Hanyou For Birthday: Part 1
1 & 2. Okay…
“Souta!?” Her voice was slightly higher pitched than usual and more frantic. “Souta!!” She could see birds flying overhead. That was when she realized something was wrong.
“Where am I?” She quickly scrambled out of the well and looked around her.
“Where’s the shrine!?” She spun in circles. Nothing looked familiar to her. She made her way to where she knew the Goshinboku was…
The sight before her eyes made her breath hitch in her throat. Before her was the most beautiful man she had ever seen. He had long sliver hair and the most adorable doggie ears; he appeared to be asleep upon the tree. She climbed up the vines around him and the Goshinboku; staying up by holding onto his haori. She ran her fingers lightly over his ears; they twitched, causing her to giggle.
Then she noticed something odd. This young man was being held to the tree by an arrow.
‘Oh my god! What if he’s injured!? I need to get him down from there!’
She reached towards the arrow and her eyes fell upon startling amber orbs. Gasping, she brought her hand to her mouth. She had never seen anyone with vibrant amber eyes, silver hair (spare the old people), and defiantly never with dog-ears.
He growled lowly at her. She stumbled backwards and grabbed the first thing she could; the arrow. Setting him free.
“Kikyou…” He said it so low, so barely audibly, the word didn’t reach the girl’s ears.
The girl stood up, dusting herself off, and glaring at the young man. “You made me fall!” She yelled to him.
A small smirk appeared on his face.
“Aww, poor Kikyou. Can’t do anything without the great Inuyasha’s help…She falls all over the place without him.” He sneered at the girl; truly believing her to be his beloved.
“Excuse me! I don’t know who you think you are, but my name is Kagome, not Kikyou!” He was about to reply with a sarcastic comment, when a breeze blew through the forest.
He caught wind of her scent.
‘She really isn’t Kikyou? Why does she look like her? Why does she have the Shikon jewel? How was she able to unseal me? Wait…She has the Shikon jewel. IT’S MINE!’
Without warning, the hanyou leapt at the girl. Startled, she tried to protect herself. He managed to swipe at her side, and she shot him with an odd blast of energy. He fell to the ground and clutched his head.
“Oi, wench! What was that?” He had never experienced anything of the sort. Searing pain was running through his head, and his vision was foggy.
Not bothering to move he repeated himself.
The girl held her wounded side; having no idea, what she had done to the hanyou. She could feel blood on her hand and moaned in pain. Then she felt something foreign. It was cold and slick. She pulled the object out for better inspection, and cleaned it on her skirt.
It was a glowing purple ball, the size of a large marble. She peered closely at it. Having no idea what it was, but having a gut feeling it was something important, she stuffed it in her sock for safekeeping.
Ignoring the pain in her side, she crawled towards the fallen boy. She kneeled next to him and pushed a lock of his silver hair away from his face.
“Are you all right?” His amber eyes fluttered open. He could see the look she was giving him; concern. A look no one had given him since his mother had died. Instantly he felt confused.
‘Didn’t I just…Why is she…Who the hell is this girl!?’
Her hand reached towards him; he grabbed it, stopping her, and let off a low warning growl. She tried to retract her hand, but he held on tight. She struggled to get her hand back, and he flipped them over, so that he could pin her down and keep her from moving.
“Wench! Who the hell are you? Why do you have the Shikon jewel? Why do you resemble Kikyou; where’s Kikyou?”
She furrowed her brow and glared at him.
“Again, I don’t know who you think you are…Inuyasha, I presume, but I’m Kagome. KA-GO-ME! Not Kikyou! Nor do I even know a Kikyou!”
He snorted and fixed her with a glare of his own.
“Listen, wench-”
“My name’s KAGOME! Not wench!”
“As I was saying, KAGOME, I can kill you with one swipe of my claws.” To emphasize his point, he cracked his knuckles. She looked frightened for a moment, before they heard a voice calling to him.
“Inuyasha! Unhand the girl!” They turned their heads to seeing an old woman pointing a set bow at the hanyou. She had an eye patch over one eye, and was wearing a white blouse with billowing red pants. She had a stern look of determination on her face.
‘Who is this old hag thinking she can stop me?’ He looked down at the girl and let her go, getting off of her. She slapped him hard across the face, first chance she got. The girl crossed her arms over her chest, and ‘humph’ed.
This chapter and the next took a LOT of concentration. I had so many distractions it wasn’t even funny! It took a long while to write this chapter and the next, before I realized it was too long, and I had to cut it in two.
1. Is it too much like the anime/manga?
2. Please review to help this authoress recover from so much concentrating, would you? Please?
