Never Forget Me
Disclaimer:
I do not own Inuyasha and Co. Wish I did, though.
Rain dotted the ground like freshwater tears, mourning the loss of a great soul. As a demon, the stoic lord had never been one to cry. But as he stood there staring at the lone grave, his molten amber eyes prickled with hot tears threatening to fall.
She was gone.
Her life had been short, but happy. He would never forget the day he had held her in his arms, feeling her body warm up again after bringing her back to life. He would never forget her joyful laugh at life's ups and downs, her cheerful personality, the smile that told him to never give up, to hold on just a little bit longer.
Now he would never see her again, no matter how hard he tried. He had watched her die, standing there like an idiot. Because of him, his darling little girl was gone forever. Her terrified shriek still echoed in his ears, her scared face frozen into his mind for all eternity. The evil demon has just snuck up behind her and attacked, all for the single diamond she carried around her neck. The girl's last words to him had been,
”Never forget me. Promise. . . promise me that I'll always be in your heart.”
Then, eyes shining half from pain and half from love, she had taken her last breath, a smile on her face. Now, the face that had meant so much to him was buried six feet under ground, many of the vibrant flowers she had so loved covering her final resting area.
I will never forget you, my beloved Rin.
With these last words, Lord Sesshomaru turned on his heel and walked into the setting sun, a rare smile on his pale face.
She was in a better place now.
