah, Mishina she could, but then she'd start getting a bad reputation."
"Yea-"
"Will you two stop it already? You're starting to give me a headache." Icykimi scolded, waving her hand dramatically at the two bickering females.
"Sorry." They said in unison, and continued their task of sorting the submitted applications.
"Will you two stop it already? You're starting to give me a headache." Icykimi scolded, waving her hand dramatically at the two bickering females.
"Sorry." They said in unison, and continued their task of sorting the submitted applications.
After a few peaceful moments, Mishina spoke up again. "Why am I down here sorting through the aplications, shouldn't that be Crystal's job?"
Shifting slightly so she could watch the two, Icykimi closed her eyes and exhaled slowly. "Because Crystal is currently helping Moriko and Umika with straightening up the dojos. Now, I can have you switch with Crystal, because, after all, the task I've given you is an Apprentice's work. Shuffle papers, or sweep floors, choose."
Mishina hit the snickering Fujiko and continued silently stacking the applications into new and returning students.
"Hey Ice." Fujiko called, sitting back on her feet.
"Hm?"
"When am I going to level up?"
"I still don't know why you call it 'leveling up'; you're advancing in your abilities and knowledge."
"Fine, I'm titling up, whatever. I just want to know when."
"You're not.. oh, forget it. You can 'title up' when first off, I think you're ready to, second is when you can defeat a Master in a battle, and when you've proved yourself capable in knowledge and ability." And without skipping a beat or waiting for a reply, Icykimi continued. "I've got to go check on everyone else. I should be back around here in an hour, two hours at the most so I want the applications to be sorted into new and returning, and then whether or not they're human, hanyou, or youkai. Okay? Have fun."
Pushing herself up from the leather chair, Icykimi exited the office building and made her way aross the courtyard to the training areas near the back of the school grounds.

Have fun."
Pushing herself up from the leather chair, Icykimi exited the office building and made her way aross the courtyard to the training areas near the back of the school grounds.
Over the past few years, Icykimi's academy had grown from a small, family oriented training ground to the massive school that it currently was, and was expected to grow larger. Being the sole heir of one of Japan's most influencial, respected, and eldest Youkai Legacies, the young (by demonic standards) demoness was probably the most sought after instructor all over Japan and possibly the world.
Yet Icykimi could still find no true happiness.
Silky champagne blonde hair shifted to and fro in the breezy night air while luminous aqua orbs scanned the spacious grounds. Closing her eyes in a brief reprieve, the lady took in the hazy, rose and waterfall scented air greedily.
"Why do I so rarely let myself go.." Icykimi muttered, her eyes once more open and fixated on the pink light of the fading sun reflecting against the pillowy white clouds. The movement of nature seemed to stop momentarily in respect for the demoness who held the ability to control so much of it with such grace.
Winds stilled, the creatures gaily roaming the age-old grounds seased their talk and the beautiful stream that flowed throughout the hillside seemed to have frozen in place. For a moment, if only for a moment - and then it all began again. In a powerful rush of air, the world once more returned to the natural order of things, save for the lonely figure standing watch over her beloved estate.
With a slight inclination of her head, Icykimi bowed to the wonder around her, content in the knowledge that others around her could be so undeniably happy.
Raising her right hand to the level of her bosom and forming her fingers into the posistion of holding a delicate flower, Icykimi began a low, sweet humming tune. The tips of her clawed fingers shone a bright aqua; her aura made known as a gentle wind caressed the areas a few inches above the demoness's fingers and then below the creamy flesh of her wrist. A simple twitch of her fingers caused tiny snow-like blue orbs to penetrate into the swirling wind creating a silhouette of a magnificent rose bud.
Seconds later, an exact hollow ice figure replica of a long-stemmed rose was held in Icykimi's hands, the wind and glowing snow orbs still swirling within the figure. Slowly, a smile began to curve at the corners of her lips. "I always enjoy making these.." she whispered, rubbing her finger against the chilly ice sculpture.
Placing the rose between her lips, Icykimi gathered the long tresses of her, twisting them together at the nape of her neck. Taking the clear rose, she dug the slightly pointed stem through the mass of hair, securing it in place. Dropping her now non-glowing hands back to her sides, Icykimi turned back to glance at the deep purple of the sky. Once more deeply inhaling the hazy dusk air, Icykimi set off to the indoor training dojos to relieve her sisters of their mundane tasks.

[[ Unfortunate Author's Inturrutpion: Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha don't hate each other in this story since it's kinda/stora an AU fic for them, though they did go through 'Feudal Times.' "For crying outloud, Sess, STOP THAT TAPPING!"
Sesshoumaru gave his younger half-brother a brief smirk before dishing out a few more 'Taptaps' against the polished mohogany wood of the coffee table with his claws.
"Goddamn it. You know that annoys the hell out of me."
"Precisley."
"So stop friggen doing it!"
"Well what is the fun in that, little brother? Obviously there is nothing more entertaining to do or I would be doing that, not sitting here wasting my time dulling my claws on this hunk of wood."
"Precisley."

"Well what is the fun in that, little brother? Obviously there is nothing more entertaining to do or I would be doing that, not sitting here wasting my time dulling my claws on this hunk of wood."
"That hunk of wood you are referring to just happens to be an 18th century English carving from the castle in London. Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, why are you at home and not out bothering society?" The deep, fatherly voice quieted the oncoming arguement of Inutaisho's two sons that would have probably ended up in turning that carved table into 18th century splinters.
Inuyasha spoke up first. "Because society bores us, well it bores me anyway. There's nothing all that intresting to do outside the gates."
"Too many humans in mixed race areas to enjoy any real entertainment." Sesshoumaru agreed pointedly, folding black silk covered arms over his well toned chest. "There is a potential risk of harming them, and I do not feel like dealing with the police.. again." The end of his sentence was obviously directed toward Inuyasha, who reciprocated with a defensive glare.

"It's not my fault that damn girl got in the way, she should have known better to walk into the middle of the stree while I was driving!"
"Yes, and I suppose she was to know that while she had the right-of-way, she was to worry about a maniac hanyou driver flying down the road in a red convertable." [[UAI: Hehe, here I got that from A Piece of Potato Passion by Psychocynic on ff.net. That story is absoutly hillarious. ]]

"Yeah we -"
"Enough! Both of you!" Inutaisho roared, rubbing his temples with the pads of his fingers, intent upon derailing the oncoming headache. He loved his two sons to death, but that was exactly the problem. They were going to drive him to the brink of insanity if they didn't get out of the house and stop arguing with each other over the simplest of things.
Things could be worse, I suppose. Inutaisho shook his head in a near-defeat manner, desperatly trying to remain cool under the intense pressure of his mind on the brink of exploding, not literally, of course.
Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha silenced immediatly, curious looks adorning both their features due to the strange look their father had on his face.
"Is Dad going mental?" Inuyasha question, more so to himself than anyone else.
"Most likely." Sesshoumaru replied, leaning back casually against the leather chair he was currently seated in. "Father, if you don't mind."

"What? Oh - yes. As I was saying, why don't you two find out some legal way to have fun without terrorizing myself or anyone else for that matter?" Inutaisho said, removing his fingertips from the sides of his head and returning them down to his torso.
Inuyasha frowned, seeming very put off by the legal emphasis. "Well that's gonna be absoutly no fun at all. Legal. Feh."
"Take it or leave it, Inuyasha. I'm in no mood to argue with either of you, and I'm also in no mood to have the Demonic Affairs Beuro knocking on my door at four in the morning. Speaking of affairs, do either of you know when your mother is going to be back from shopping?" Inutaisho decided it was best to change topic, fully intent upon staying out of his sons 'fun.'
Sesshoumaru, on the other hand, decided it wasn't.
"I propose a tournament."
"You propose a what?" Inuyasha questioned while his father groaned audibly.
"Are you that deaf that you cannot understand what I'm saying the first time, mutt? I said a tour-na-ment. You do recall what they are, do you not?" Sesshoumaru smirked. He enjoyed to the fullest extent when hanyou brother flipped out at the most minute of insults.
"Asshole, I know what a tournament is, I was just wonder what in the hell got into your mind to suggest such a stupid thing." The seething hanyou retorted, keeping from making any obscene gestures while his father was in the room.

Slightly disappointed, Sesshoumaru continued with his brilliant idea. "A tournament where youkai, hanyou and human a like can enter. Participants may come from all over the world if they please, but they must have recieved an invitation or be accepted by an application only." Pausing for a moment to see if any of this was sinking in to his father and brother, he continued.
"There can be divisions depending on advancement in ability and so forth, and a prize for each divisions winner. The division winners can then be faced against each other, and then the winner of the youkai division will fight me." Here, the youkai prince smirked at the obvious insult direction toward Inuyasha.
"Wait, what the hell? Why do they get to fight you, you prick!" Inuyasha replied after a moment, when the last bit of the information sunk in.
"I am youkai, idiot. You are hanyou." Sesshoumaru stated. "It would be natural that the winner of the youkai division would battle myself."
"Ah.." Inutaisho finally spoke, having taken an actual intrested in the direction his son was heading. "I see now. You can't expect a human to fight a youkai, there would be an obvious disadvantage."
"Yeah, but what about me?" The hanyou interrupted. "Who the hell am I suppost to fight?"
"Inuyasha, do you not remember what century we're in?" He didn't wait for his younger brother to answer the question. "There are many hanyou now, you are not alone in the world as you once were, you shall have your own division as well, mutt."
Grinning, he let the 'mutt' comment slide. "Good.. hey, wait. What about human?" Inuyasha asked.
"You have skilled human friends, correct?" Sesshoumaru arched an eyebrow, almost suprised at how his idea had taken hold of the attention of both his father and brother. Suprised? No, this was a perfect idea from the very begining.

"Sesshoumaru, this just might actually go somewhere.. hm..." The old inu youkai began ranting, mostly to himself about the prospects the 'tournament' could bring. Racial and government alliances and agreements could form.. or break, but that wasn't the point.
Both sons stared at their father, then gave each other an only-going-to-happen-once-every-lifetime understanding look.
Their father was insane.
Time had finally taken hold of the old youkai, and in human terms.. had gone.. Senile.
"Father."

"Father..."
"Father..."
...
"FATHER."
"What? Oh, yes. Sesshoumaru, pardon my rambling."
"Indeed."
Inutaisho sent him a glare. Sesshoumaru smirked. "You two will continue with this idea further. I like it."
"No kidding.." Inuyasha coughed, attempting to quiet his remark. Inutaisho sent his other son a glare.
"Within the next few weeks I want a full plan of how this thing is to be run. A name, qualifications, where it is to be held, and so on. Sesshoumaru may actually have something."
"May actually.." and "Something?" Inutaisho growled, tired of the interruptions.
"If you two will stop trying to be smartasses, and listen to what I have to say, you will have already realised that you could have gotten up and left by now. Three weeks, and then you will let me know what you've come up with."
Inutaisho sent his sons one last glare before turning and walking out of the spacious den, muttering about disrespectful children and "No good punishments in this era.. none at all."

Running a clawed hand through his long, silvery hair, Sesshoumaru stood up from the chair, reaching his full height of six foot three inches. The now wrinkled black button-up shirt hung loosly from his sides, setting off the melted honey shade his eyes consisted of. Shoving his hands into the pockets within the also black slacks, Sesshoumaru gave his brother a once over. "Well, little brother, it seems we shall be working together."
"Yeah, unfortunately." Inuyasha replied, his eyes the same amber as his brother's, only a few shades lighter. Where Sesshoumaru had almond shaped eyes, Inuyasha had oval. Inuyasha's hair, also, was a lighter than Sesshoumaru's, white locks reaching down to his lower back, Sesshoumaru's to his knees.
The bright red of Inuyasha's shirt ruffled lightly as he stood, a good three inches shorter than his brother, Inuyasha didn't seem the least bit intimidated. "I guess we'll have to figure out some time to work it out."
"So we shall." Glancing at the grandfather clock to Inuyasha's right, Sesshoumaru turned in the oposite direction his father headed, toward the west wing stairs that led to his room; Inuyasha still standing in same spot, a blank look on his face.
Shrugging, the hanyou followed his father's footsteps in the direction of the kitchen, intent upon finding something to eat before he went out to go see his friends. "Wait till the four of them here about this."

Author's Ending Blurb
Heya! Well, I've made it through chapter one without anything extrodinary happening. You met.. four of the most important characters so far, and the other one's should be coming up next chapter! I do know that Sesshoumaru seemed a bit out of character, but hey, it's my story and I can write it how I want to. Besides, they live in a world where Youkai, Hanyou, and Human are mingling with each other everyday, and for the most part it's peaceful.
I'm letting ya'll know now, that I do have a plot all the way through begining-middle and begining of the end, but I do have a few idea's for the very end of it. Also, you guys won't be seeing this chapter until I decide it's good enough. Once I get going though, I suck my inspiration for all it's worth, leaving you with (hopefully!) entertaining chapters to read.
This chapter is roughly 6-7 pages, but I assure you as the chapters continue and I get more and more into the story, my usual can be close to 9-10 pages.
Oh, also, I'm looking for a beta for this story. More information on what I'm looking for in my profile.

Preview for Chapter 2:
"So.. which one of you wants to be the human to beat?" ... "Father, here is what we've decided.." ... "Welcome to the Akuma Training Academy, all you new comers!.." ... "This looks like a good place to find some talent."
