CHAPTER 40: SHAME

Yura backed away in fear of the boy. What had she done? Sure she was pretty twisted in her own right, but this…was just frightening. She had no idea the boy had demon in him, she knew it was dangerous to play those games, she just thought he liked to play really good dress up. She trembled when his body tensed, and she saw his claws lengthened, and purple scratch marks appeared on his cheeks. She saw his fangs clearly now, and she made to run, but tripped on one of her own hairs.

Kagome watched from the crowd as Inuyasha changed and became something she's never seen. He was growling in a way that scared her, and she stood with her friends to see the stage better. Sango grabbed Miroku, and the people in the front row were backing away from the stage. She gulped. She had this sickening feeling in her stomach, and was getting worse as Inuyasha became more frightening. She could feel her skin grow feverish, and she brought into a cold sweat. She saw Yura trip, and gasped. Inuyasha had heard her, and turned Yura's way, snarling. He took the chair he behind him and threw it randomly, almost hitting Yura and making her scream.

"We have to do something!" Sango screeched and held tighter to Miroku.

Kagome just shook her head in disbelief. What could they do against a demon Inuyasha? He was oblivious of the screams and murmuring around him, and he just scanned the terrified crowd before him like they were a meal. It made her shake. This was not the Inuyasha she knew, this was something else. But it was in Inuyasha's body, and she couldn't just stand there like a helpless idiot. The madness needed to be stopped, but how? She looked around panicked. She needed to get his attention somehow, make him focus on her. She looked painfully back to the stage. How could this happen to her beloved? She bit her lip. No matter what, she had to get to him, she needed to reach that love he has for her. She needed him back.

It dawned on her. Before Sango or Miroku could stop her, she stepped from her seat and started walking to the stage. Sango called after her, but she didn't hear. She focused al her attention on him, all her sense. She needed to make him come back, make him think. She needed her attention. She gritted her teeth in fear as Inuyasha rounded on Yura, and she tried to back away from him. She quickened her step.

"Inuyasha!"

Her voice…he could hear her voice. But it was muffled, clouded by something. His blood pounded in his ears, a hot flood raging his body. He wasn't too sure if he liked it; it scared yet excited him at the same time. It was new, different. Intoxicating. His ear twitched as she called to him again. A scent came to his nose, and he lifted his head. Lavender, flowers, something rich only one person could have. Slowly, the demon faced Kagome as she stepped onto stage. His senses recognized her, her scent, her eyes, and her female scent. Though it confused the demon why it affected him so. It made his blood scream for her, a charging heat humming in his gut.

"Inuyasha…it's me…"

"Kagome…" his voice was raspy like a person with the flu. It surprised her to find it sent shivers down her spine. Guess it didn't matter, demon, human or hanyou, he still turned her on.

He seemed to pick up on this, smelling the beginning of her arousal, for he calmed some, his red eyes looking considering. Her breath caught when he ever so calmly walked, no wait swaggered, towards her. He came but a breath away from her and her fingers trembled to touch him. He lowered his head to sniff her neck, one hand coming to caress her arm. Oh the goose flesh. His hand rested on her hip and she swayed slightly, but shook her head to clear it.

"Inuyasha, we have to get out of here." She gasped as his hand suddenly tightened on her shoulder, painfully. The fear crept back on her, forcing her to calm herself.

"You're not going anywhere…" he breathed into her neck, licking it.

God did he really have to do this? She tried to push away for his attention, protesting, but he growled and yanked her against him, digging those long claws into her shoulder. She gasped out in pain as she felt hot liquid leak from the spot. Okay, smartass, now what? How are you going to get out of this? She hated not thinking first. It always got her in trouble. She looked around frantic as Inuyasha's tongue slide over her ear. All she saw was a stunned crowd, frightened friends and Yura cowering on the stage. Wait…that's it!

"Yura…" Kagome breathed, making Inuyasha pause, but he only switched to the other side of her neck, giving Kagome perfect access to talking to Yura. "Yura!"

The poor child like woman snapped out of her stupor of fear, and looked at Kagome. Kagome swallowed her nervousness, "Yura get up and help."

The woman shook her head slowly, glancing at Inuyasha, "h-how?"

"The hair Yura, use your hair!" Kagome snapped harshly, and shut up when Inuyasha jerked her forward. Yura looked confused. What was she talking about? Could she see the hair? She must if she knew about it. But what use would it do? The hair was what started all of this, because she had…oh Jesus the girl was brilliant. Yura stood on shaky legs and raised a hand, bringing her hair to life. Gulping, hoping she wouldn't get killed, she stealthily moved the hair over to Inuyasha, silently wrapping around his neck. And yanked slightly.

Kagome heard him gasp before he fell completely unconscious, slumping against her that she stumbled trying to catch him. Slowly as to not hurt them, she kneeled on the stage and laid Inuyasha down. Sango and Miroku came running up and crouched by him.

"What happened?" Miroku asked breathless.

"Yura put him to sleep, he'll wake later," Kagome answered, looking for a confirming nod from Yura. "We have to get him out of here."

"Easier said than done," Sango commented and she took an arm, "you better thank us buddy."

&------------------------------------------------&

Kagome paced the downstairs of the beach house, driving Sango to the point of dizziness since she's watched her since she began pacing. Miroku just stared out the window. Upstairs, Inuyasha was laid on his bed comfortably.

"I don't understand, what happened?!" Kagome cried, and held back the tears that threatened. Kagome looked to Sango but she shrugged. The only person who could explain would be Miroku. But he steadfastly refused to turn. "Please Miroku, what happened to Inuyasha? You know him better than any of us."

Miroku sighed and hung his head, "I can't tell you cause I don't know. He never said anything about this. Why would he keep something like this from us?"

"Maybe," Sango held her hands together concentrating on a spot on the rug. "Maybe he didn't know either. Maybe this is something new for him. I mean, he was even awake or aware of what was going at the show when he went up."

"You think this is because he fell asleep?" Kagome asked amazed at her friend. Sango shook her head.

"Yura put him under a sleep trance, he's not aware of what's going on unless she tells him that he will. She asked him, quite plainly, what he was afraid of. We know he isn't consciously afraid of anything, but he wasn't conscious. This is something deep in his mind that awakened cause Yura asked him to waken it."

Kagome's lips trembled as she pondered, fresh tears making their way down her face. She covered her mouth with a hand, trying to hold herself, "so you're saying he doesn't even know what happened? That this is the real him?"

"No I'm not," Sango persisted, getting up to rub Kagome's arms, "I'm saying this is a side of him we've never seen. I don't think we were ever suppose to either, but Yura woke it up."

"Do you think it will happen again?" Kagome asked desperately.

"No," Miroku pushed away from the window and gave her a level gaze, "unless you plan to knock him into the dark pits of his mind, I don't think so. It just slipped through the cracks Yura made."

Kagome nodded, and held back her crying. God she was so scared for him. She never in her life would have thought this would happen. Sango saw her distress and nodded to the stairs, "go on up Kag. If he remembers anything, he's gonna need you."

They watched her go sadly, deep in her own thoughts. She trotted up the steps, going by automatic to get to her and Inuyasha's room. She opened the door to the dark room, letting the hall light spill in to light her way. She gazed upon him on the bed. He looked too innocent when sleeping, it made her wonder how he could be so arrogant and tough, or be such a wonderful lover. She would lay awake at his side just gazing at his slumbering face, playing with his hair, or tracing his features with her finger. He was so perfect to her, every angle, every notch and stretch of smooth skin. Her made her want to cry all over again.

To see him like that up on the stage had put the fear of god in her. She wasn't afraid of him no, she never could be, but it was the fact of what he could do that frightened her. He had terrified the people, showed people what he had never shown before. They would think him a monster if they ever saw him again. And by the heavens how she hated it. Why did this have to be so hard for him? Why was he so special that fate had decided to make his life hell?

Biting back on the sobs, Kagome closed the door, cutting off the light, and walked over to the bed by darkness. She slipped off her shirt and jeans, her bra and panties, and leaned over to do the same for him. Though a bit difficult, she managed to get off the t-shirt and jeans, boxers and hat, and laid him on his side. She got under the covers with him, and wrapped her arms around his middle, tucking her knees up and cuddling him. She was dimly aware of the pain in her shoulder, but she tucked her chin under his head and shut her eyes tight. She didn't want to cry, she wasn't going to. But she did anyways, silently suffering for him.

&-------------------------------------------&

Where was he? He wasn't too sure but it smelled familiar. Inuyasha sighed and opened amber eyes, confused as to why he only saw black. He lifted his head and saw it wasn't darkness but raven hair. How did he get here? Wasn't he at the show? He shifted and noticed his arm wrapped securely around Kagome, spooning her back to chest with him. He also noticed he was naked but that wasn't important right now. He wanted to know how and why he was at the house, in bed, with Kagome snuggling comfortably in his arms. He shrugged, must have had drinks or something. He nuzzled her neck, loving it when she was asleep, going lower to her shoulder blades. He felt something crusty, and pulled back, moving her hair over to see it better. Even with his vision, all he could see were four black marks, making a sort of arch. He sniffed it and froze. It was her blood. And it was still mostly fresh.

Warning bells going off, Inuyasha sat up and grabbed Kagome by the arms, shaking her awake.

"Come on Kagome wake up!" he whispered and she finally opened her eyes, a great effort on her part.

"Yasha? Wat're doing?" she mumbled sitting up, rubbing her eyes of sleep. He grabbed her hand.

"Kagome, why is there wounds on your back?"

He saw her freeze, her eyes darting back and forth suddenly, and he smelled her nerves. He crossed his brows. He didn't get it, what happened? She bit her lip considering, and flicked her eyes his way, making him see her internal struggle. "Kagome, what's wrong, tell me what happened!"

She yanked her hand from his tight grasp and instead tucked her knees up, hoping he wouldn't see her suddenly shaking hands. "You don't remember do you?"

"Remember what?" he asked desperately. She opened her mouth and closed it, "please, Kagome tell me who hurt you."

She gasped on her sob, making him worry, "you did…"

She saw his face go blank, eyes disbelieving and sad as a puppy's. So many emotions crossed his face it was hard to tell in the dim moonlight. "I…I don't…understand…"

She gripped his cold hand, choosing her words very carefully, "Inuyasha, it wasn't your fault-"

"Not my fault! Kagome I hurt you with my own hands!" he cried, and she shushed him from waking Miroku and Sango.

"You weren't yourself! Something happened at the show when you went up," Kagome began in hushed tones, "she put you in a trance or something and asked you things. She asked you what you were afraid of. And it just happened. You changed, your eyes went red, your claws grew longer, you had these, marks on your face-"

"Marks?" Inuyasha asked tensely.

"Yeah, purple ones. It was like you were mad or something. You almost attacked the woman, threw a chair at her, and you scared a lot of people. But we got you back here and you're safe."

He narrowed his eyes, "you didn't answer my question, how did I hurt you?"

She gulped and looked away, "I didn't want anything to happen, so I went up and tried to talk to you. You didn't listen really but you paid attention to me. You started…touching me, caresses, nuzzling nothing big. I tried to push away but…you dug your claws into me. But Yura managed to put you under again, and we took you home. None of this was your fault Inuyasha, it just happened, a freak accident-"

"Your right," Inuyasha said in a monotone, eyes blank, "it was freakish. Cause I'm a freak, a monster." He glanced her way, "I'm gonna go home now, you don't have to see me again if you're too afraid."

She gasped when he got up and started picking up clothes and she scrambled off the bed. She came up behind him, "no! You can't leave! It wasn't you're fault!"

"But yet I did those things!" he barked and snatched up his bag, grabbing something to wear. "I don't deserve to be here Kagome, who knows what else I'll do."

"That's not true," she sobbed, feeling her heart being squeezed. He tried to ignore her tears, he couldn't stay. He was too dangerous to be with her.

"Don't pity me, I hate pity," he growled and stalked to the door.

"I don't pity you! I love you damn it and if you walk out that door I will just go after you!" she screamed, and he paused turning around. He looked into her tearful gaze, and swallowed the lump in his throat. She panted in her frustrated sadness, and pleaded with him to stay, "please, don't walk out and leave me…I love you, no matter what. Nothing will change that, not jealous ex girlfriends, not your rich life, not your changing into some…some thing, and not even god almighty himself doesn't have the power to make me stop loving you."

"Kagome…" he whispered and the guilt tore at him, tightening his grip on the bag.

"Listen to me," she begged, her voice watery. She walked right up to him and framed his face in her small hands, "I'm never leaving you. I realized tonight, that no matter what, I love you. Even when you were snarling at people, I couldn't stop that flow I feel for you. I'm not ashamed of you, ever. I don't pity you, I don't fear you. I can't do those things because I love you too much. And if you walk out, you take my heart with you, cause no one else can have it. You hear me? You've stolen it me, and I will never take it back from you."

Inuyasha's chest contorted in shame and he tried to avoid her pleading eyes. But she would have none of it, so she pulled him down to her and kissed him with everything she had. He didn't respond for a second, but her lips were too irresistible for him to handle, and more out of comfort than need, she kissed back, slipping his tongue into her mouth slowly and tilting his heads for a better angle. Her mouth was almost desperate, and her hands flew to rid him of the shirt he had donned. He grabbed her wrists to stop her, and the panicked look in her eyes almost broke him. She really didn't want him to go. The tears pooled in her eyes as he just continued looking down at her sadly.

"Please don't go…" she breathed, balling her hands and leaning into him. "You can't leave me…"

As she leaned towards him, his guilt won and he wrapped his arms tightly around her, holding her like she would vanish into smoke. He shook his head in her hair and sniffed that wonderful scent that was laced with tears. He couldn't do this to her, he couldn't hurt her anymore than he already has. "I'm not going any where…"

He scooped her up bridal style, and gently laid her on the bed, brushing her lips lightly and tracing her jaw with his lips. He stood and let his jeans drop, and crawled on to the bed with her. She reached for him immediately, wanting to show him how much she loved him. But he stopped her hands and shook his head, "no…let me love you like you love me…"

She leaned down as he pushed her down, a whisper of a touch over her skin. She shivered in delight and arched into his touch. She wanted to feel the warmth of him, feel him come alive. But he just slowly trailed small kisses up her front, over her naval, stomach, between her breasts. She moaned when he kissed and sucked on her shoulder, the heat lapping at her. She sighed in pleasure and exposed more of her neck.

"Turn over." He said gently and she rolled over to her stomach, resting on her elbows. Her head fell forward as he rubbed his hand over he back, tingling running all through her. His tongue followed, licking right up her spine and had her melting. His hand grazed the marks on her shoulder and she tensed at the sting. He saw and eased the pain by licking it. She felt him lap at the cuts, cleaning what he had done to her. Her breath caught as the sting faded to wonderful waves of heat, spilling right down to her core. She moaned as his tongue dipped into a deep one and she flung her head back in rapture. He slowly licked them, cleaning them till there was no sign blood had ever spilled. His other hand though smoothed over her back, kneading the muscles and her bottom. Keeping his mouth on her shoulder, his hand slipped lower and over her bum, and urged her legs wider. She complied readily, and he slipped two digits into her hot wetness, feeling the pulse of her thickened. She almost convulsed in sensations, and flipped over with his fingers still in her and gripped at the bed sheets.

Her face contorted in an almost torturous pleasurable way, and he moved in deeper, making her whimper. He lowered his head and suckled on one breast, the two feelings twining inside her of her. She moaned louder as he moved his fingers out and in again, nipping at her hardened nipple. She could the knot in her stomach intense and she weakly tried to push his head own. He felt her hand and went down, leaving a hot trail of open-mouthed kisses along the way. He settled between her legs and she instantly wrapped them around his head, holding him prisoner and he gripped them tight. She bucked her hips to him but he licked the inside of her thigh instead, nuzzling her soft skin. He looked up at her and blew on her, making her shiver severely. She gripped his hair and whimpered his name, begging him. He licked her and nibbled on her flesh, feeling her trembled in his hands. Her scent was intoxicating and her taste hurried him, driving his tongue in to her hot core and rolling it against her nub. She called out his name, and wriggled on the bed, a tight hot knot ready to explode. She couldn't help it when his fang grazed her jewel, and she came in a hot flood and he drank her like the elixir of life. She freed him, her legs going numb and she panted for him before he kissed her again. She moaned into his mouth, pulling him to her with her legs, wanting desperately what he can only give. She felt him rub against her and she bucked in response, grinding against his manhood in need.

The pace hasty now, her moaning and whimpering driving him to the edge, he slid into her silkily, loving the way her warmth just wrapped around him. He pulled almost out of her and pumped back in, hearing her purr her delight. She matched him pace for pace, thrusting her hips when he plunged. He didn't want to stop, it was like he could live on only her, and he hissed in pleasure when her hot core tightened around him, her arousal pulsating around him, driving him closer to his peak. The tide turned and he pumped faster, making her cry out in ecstasy as he drove her higher. He came before her, going in and out a few times till she almost screamed his name, her hot fluids draining from her.

She relaxed her tight body, the tension going with her orgasm and she pulled him down for a kiss by the nape of his neck. She clung to him as he pulled from her, like she wanted to make sure he'd stay as promised. His foggy mind mentally snorted. Like that was ever going to happen. Even if he tried, he'd never find anyone like her again. As she snuggled into him, on the brink of sleep, their tired bodies sedated, he felt possessive and held her close, falling to darkness with the warmth of her body pressed closely next to his.
