Chapter Eight - Promises

 

Kagome felt a little disorientated as she slowly opened her eyes. She couldn't remember what happened and why it seemed she was in a hospital. At first she thought she had been hurt during an assignment but if so she wouldn't be hurt she be dead. Kagome looked around the room and remembered what had happened. She slowly got out of bed went into the bathroom. No matter how hurt she was or where she was she had to brush her teeth. After cleaned up she looked outside the window door. Kagome opened the door just as Sango walked in.

 

“You're up!” Sango smiled

 

“Yeah….” Kagome rubbed her head

 

“We thought you be asleep for a day or so.” Sango mused.

 

“Me? Stay overnight in a hospital? Never.” Kagome then remembered something.

 

“Wait is InuYasha okay?!” Kagome tried to race out the door.

 

“Calm down, we had to send him home; he was in a bitchy mood.”

He was a wreck. Kagome was driving his car with him in it the accident was just a much as his fault then her own. He was the one who told her it was safe to go at the stop light. He swore it was the car came from nowhere out of thin air. He was fine she on the other hand was a bit banged up and comatose. The car came from her direction so it made sense that she would get the blunt effect. Still why hadn't he seen or heard another car? He heard the door lock turned and even stepping her scent hit him. There was a timid knock on his bedroom door and he didn't need to see the person to know who it was.

 

“It's open.”

 

“Inuyasha?” Kagome sat down on his bed far away from him trying not to invade his space. To that InuYasha rolled his eyes. For a moment neither of the two spoke.

 

“Inuyasha?” Kagome called out his name while looking out the corner of her eye at him.

 

“Yeah” he responded.

 

“I'm sorry.” She whispered softly. He was shocked and widened his eyes at her.

 

“What the hell for?” He asked his words were not harsh but he was confused. What did she have to apologize for?

 

“For getting us into the accident.” She blinked.

 

“It's just as much my fault I told you it was okay to go.”

 

“Yeah but I should have checked!” He shouted and stood up.

 

“Well you didn't need too if I said it was fine!” he shouted and stood up also.

 

“I was driving it was my fault I could have killed us!” She released a tear drop. For some reason the thought of killing Inuyasha made her more then depressing. For that she was terrified her job was to kill him. He was just another red check in her notebook.

 

“Kagome stop it wasn't our fault” his voice was lower now and he had grabbed her shoulders.

 

“I could have killed us…”

 

“But you didn't kagome, I promise not let you drive again if that would make you feel better” he smirked trying to lighten the mood. Kagome laughed and smiled.

 

“Then I promise to not put you life in danger”

 

“Deal” he smirked at her a let his hands fall down her arms.

 

“I better go and help Ayame with the…dishes yeah.”

 

“Yeah you do that” he said knowingly.

 

Kagome blushed she could take sex, seduction and lust but warm and fluffy feelings were way out of league.

Ayame and Sango walked into the Corporation the next day. Meaning all formalities were to be used and their real names were not to be spoken. Sesshomaru nodded to them and they sat down.

 

“So what happened to Miko?” Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow in his seat.

 

“She got into a car accident with your half brother.” Sango replied.

 

“Is that so emerald?” Sesshomaru asked Ayame

 

“Yes it is.”

 

“And where is she now director?”

 

“She is home resting her back it hurts a bit.” Sango replied.

 

“Then you are expected to tell her the news.”

 

“Which is?” Ayame asked and received a dark glace from Sesshomaru for speaking freely.

 

“Emerald hold you tongue” Sango informed stepping into the role as director.

 

“My apologies” Sango and Sesshomaru nodded

 

“You are aware that Kikyo 702 codename cobalt pervious director had died?” the both nodded

 

“Well that's a lie. Apparently during her last mission to take down Naraku she was instead capture and held with Naraku's restrictions. I want her back in this corporation before the end of this month.” Sesshomaru handed over a file to Sango.

 

“Okay” Sango and Ayame said.

 

“Director 368 and Emerald 347 you are dismissed and remember to inform Miko 164 about today's conference” With a nod the both left. Once they were outside Sango was able to speak freely.

 

“You know Ayame it's strange. If an assassin is caught she is ordered to kill herself or another assassin will kill her. So why is it that we are not allowed to kill her like when the same thing happened to Yura?” Sango asked.

 

“Who knows what game the sick twisted man is playing at” Ayame shrugged.

 

“True, well let's go tell Kagome her cousin is alive.”

 

“Indeed”
