Heaven's A Lie by Lacuna Coil

Oh no,

Here it is again

I need to know

When I will fall in decay

Something wrong

With every plan of my life

I didn't really notice that you've been here

Dolefully desired

Destiny of a lie

Set me free

Your heaven's lie

Set me free with your love

Set me free

Oh no,

Here it is again

I need to know

Why did I choose to betray you

Something wrong

With all the plans of my life

I didn't realize that you've been here

Dolefully desired

Destiny of a lie

Set me free

Your heaven's lie

Set me free with your love

Set me free

Set me free your heaven's lie

Set me free with your love

Set me free

Sesshomaru sat before the open fireplace in his study. He stared at the dancing flames in deep thought. Another week had passed since the young woman had gained consciousness. There was something about her and he could sense it as well as smell it on her. Oddly she didn't have a scent of her own. The smell was so familiar to him but also unlike any he had smelled on someone.

He stroked his chin in thought. It was more than clear to him that she was not human. She was a demon but he had yet to figure out which type she was. The Inu-Daisho was in such deep thought that he did not realize that she had entered the room. Aliya stood in the entryway of the study watching him. Over the past week, Aliya would wonder through the palace aimlessly in search of something that she never could find.

Usually around that time of the day Sesshomaru was out elsewhere within the palace attending to his daily duties so she was surprised to find the demon lord sitting in the study. She bit down on her bottom lip. Sesshomaru turned his eyes towards the door and was taken aback to see the young woman standing in the room. The two stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like a century before Aliya broke her gaze away from the Inu-Daisho.

"Good evening," she whispered. Sesshomaru raised his eyebrows slightly before his face returned to its usual passiveness. He turned his gaze back towards the fire. "I-I didn't realize that you were in here. I'll leave..." she said quickly more than happy to get away from those haunting golden eyes that reminded her a bit of him although they were clearly colder with little to no emotion within them.

"You do not have to leave..." Sesshomaru's voice called to her. Aliya clasped her hands together as she turned back and looked at the demon lord. "Sit..." The young woman nodded and walked slowly over to him. She sunk to down to the ground, curling her legs underneath her body. Aliya placed her hands in her lap and stared down at them.

They sat in silence enjoying the warmth of the fire. Aliya took a deep breath and let it out slowly. Sesshomaru turned his gaze towards her and watched her as she stared down at her lap. He had long suspected that whatever had happened to her had caused her to become cold. From the day they met until this moment she always had this sad far away look in her eye.

Sesshomaru stood up and took her hand from her lap. He lifted her up onto her feet and looked down at her. "You cannot continue to allow you're own despair and anger against those who have hurt you to consume you," Sesshomaru said to her. "What do you know about despair and anger!? You don't even know what I had to endure!" she snapped at him.

She tried to push past him but the Inu-Daisho grabbed her and turned her towards him. "Do not tell me about despair and anger... for years I let it destroy me. My father died because he fell in love with a human woman. Hate for humanity was the only emotion I knew..." Aliya's frown disappeared and she looked up at him. She opened her mouth but the only sound that escaped was a soft intake of breath.

"I...." she began and closed her eyes turning her face away. "You don't know..." Sesshomaru watched this expressional change in her. Her face was filled with great pain. What happened to cause her this much pain? The Inu-Daisho pushed the reflecting thought from his mind. He did not need to understand her. Letting her go roughly, he turned away from Aliya. "You're right I don't know..."

The young woman watched as Sesshomaru returned to his chair staring heatedly at the fire. She stared up at the ceiling asking for guidance. She had not meant to hurt his feelings or even agitate him but she could still feel the pain of betrayal within her heart. Turning Aliya walked out of the room leaving the Inu-Daisho alone.

The demon lord turned his gaze towards the door as he heard her leave the room. He growled angrily at himself. He was could not fathom why it was so important to him for her to feel again but it was. He felt that she reminded him of himself but there was more to it than that. He had grown to look forward to seeing her face every day. "I've grown weak..." he said to himself.
