The demon glared darkly at Heiwa. He let out a growl of rage at the child. “Damn you!' Hurling his body at the boy he was met with the blade of tetsuigua. “I have told you to shut your damn mouth, but no matter where we go or what we do you cannot seem to obey me!” The blade slashed straight through the Inuyasha's demon side…the blood on his father's fang sizzling.

 

“Gahh!!!....You impotent fool! You have no idea of the pains you've caused me. Kagome or Kikyo. The woman who gave us life or the one who took it away. I dealt with that for almost 60 years and now in the depths of hell you dare tell me to relinquish my ground?!!” The demon held its leaking belly. “I am you! I am everything you fear! I am all that you are and you dare lock me away in the cage of your mind?!”

 

“You tried to kill my son!” Inuyasha roared fending Kagome and Heiwa behind him. Virgil took a seat on the nearest rock. It had been a long time since someone's entities split and fought in hell. Virgil missed the fights. “Oh wrong again. He is our son. I am the leader of the pack and I choose who is to live or die.” Gripping his sword tighter Inuyasha eyed his youkai mind.

 

“You don't give a damn about Kagome or Heiwa!” The demon, regenerated and standing tall, lowered his face. “Dammit…” Inuyasha let up. “Never tell me who I do not care for! I love them both more than you could ever because you fear your fucking emotions Inuyasha!!!” It had been the first time he saw himself cry, and the first time Kagome saw his demon half cry. Something in her brain snapped and memories flooded back.

 

“I am not afraid of my emotions!” “Oh and how long did I tell you Kikyo would betray us?” Inuyasha growled low. “I was Naraku!!!” The demon paced and shook his head laughing bitterly. “No, she would have betrayed us even without his help. She loathed us.” “Liar.” “She hated what we were.” “Liar!” “The only woman strong enough to love us was Kagome! And you drove her to killing herself! You led her hand Inuyasha! You nailed the door to her coffin and you left our son without a mother!”

 

The sword fell….clawed hands shook and gripped his heart. “You feel that.” His counterpart touched his own still beating heart. “Pulsing, beating, that throbbing in your chest….it's pain….it lives….you took that from Kagome. You couldn't...”The demon bit his lip, “You couldn't let her be. Now she is here. Here where she does not belong!”

 

Inuyasha fell not to the demon, but to his knees. He had lost that ever quaking battle within himself. He couldn't hold back the damn of tears that fell. The scorched the earth, rolling down the dirt hill. The demon looked Inuyasha in the eye. His face mere inches from his. “Now….I show you what it is like to be in darkness.”

 

The demon's lips met Inuyasha's and he pulled his soul into his joining them. The hanyou groaned in pain at the feeling of his heart being torn. It was a pain that induced the darkness of loss. He rocked back and forth…afraid that if he stopped he would loose his mind. Unaware that he already had. Kagome walked towards him and wrapped her arms around his shaking form.

 

“I'm here. I won't leave you” It was a whisper in his soul that only he could hear. The half demon nodded numbly and looked at her. “I'm not going to leave you.” Virgil sighed. “How pathetic, we reach the outskirts of the forest of self-divergence and he's already gone mad. Brilliant.” The philosopher carried on, snatching a thick branch from a nearby tree watching as the stump bled.

 

It wailed in agony as its trunk turned to be the body of a woman. “Why does thou torture me so?” Virgil raised an eyebrow and walked past the tree. Inuyasha held onto Kagome. Heiwa held onto his hand. “Daddy it's okay….we won't leave you.” He shuddered and broke into tears.
