Sesshomaru kept his expressionless gaze focused ahead. Behind him his half-brother and his companion the okami found it hard to keep up with the determined Inu-Daisho. Inuyasha frowned gently to himself as he looked down at the ground. He had never expected that his cold-hearted brother was capable of ever falling in love. And here he was in love with the same young woman has he was in love with.
That simple fact had hurt him deeply when he saw Aliya again after such a long time apart. The young woman not only reeked of the youkai but also bore him an heir. Inuyasha frowned gently. "Sesshomaru, if Naraku took her we are running out of time." The Inu-Daisho Lord stopped in the middle of the path. Sesshomaru's clenched his fists tightly as he glared down at the dirt underneath his feet.
Koga crossed his arms over his chest and turned his head away. He had noticed something that the brothers probably hadn't. Both were too busy being involved in their own inner turmoil not to notice that they had been competing with each other to find her and was making everything more worse than it needed to be and it was irritating him.
A deep chested growl vibrated from his chest as he raised his face. "Are you two finished?" he snapped. Inuyasha and Sesshomaru turned to look at the Okami. Both were watching him with their golden eyes.
"Are you two finished trying to compete with each other to find Aliya? I hope you are because if not then we might as turn around and accept that Naraku has her and will kill her. Why can't you two put aside your petty differences for her sake?"
Inuyasha looked down at the ground. Koga is right. If I can't let go of the fact that Sesshomaru has won Aliya's heart we wont be able to find her. "Fine..." he said as he turned back to the path. "We'll find her..." With this new found determination they made their way down the path again trying to find any trace of Aliya. As they walked Sesshomaru caught a scent on the wind. The Inu-Daisho froze on the main path.
"What is it?" Inuyasha asked him. Sesshomaru's nose wrinkled slightly as he sniffed the air. Inuyasha followed his brother's example and sniffed the air along with him. "Is that..." he said. Sesshomaru growled, his golden eyes turned red. Immediately the three youkai took off running off the main path towards the direction of the scent.
As the morning light poured through the window inside the dark room, Aliya slowly awoke. She took a breath trying to relieve the pain that she felt in her back when she coughed and choked. The air in the room was thick and heavy with the scent of blood. The young woman groaned tiredly. "Awake?" came a voice from within the room. Aliya raised her face to see Naraku watching her.
A vicious smirk was upon his face as he looked down upon the young woman. Her lovely body hung in a lewd position from his exploits the previous night. He approached her slowly watching the young woman desperately try to move away from him. Naraku loomed over her admiring the whip marks he had left upon her back.
"Are you ready again?" he asked her as he reached out as he stroked her face. "Naraku...." she whispered. "Please... I will ... do anything... just... let me go..." The youkai glared down upon her. "You are pathetic... begging for your life. Do you think that that Inu-Daisho cares about you?" he growled.
"Sesshomaru loves me..." she said, her face twisting with anger. "Is that so? Then why isn't he here right now? He knows where my palace is and where to find me. He hasn't come for you."
Aliya shook her head refusing to believe the youkai but in her mind it seemed logical. When she had been caught listening in to their conversation the day before it was clear that Sesshomaru and Naraku knew each other.
"No... he.. does love me... he made me his mate," she said, her heart started to feel that familiar feeling of desperation. She needed it to be true. She could not bare to have her heart broken a second time. Naraku smirked as he watched the young woman trying to fight her feeling of heartbreak.
He leaned down close to her ear. "Do you think he wants you? Now that he knows?" Naraku placed his finger into the mark of the Inu-Daisho. Aliya threw back her head and screamed in pain. The youkai lowered his mouth to her neck and sucked on it causing more excruiciating pain to shoot through her body. "You are mine... you will always be mine..." he growled into her flesh.
Aliya pulled her head back as far as it would go. "No. I am not yours. I wasn't yours when I was Aeiru and I am not yours now." She hissed through clenched teeth as pain racked her body. Naraku pulled back his face filled with more rage than ever before. He stepped back from her. The youkai walked over to the table in the room and picked something up. He looked back at her something, flashing in his eyes.
Aliya sobbed as she watched the glint of the knife dance around the room. She raised her eyes to the youkai. Naraku stepped forward pressing the tip of the blade against her flesh. As he drug the tip across her skin he watched as her skin separated slightly and blood seeped to the surface.
The young woman closed her eyes gritting her teeth against the pain when she felt herself sink inside her consciousness. Her eyes snapped open, her golden orbs glowing. "Omae o korosu..." she whispered.
Naraku stepped back realising the change in the young woman. He had little time to shield himself when a ball of water flew at him. The youkai flew back from the force of the blow. Aliya stood up on her feet ignoring the seering pain shooting through her legs. Her hair floated with the power that was radiating through her. She pulled her arms close together. "I have had enough..." she said her voice was hollow with no feeling.
The youkai growled as he dodged several of the young woman's attacks. I should have known. When her memories had returned to her that her powers would as well... he thought as he managed to dodge another one. He growled. "I am going to enjoy killing you..." he said to her. "You touch her... and I'll break both your legs and burn down your palace," came a voice from the doorway.
Aliya turned her golden eyes from Naraku towards the direction of the voice. Her mouth fell open slightly as she watched her mate, his half-brother and her friend enter into the room. "Sess... homaru..." she breathed. The Inu-Daisho turned his golden gaze towards her. Inuyasha's eyes widened as he saw his beloved hanging from chains at the far end of the room.
Sesshomaru's eyes stared at Aliya before he slowly turned them towards Naraku. His eyes glowed a fiery red color as he roared lunging at the unprepared youkai. Naraku had to leap back to avoid the angry Inu-Daisho's attacks. Sesshomaru waved his hand in the air as the long threaded whip cracked through the air to hit the youkai.
Inuyasha and Koga approached Aliya and broke her chains from around her wrists. Koga turned his face away as Inuyasha caught her in his arms. The hanyou bit down on his bottom lip as he saw the marks on her body. "Oh.. Aliya," he whispered, sighing as he took off his red fire rat haori and wrapped it around her. He quickly lifted her into his arms. "Sesshomaru..." he shouted over the fighting.
"Get her out of here!" the Inu-Daisho Lord growled as he slammed his fist into the youkai's face. Naraku turned his gaze to see Aliya in the arms of one of his enemies. "NO!" he shouted as he made to move towards the hanyou. Sesshomaru slid before him drawing Tokijin. "Stay away from my mate..." he hissed as he swung the sword.
The hanyou didn't need to be asked a second time. He tightened his grip on the young woman and jumped up through the roof of the palace. Koga followed after him leaving the Inu-Daisho alone with Naraku. The youkai narrowed his eyes on the Lord. "Do you think you have won?" he said. Sesshomaru ignored him as he lunged at him in attack.
Naraku smirked as he easily dodged the Inu-Daisho's attack. "Did you ever wonder how she knew your brother? Or even how she knows me?" Sesshomaru swung the blade of the Tokijin and growled as the powerful blade missed the youkai by mere inches. "Your connection to my mate does not matter to me. What matters is that I kill you for taking her..."
"You know you want to know... you want to know that she was to be my mate..." Naraku said watching the expression on Sesshomaru's face change. "That's right... Aliya was to be my mate a few years ago when she was a demon by the name of Aeiru. The hanyou found her and took her from me. He slept with her..."
Sesshomaru frowned as he stopped his attack just as the tip of Tokijin was poised at the youkai's throat. He stared at the youkai just as he started laughing and disappeared. The Inu-Daisho growled. I had him... he thought angrily as he turned and made his way out of the disintegrating palace. The Lord pushed off with his feet and took off in the direction of his half-brother.
Inuyasha and Koga stopped running finally. They looked down at the young woman the hanyou held clutched to his chest. "Aliya?" he whispered. The young woman opened her eyes and looked at him through half opened eyes. "Hmmm..." she moaned. "Aliya... stay awake..." he said, patting her face. Koga raised his eyes to look into Inuyasha's face. "She's in pretty bad shape, Inuyasha..." he whispered.
The young woman slowly closed her eyes. "God what did he do to you?" the hanyou whispered as his brother appeared in the clearing. Inuyasha raised his eyes to look at Sesshomaru. The Inu-Daisho approached the young woman slowly. He dropped his gaze to look down at her before turning away. "Bring her to the palace..." he said walking away.
Inuyasha frowned as he watched his brother's back. Something is different about Sesshomaru. At first he couldn't wait to get Aliya and now he seems disinterested in her... Koga turned his face towards his friend and nodded in understanding. The okami had the same thought going through his mind. The young woman groaned shifting in Inuyasha's arms. "Sesshomaru... we can't take her to the palace.. its too far.... She won't make it."
The Inu-Daisho turned towards his brother and approached him. He reached out brushing Aliya's bangs from her face. Something flickered in his eyes before he slowly took the young woman from Inuyasha. He held her in his arm and looked down at her face. Sesshomaru raised his eyes towards his brother's. "Was Aliya, Naraku's mate?" he asked him smoothly.
Inuyasha frowned. "Did Naraku tell you that?" he growled. The Inu-Daisho didn't say anything just merely looked at his younger brother. "Its a long story but the shortened version is that Aliya at one time was supposed to be his mate, yes..."
Sesshomaru growled interrupting the hanyou who glared at him continuing on. "BUT..." he snapped. "I had lured her into sleeping with me... I told Naraku what had happened and he killed her for it. Sesshomaru that wasn't this Aliya... that was Aeiru. Aliya chose you over us all..."
The Inu-Daisho looked at Inuyasha. "I know..." he said, he held his mate close to his body the smell of her blood invading his senses. He frowned as he removed his brother's coat and turned his mate over. When he saw the wounds on her back flowered in several places. The Great Lord growled angrily as he gently moved his fingers over the open wounds cause Aliya flinched in her unconscious state.
"That... kisama..." he hissed under his breath as he held Aliya to his chest. Sesshomaru turned to his brother. "I am taking her home..." Without waiting for his brother's reply, the Inu-Daisho took off into the darkening day.
Inuyasha frowned while Koga watched them disappear beyond the horizon. "Do you think he will do something to her?" the Okami asked him. Inuyasha didn't answer him. For his brother's sake he had hoped not. Or he would kill him. He ran his fingers through his hair. Inuyasha did not want to admit it but he was very worried for Aliya's safety now that his brother knew the truth about her past. The hanyou made a silent vow if anything happened to her that he would take her from his brother.
Sesshomaru frowned as he leaned forward in his chair. He placed the tips of his fingers together and placed them before his face thoughtfully. When he had met Aliya two years ago he had not questioned how she came upon his lands but now that he had been told the truth by both Naraku and his brother he had become angry with his mate. Why hadn't she told him the truth? Why did she hide something this serious? Not only had Aliya at one time been chosen by Naraku to be his mate, she had also been with his half-brother.
The sound of a soft moan drew him out of his thoughts. Sesshomaru turned his gaze towards the bed. Aliya was sitting up her head in her hand as she was slowly coming to. "Ung..." she groaned as she raised her head. The young woman gave a startled cry when she realized she was in a different room. It took her only a moment to realize that she had been returned to the palace.
Aliya turned her head to find Sesshomaru watching her with a cold gaze. "Sesshomaru..." she breathed, her voice strangled with pain and sadness. The Inu-Daisho watched his mate as she rose from the bed and crossed the short distance from the bed to his chair. The young woman threw herself onto his lap. She gripped his pants tightly in her hands as she broke out into sobs.
The Inu-Daisho looked down at his crying mate. Sesshomaru had wanted to push her off him, to harden his heart against her but at the sound of her sobbing he found that he couldn't. He reached out and placed his hand on her head. Sesshomaru ran his fingers through her hair. "Oh Sesshomaru..." Aliya said into his lap. "I... He told me that you wouldn't come for me. That after I bore you Lily as an heir you wouldn't want anything to do with me."
Sesshomaru frowned when he heard this. That kisama youkai... He thought viciously. So he had tried to put distance between Aliya and I. He must have reasoned that if Aliya thought I was going to live her with him and by telling me what happened in the past, we both would turn against each other....
The Inu-Daisho slipped his hand underneath the chin of his mate and lifted her face so that he could look her in the face. Aliya looked up at Sesshomaru as tears streamed down her face. "Why had you not told me about your past?" he said, his voice was devoid of any emotion. He watched as fear appeared on her face. Her eyes widened and she tried to pull away from him but he quickly slipped his hand from underneath her chin to the back of her head to prevent her from getting away from him.
Aliya stared into the eyes of her mate knowing that he was angry with her. She reached back placing her hand on his wrist not taking her eyes of his face. "I.... couldn't tell you..." she whispered. "When I realized that Inuyasha was your brother... I knew that you two didn't have much of a relationship or he would have told me about you. I feared what you would do to me if you found out." A flicker of rage flashed in the golden orbs of the Inu-Daisho before he spoke again. "And Naraku?"
The young woman's eyes shifted and he saw traces of fresh tears appearning in her eyes. "I... I..." she stammered not knowing what to say at the moment. Aliya closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "When I learned about Inuyasha's past with him, I knew that you too disliked him. And then when he appeared here...." She shuddered. Sesshomaru's jaw tightened at the thought of seeing Naraku grasping Aliya by her throat.
He then knew that Aliya had great fear in what would have happened to her if he was friends with Naraku. The Inu-Daisho continued to look his mate in her face and saw that she had regretted not telling him about her relationship with both youkai but he knew she had done so for a reason. His golden eyes narrowed slightly as he tried to realize what this reason was.
Aliya opened her eyes again peering her mate into his eyes. "I also...." she began, her voice barely above a whisper. "I wanted nothing more than to have a second chance.... to start over. And when we had... slept together I had decided to forget both Inuyasha and Naraku."
Sesshomaru remembered what his brother had said to him. She had chosen to be with the Lord over both of them. She even had given him a beautiful daughter... He leaned forward until his face was close to his mate's, his eyes boring into hers. "You will have nothing to do with my brother or Naraku?" he asked her. He stared her in her eyes to see if she was lying.
The young woman stared back at her youkai mate. "I don't want anything to do with them... I gave myself to you..." she said, her voice never wavering. A smirk flashed in the face of Sesshomaru before he leaned forward and crushed his lips against hers. He kissed her hungrily sending chills running down the young woman's spine. After a few minutes had passed, Aliya looked up at him. "Where's Lily?"
"She is protected..." he said. Sesshomaru stood up cradling the back of his mate's head. He looked down at her. His animal instinct was to claim her in their bed but he knew that it would have to wait until she had healed. The Inu-Daisho lifted her from the floor smoothly and placed her on the bed. He climbed in beside her and held her close. "You do not have to worry about Naraku any longer..." was all that he said as he held her on him.
