Some Sango and Miroku time!! Hehe, n_n

Inuyasha, Sango and Miroku were battling with a few overly large lesser youkai when Inuyasha slashed his claws through the final one.

“Damn, I wish I had my sword…” He muttered as they walked back to the clearing they had left Kagome and Shippou in.

“What sword?” Shippou inquired as he jumped from an overhead branch to Inuyasha’s shoulder.

“Well…”

“You had a sword, Inuyasha? What kind!?” Kagome eagerly awaited answers.

“I-”

“Why don’t you have it anymore, Inuyasha?” Shippou poked his cheek, causing his right eye to twitch.

“I lost it…” Inuyasha mumbled as he sat down, shoving Shippou off his shoulder.

“You lost it? How could you lose it?” Sango furrowed her brow. “It’s a sword…Kinda hard to lose unless you leave it in the high grass…I did that once…” She mumbled off with pointless things as she hurriedly mumbled she was going to the hot springs nearby. Somehow, Miroku slinked off somewhere; probably to spy on Sango bathing.

“I don’t remember…All I know is that my asshole of a brother knocked me out and when I woke up, I was in some strange village and I had no idea where Tetsusaiga was!”

“Tetsusaiga? Was that what you named it?” He nodded as he looked at the ground by his feet.

“It was my old man’s…My brother got one…His could bring people back to life, while mine could slay….Since he was full blooded, he couldn’t mine…I only used it twice…Once when I was saving this little girl that was being ambushed by a bunch of rouge youkai and another time when I was protecting Kikyou’s village.”

Kagome and Shippou both gave him deadpan stares. “You only used it twice?” He nodded slowly. He hadn’t cussed in a while, he hadn’t hit anyone, and he was feeling completely drained…Maybe he should have gotten that much need sleep last night? Oh, god’s he prayed tonight wasn’t a full moon…

“It transforms you see…But only when I’m protecting a human or some shit like that.” Ah, there was a curse word, he felt a little better.

“Kagome?” She shifted her gaze from the hanyou to the fidgeting kitsune.

“Yes?”

“Can I go play with Kirara? I’m bored.” He gave her unneeded puppy eyes. Cute, but unneeded.

“Of course you can!” She laughed as the two small demons ran off to play in the wildflowers. She turned her attention back to Inuyasha when she heard him sigh. He had dark circles under his eyes, she noted.

“Inuyasha…Is there something bothering you?” She kept her gaze locked on his as emotions flew past his golden orbs, searching for the right words to say.

“No, why would anything be wrong with me, wench?” She sighed, giving up, and walked away to the hot springs to take her bath.

‘Damn it! Tonight is the full moon! I can feel it!!’ He sighed and hung his head, closing his eyes. ‘Another sleepless night.’

Sango arrived at the hot springs, not intending to bathe, but merely stuck her feet in the warm, shallow, water. She hugged her arms around herself and lost herself to her thoughts.

‘My family…They’re all gone…I have my new friends…But they’d never understand…Inuyasha and Shippou might…Inuyasha’s had time to grieve and he’s over it…I haven’t! Shippou’s still young, he doesn’t fully grasp any of it…I wish that I had someone besides Kagome-chan that I could spill my heart to. I need someone I can talk to, someone who can comfort me…I don’t like bothering Kagome-chan…It always makes me feel bad to spoil her jovial mood.’

She was lost in thought and hadn’t noticed the monk slowly inching his way towards her. He plopped himself on the grass next to her and put his sandal-free feet into the warm water. He placed his arm around her shoulders and gently squeezed.

“What’s wrong, Sango dear?”

“Nothing.” She was snapped out of her thoughts by him sitting next to her and stiffened when his arm found its way around her. ‘At least he hasn’t groped me…yet!

“But Sango, I can tell that a heavy cloud of misery looms over your head.” He stated, staring at her eyes, willing them to look his way. She refused to comply. She only stared straight ahead, willing herself not to be broken down by his charms.

“Sango…Please…Talk to me.” He reached his cursed hand towards her face and gently turned her face towards him. He locked onto her tear-filled orbs and pulled her to him as tears streamed their way down her cheeks.

“Houshi-sama! I miss my family…My village!” She sobbed against his chest, burying her face into his chest.

He wrapped his arms around her, patting her back comfortingly. He whispered consoling words in her ear. She cried in his embrace until exhaustion consumed her.

He stroked the hair of the sleeping beauty in his arms and shifted so she would be more comfortable.

“Sango…I’ve felt something for you…Since the moment I looked into your eyes…Something more than I’ve felt for another woman…” He sighed and stared at his cloth-and-mala-bead-covered hand. “Unless I can find the great Tenshi and rid my family of this curse…Then I fear I will never be happy…Fore that means I won’t be with you…Who would want a wayward monk with a cursed kazana, who was doomed to die from the moment he was born?”

He sighed and placed his chin on Sango’s head. Allowing as slight smile to play on his lips at the thought of being able to enjoy her company, if only for a moment.

Kagome gathered her things for a bath and slowly made her way to the hot springs; humming to herself along the way. She stopped dead in her tracks at the sight of Sango sobbing in Miroku’s embrace. She promptly turned on her heel, blushing all the way back to the camp.

“Oi, wench!” Inuyasha gruffly called out to her. “I thought you were going to bathe!”

She didn’t answer, merely murmured for him to go catch dinner while she thought over what she had seen.

‘They would make an adorable couple…With Miroku keeping Sango’s mind from her family-less-ness and Sango keeping his perverted ways in check. Oh, I hope if they have children that they get Miroku’s attractive violet eyes! Whoa!! Going too far there Kagome! They aren’t even a couple yet!’

Later, after they had eaten their rabbit, the group prepared for bed. Sango set her mat next to Miroku, although a good distance from him, and crawled under a cover with Kirara nestled in with her. Miroku was thrown on his mat after he had ‘fallen asleep’ earlier during dinner.

As Kagome was setting up her mat, she noticed Inuyasha didn’t look well at all. She decided to skip sleep and keep an eye on him, making sure he was well.

As Inuyasha was almost sure everyone had fallen asleep, he watched as the forest grew dim with the setting sun and his claws shorten their length until they were merely blunt human-like nails. He sighed as he felt he senses dull and he strength leave him. He knew his ears had moved from adorable puppy ears on the top of his head to normal human ears on the sides. He lifted his once silvery locks and confirmed their inky blackness. He sighed and pulled his knees to his chest, feeling very vulnerable. He felt exhausted from the lack of sleep during the past week. He had trouble trying to keep his eyes open, making sure no harm came to Kagome and the others during the night.

‘I really do hope nothing decides to attack during the night. Especially not that fucking wolf-shit-for-brain, Kouga. Thinking Kagome’s his! Fucking bastard!’ He tried to growl and closed his eyes in embarrassment when it came out as sounding strangled.

Kagome opened her eyes to check on Inuyasha and gasped at his change in appearance. She sat up and stared at him wide-eyed in shock.

“I…Inuyasha?” He locked scared gazes with her.

‘Fuck! I knew I should have gone in the tree!!’

“Wha…What happened!?” She stood up and walked over to him, hardly daring to touch him, fearing it was all a dream.

He looked away, down at the forest floor. “You weren’t supposed to see…”

“See what? What’s wrong with you!?” She kneeled in front of him, genuine concern filling her eyes.

“I…” He sighed and patted a spot on the ground next to him. “It’s a long story…” The miko took the hint and sat on the ground next to him, leaning her head on his shoulder.

Inuyasha cursed everything for it being his night of vulnerability. If anything, the jolts he felt from Kagome, only intensified on this night.

“Okay…” He began telling everything he knew. This incited many questions from the female, thus causing the story to be much longer than firstly intended.

After he told his tale, he half expected her to point and laugh at him. He hadn’t expected for the warm hug that seemed to last an eternity before he wrapped his arms around her as well.

“Don’t worry Inuyasha…I promise I will stay by your side during the full moon.” She whispered against his shoulder and his heart swelled with an unknown emotion.

Before exhaustion completely consumed him, he managed to mumble a coherent “You… smell nice…” To the miko before his head landed in her lap.

She blushed and shifted so that he would be more comfortable. “You smell nice too, Inuyasha…” She smiled as she idly played with strands of his ebony-colored tresses.

-yawns- This authoress is tired! She has to get up early every morning now for stupid school. Plus, I am not a morning person…Those two don’t mix…But, I’m overly giddy for some strange reason…I don’t question it…I wouldn’t if I were you either, at least I updated.
