Apologize: I'm really sorry for the very late update, but I don't know why my computer won't let me upload a chapter. But now it's a real miracle it's already working. My friend did something and I don't know how. But he still said there's nothing he did. He also said there's nothing wrong with it. I don't know, I don't care, but what important is its already fixed!!! Wheeee!!!!! I'll type as fast as I can to upload the next chapter to make up to ya!!!

warning: I know that my English is very bad. If it's reallllllllyyyyyy bad that you reached the point that you can't understand what I'm saying, pls. tell me and I will try my best to look for the best editor I could find. As much as possible I don't like someone editing my work, you see, I have a very odd habit of adding the best part of the story while typing it. In short, I usually don't follow my drafts. In other words again ^___^;;;;;;; I write my stories on the spot….

And I know that's really bad…… I'm really sorry. It's just… I think it's so impossible to find an editor that will have the patience for editing my work about 7 times and above…… ^__^;;;;;;;

Chapter 3: `An Enemy? Or a Friend…………?'

"Why didn't you tell me you already met him?!" asked Rin. They were back in the kitchen and Kagome was helping Rin wash the dishes.

"Duh! I didn't know it was him. And you don't have to know. The introduction didn't go too well. He's such an idiot!" Kagome rolled her eyes and handed the next dish to Rin.

"Idiot? That's nice." Rin stated while wiping the dish dry.

"Nice?!!" Kagome looked at her like she had grown a second head. "What's nice for being an idiot?!"

"Well in some other way, that's good for him. It means he's back to normal. But still, he's scary when he gets mad, especially when it's about his past girlfriend."

"Past?" Kagome asked quizzically.

"Yeah. If you heard about the airplane crash a few months ago, his girlfriend was among the passengers that died. Few have survived. Other bodies were still missing up to now. When the news was first told to him by his friend, he's all messed up. He never sleeps nor eats until he gets even a little information about his girlfriend's whereabouts. He went outside the country to make sure the searching is getting well done. I really think she's already dead and so are the others whom he paid to look for Kikyou-`alive' But he keeps insisting she's still alive. Hey! Come to think of it…," Rin looked at her intensely, "You're a dead ringer for Ms. Kikyou!"

"First of all Kikyo isn't dead." They both jumped at the sudden sound of the voice behind them. They both turned around to see Inuyasha approaching.

"Second, I don't want anyone talking about her in my property." He stopped at the passage door and leaned at the side. "Last, she doesn't resemble any of my girlfriend's features."

"Oh my God………. I'm very, very sorry Sir Inuyasha!" Rin panicked.

Inuyasha stood in front of them, sending a death glare over them. He first glared at Rin, who suddenly finds the floor interesting and her lower lip trembling, then to Kagome.

To his surprise, Kagome was sending him the same deadly look.

"Stop scaring her!" Kagome scolded.

Inuyasha was taken back, not by her sudden outburst. He had seen this face before. The pure anger yet has other different emotion hidden but still distinctive. To Kikyou, he had seen this face quite some times……. Anger filled of jealousy but with love. However, there's something different at this face that's in front of him right now…… but can't put a finger on it.

Kagome glared at Inuyasha, but noticed he was staring at her blankly. Something was consuming his mind deeply. She saw pain, sadness and longing in his eyes, or so she thought. But still it's quite familiar `cause she had known this feeling for so long to recognize. The same feeling whenever she sees Souta trying to understand their situation. The feeling whenever she sees her mother's poor condition. The feeling whenever she remembers her grandfather. The very same feeling after her father left them……

`He's in ………… pain………' Kagome thought.

They were still staring at each other when they had been awaken by Rin's sobbing. Kagome quickly turned to Rin to stop her crying.

"Shhhh……. don't cry……." Kagome caressed her back.

Inuyasha, being weak for this kind of things, tried his best to stop her sobbing.

"O-oi……. D-don't cry. I didn't mean to ……." Reaching a hand to her, he tried his best to ease her sobs. The sound of a crying girl is just too much for him to bear. It's like the sound of a screeching chalk or finger nail against a black board. A scratching pentel pen against a paper…. a howling puppy in pain, a blabbering seat mate in English class…….. errrrr….... you get the point, right?

"What happened?" a monotone voice asked behind them, or behind Inuyasha for that matter.

"S-sesshoumaru-sama!?" Rin quickly wiped her eyes with her apron and tried her best to hide her tear-stained face in a forceful smile.

"Nothing Sesshoumar-sama. My eyes just caught some dust." Rin lied. Sesshoumaru just stared at them. Obviously, her lie is unbelievable for him.

"Both eyes at the same time? Pesky little dust, ain't they?" Sesshoumaru asked sarcastically in a monotone voice. The three of them didn't say anything, or rather, can't say anything.

"Rin, come with me upstairs. Inuyasha, why are you taking so long just to give some stupid envelope to that wench?" He made the last sentence more like a statement than a question. He didn't wait for any answers and preceded heading to the staircase. Rin started to follow but when she was sure he was out of ear sight, she turned to Inuyasha.

"Don't worry sir Inuyasha. It isn't your fault. I'm not going to say anything to him."

Inuyasha crossed his arms on his chest, "Keh! Like I'm scared of him!" Inuyasha said grumpily. Rin just shrugged and went after Sesshoumaru.

Inuyasha just stared at where Rin was standing recently, so did Kagome. Then, he finally looked up at Kagome, who also did the same. An awkward silence occurred.

Looooooooong awkward silence………………………. (v'.'), (".v)

still an awkward silence……………. (v'.'), (".v)

Incase your wondering……………………… it's still an awkward silence.

And finally! Inuyasha decided to cut the awkward silence and cleared is throat. The annoying cute face and the arrogant voice came back.

"Oi bitch! Here are the papers you have to show to the principal." He handed her the envelope, and she quickly opened and read it. "Now, father told me to volunteer for the teachers to show you around," she wasn't paying attention for what he was saying and just continued reading the paper carefully.

`Finally! I can continue studying!!! Thank you so much Kami-sama!!!!' she thought.

"But I won't. So you have to pretend like I did. When father asked you, just lie to him and say I already did. I don't have time for bitches like you." Inuyasha said, turning his back on her and started to leave.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't listening, you were saying?" Kagome snapped out of her thoughts and just noticed that there is someone talking to her.

"Keh!! You mean I'm talking like an idiot here?!" Inuyasha turned to face her and threw his arms in his sides in frustrations.

"You're not like an idiot…….." Kagome said yearningly. Her voice was soft and calm. Her eyes staring into his with concern. He stared back, surprise at the expression she was giving to him.

"You `are' an idiot." Kagome stated flatly. In a blink of an eye, the `concern' mask disappeared, breaking their eye contact. She inserts back the paper in the envelope and put it inside her uniform's pocket, patting it like a precious possession.

"So you were saying?" Kagome asked innocently.

"B*tch! I said you have to lie to my father and say that I volunteered to show you around the school and introduced you to the others even though I didn't!"

"Why is that?!" Kagome asked a little pissed.

"'Cuz I don't have time!" Inuyasha's voice rose.

"But I don't know anyone there!" Kagome rose back.

"That's none of my business!" Inuyasha threw his arms in the air. (Not literally! It's still attached!)

"B-but. Fine then!!! …I……I understand….." Kagome's last statement was more like a whisper but Inuyasha managed to hear.

"What?" Inuyasha asked.

"If it's about your searching operation for your girlfriend, I understand." Kagome's face has an expression of thoughtfulness-for real this time. For a moment, Inuyasha was astonished by her action, but decided to fight back for falling again.

"Keh! I don't need you pity! I won't do what father said because I have to hangout at the bar with my friends!" Inuyasha closed his eyes, nose up in the air crossing his arms on his chest and walking away. He knew Kagome was flushed in anger. Now, picture this in a slow motion. Kagome threw a flying plate to his head but he quickly got out of the way, still in the same position. He just smirked at her, one eye open, and saw Kagome clenching her fists at her side, steam coming out of her ears. He continued to smirk at her and didn't notice the not-so-friendly wall in his way and greeted him with a loud `BLAG!'. Back to the average speed. He landed on the floor in a not -so-gracefully manner. Kagome just laughed at him, holding her stomach and the other hand on a chair for support. "Really now Sir Inuyasha *snicker* I didn't know you're such a great comedian!!!"

He just stormed out of the kitchen. Then he came back, hands in his pocket then leaned at the door frame.

"You remember that I'm one of your bosses here, right?" He asked mischievously. Kagome stopped laughing. Her face was like her blood was drained straight down to her feet. The only respond she managed was a very cute but funny "Gulp……"

"I thought so." Inuyasha smirked at her then left. Kagome just stomped like a child.

"Grrrrrrrrr…….. I HATE HIM!!!!!" was all Kagome managed to say out loud to release her anger. Her voice echoed through the hallway.

"One point." Inuyasha muttered to himself while smiling evilly.

Kagome stood in front of her huge new school. A four story high L-shaped building. The first half of the building that bends at the north has a very nice rooftop while the other half of the building that bends at the east has a roof painted in green. At the left side of the clearing is the school cafeteria and at the side of the cafeteria is a nice restaurant. `Pretty neat.' She thought. The whole school ground was covered in very green lawn, except the cemented pathway that leads to the school's main gate. The clearing has some trees that serve like the school's fence. As Kagome looked around, very few students can be seen. `I guess I'm pretty early then……' she muttered to herself. `Can't help it……. I'm still nervous……..' She sighed very deeply and put a smile for courage as she entered the gate.

After the principal read the paper Kagome handed to him, she was lead to her homeroom. But before they got there, she couldn't help but notice more and more students are arriving but that's not the point. Every time there's a student coming, he or she will take a glance at her and then, their heads will turn to look at her again with their faces showing either an expression of surprise, happiness or angriness. This made her puzzled. Then she heard some people glancing at her, whispering or buzzing and caught up some words like "looks", "alike", "back", and a name sounded like "Kyoko" or something like "Kiyo". She heard a very clear gasp at her back and what she heard is something like "She's alive?!". As she was waiting the principal to finish the phone call he received that interrupted them for heading to her room and feeling more and more uncomfortable at the awkward stares she's receiving, she felt at light tap on her shoulder. She turned around and saw………

"Inuyasha! Oh……. I mean Sir Inuyasha." She corrected.

He leaned closer so his lips were just beside her ears. This caused her to blush in light pink. Then he whispered, "Just to warn you, try making up things here if you don't want your `back to school' felicidad turn into a disaster. I'm not that cruel. You could call me here Inuyasha just to help you for your act." His lips were so close at her neck that she could feel his breath against there. That made her spine shivered. Inuyasha lifted his head up with a satisfied smirk and walked away, hands in his pocket. He knows the effect he did to her.

Kagome tried to ignore the effect he did to her and started darting her thoughts to what he had said. "What does he mean about that?" She asked her self mentally. Her thoughts were cut when she heard the door behind her opened.

"Oh I'm sorry to keep you waiting, Higurashi." The principal smiled at her warmly. "My wife keeps asking who is Laika that she found the name in my cell phone. I have to repeat gazillion times that that is her cousin she introduced to me last week for business talk." He sighed deeply and shook his head. Kagome just tried to smile but turned awkward. "She's always jealous at any girl she sees near me. *sigh* but I can't blame her. I'm such a hottie for any women to resist." Kagome stared at him dumbfounded. "Oh don't look at me like that. High school girls are an exception." Kagome looked at him in disbelief. She rolled her eyes and decided to leave the matter.

As the introduction inside the room goes, the principal finally said, "So students, you could now ask Higurashi anything you want."

A girl in front raised her hand in a very feminine matter. "Higurashi? I don't recognize your name. What family are you from? I mean what sort of business does your family run? You sure are some people because you managed to enter this school. Unless, you're like Sango-chan."

Half of the class burst on laughing. The other half didn't find it entertaining. Kagome now understood what Inuyasha had said.

"So this is what he meant……" She thought bitterly. She muttered something like `Rich people…….' Then turned her gaze down to the girl that has been mentioned and she noticed she was trying to hold back her tears.

"Now, now. Ms. Ikari, that isn't very nice you know?" The principal commented. The laughing sounds ease a little then faded.

"So, Higurashi," Ikari continued. "What family are you from?"

Kagome was stunned. She didn't know what to answer. All these people are from rich families. She won't make herself a joke in front of them! So she decided………..

"I-I'm Inuyasha's cousin." is the first thing came knocking in her mind.

All the students looked at her wide-eyed. Silence conquered the room. Even the principal looked at her, jaw dropped. Ikari broke the silence.

"Y-you're from his family? OMG. No wonder you could attend this school!!!

W-welcome Kagome-chan!!!!" She said in excitement but still a little stunned. All the students started to try to have a chat with her too. Suddenly, she was treated like some famous star and others started to offer a chair from their side for her.

"Silent!!!" The principal cut them off. "Higurashi, you could sit at the unoccupied desk beside Ms. Hotaru Sango."

Kagome darted to the desk the principal told her to. When she sat, she could hear some students groaned in disappointment. The principal left them as he bids goodbye then the teacher started their first lesson. When Kagome felt her new classmates stopped staring at her and their attention was now in the lecture their teacher was writing on the blackboard, she focused her attention to the girl beside her.

"Hi, I was wondering if we could….. ummmmm…….. be f-friends? I-I'm Higurashi Kagome." She smiled sweetly but the girl paid no attention to her. She just continued to copy the lectures. Kagome's eye brows slightly furrowed in question why this girl looks like she's angry at her. She held her hands with a smile on her lips to shake hers when she noticed she lifted her hand a bit and thought that she was going to do the same thing but it turns out that she was just getting an eraser from her bag. Kagome's smile disappeared slightly and lowered her hands.

"So……….. can we be friends?" Kagome asked hopefully again.

"Buzz off, girl." was Hotaru Sango's only reply.

"W-wha-" Kagome was cut off by the teacher's comment about the noise she was making or so she said.
