CHAPTER 50: BROKEN DEAL

Kagome gasped and stared wide eyed at the ceiling. No…what the hell?!?! She stared up at the ceiling, afraid to blink lest the voice was really just in her head. She could feel her insides freeze and turn heavy, yet creating an empty pit no amount of gulping could get rid of. She just didn't get it. What had they done so wrong that they couldn't be rid of her was it just too much to ask for?

"What's the matter Kagome? Not happy to see me?" the taunting nagging voice that Kagome hated so much asked from across the room.

Kagome sat up with a weary sigh, and gave Kikyou a level cold glare, "who would be happy to see you?"

"My hairstylist for one, "Kikyou mocked, letting out a dry humorless laugh at Kagome, making her want to cringe from the rich snob.

There she was, the queen of ice and the devil's spawn. Kikyou's eyes glittered with bitter hate as her grin turned to a feral sneer, and the hells of her black leather boots tapped softly on the tile floor as she approached the handicapped girl. Kagome, subtly she hoped, reached down and wrapped a hand around one of her crutches that were propped next to her. But Kikyou stopped just short of smacking range, and shifted her weight to one foot, crossing her arms and smirking like she already had the upper hand. and though Kagome would hate to admit it, she most likely did. Kagome's cautious brown eyes met Kikyou's near black ones, frozen a glare. Kagome could feel her blood sped up, and one some primal level, felt the threat that Kikyou posed. She didn't know how or why she did, but it clicked in her head to watch out.

Kikyou pursed her lip-glossed lips and scanned her dark over Kagome, as if assessing her threat. By the look that entered her eyes and the smug grin that flitted over her face, Kagome wasn't that dangerous at the moment. Kagome gulped lightly, the bob of her throat bringing her to the realization that she was alone…with Kikyou…with no one around. This just said trouble.

"You know Kagome," Kikyou recited, pretending to consider how to choose her words, " have you ever wondered how your hospital bills were paid off/ I mean, surely your mother couldn't afford something like that."

Kagome narrowed her eyes at the obvious insult, but shook her head slowly, the grip on her crutch tightening. "no Kikyou, I just assumed."

Kikyou's eyes took an icy edge, and she grinned mockingly at Kagome, "really? What, did you think your pathetic boyfriend and his sickeningly arrogant brother did it? No, I'm afraid they didn't, for you see, they were paid by me, from my own account."

Kagome blinked up at her in shock, confusion making its way over self preservation, "what?! What reason would you have to help me?!"

Kikyou sniffed and rolled her eyes, shifting her arms in their crossed position, "not like I did it willingly. You'll just have to ask Sesshomaru about what happened, and how he blackmailed me into wasting my money on you."

"And what reason would he have to blackmail?" Kagome mentally shook herself. Just give her a second, this was getting confusing. One, her hospital bills were paid by her enemy, two Sesshomaru blackmailing people. Why didn't that should nearly as surprising as it should have been?

Kikyou waved a hand and put it back cross-armed, "something about my father, blah blah blah, corporate shit. All I know is that I'm not allowed near you anymore or I lose everything."

"And you're here why…?" Kagome just didn't get what some people did.

"Because, little missy, you're bills seem to be causing some disturbance in my accounts. And since I hate you already and am getting sick of being reminded of you, I've come to take care of the problem," Kikyou proposed cheerfully, but it still scared Kagome. She ground her teeth.

"And how do you propose to do that?"

Kikyou sneered and pulled her hands from her chest, taking something with them, "I'm going to kill you."

Inuyasha sighed as he stalked down the hospital hall. He just had to run into Nigu, the most talkative nurse on the whole staff. `How are you Inuyasha?! How's Kagome? Is therapy going okay for her? How's school? Do you need any help going back?' blah blah blah. Thanks Nigu, for wasting a good part of his time. He had a feeling by now, Kagome was ready to smack him for leaving her with the "freaky therapist". He tossed one of the sodas into the air for fun, making sure to remember which can it was. He didn't need Kagome bitching because he shook her coke.

He sighed happily, and strolled lightly through the white hallways, the distant sounds of the OR or emergency rooms muffled by thick concrete walls. He'd always be uncomfortable here, but in the quieter parts, he could live with it. And best part, Kagome was gonna get her cast off soon. He could only dream of what that could mean…oh crap Kagome was going to pounce him. he sighed again and hung his head. He would give somebody full permission to shot him the head if he ever said he didn't like it, but damn, she could be feisty and then all sorts of crazy shit goes down. Last time she was like that, he needed a new box spring. He didn't even want to think about the look Sesshomaru gave him as the mattress people carried away his abused bow spring.

Inuyasha chuckled lightly on his behalf and turned the corner, ready to toss Kagome her soda. He almost died choking. Shit! That was some fucking nasty ass perfume. His eyes watered at the slightest whiff, and let me tell you, even that was overpowering. He looked up, and through his blurry vision, he made out two figures. He gasped as he heard the voices.
