In the shadowy moonlight, the youkai with the gorgeous eyes that were black as coal, watched a village from the sky. He could see families as they began to return to their huts for bed, as well as the shopping district closing for the night.
As the village prepare for bed, Tashomaru looked over the proximity surronding it. Since the village was surrounded by woods, cliffs, lakes and open fields, any youkai could come in an attack, so he used his spiritual powers to call forth a barrier, thus protecting the village for another night. He didn't have to do this, but thought it would be best for his child. As the breeze blew through his ebony stands, Tashomaru landed on the ground and headed for the manor behind him. To any other being, the large area behind him looked like nothing more a field of sunflowers, but it was actually a hand-made manor known as the Ebony Manor.
The village bellow him was Tutsumi Village that required you to have to walk a long, dark path that was surrounded by thick willow trees. Coming here about eight humans ago, Tashomaru came to the village in hope of finding a settle piece of land to construct his home, when a few youkai attacked the simple town. He killed them easily, which made the humans bow to his feet. After meeting with the village headman, Tashomaru agreed he would keep the village safe at night if they allowed him to live on their land, so he constructed his home past a thick forest that only contained small animals.
And so, every night, he kept his word. But now, it wasn't for the simple humans, it was for his daughter also. Sighing, Tashomaru headed to the rice paper door that led into the dim lit corridors. Sliding the doors close, the youkai made his way to the kitchen. Opening a cabinet, Tashomaru pulled out a bowl of rice and headed of to his chambers. Walking down a dark hall, the youkai made a stop at a doorway and peeped inside.
In the colored-glass room, a child slept soundly in her crib. Her breathing was regular and her small tiger ears twiched. Coming to her, Tashomaru placed a hand on her soft hair, twirling his fingers through out her little curls. 'She has the face and skin of her mother, as well as her spirtual powers. Her eyes though, are those of the Ebony clan.' Sighing, Tashomaru left the room, closing the door softly behind him. Carrying his bowl of rice, the youkai thought to himself, "She has much to learn, things that I may not be able to teach her. After all, what can I teach her about being a half tiger and half human?"
