Imitation: the Sincerest Form of Flattery
She held her hand steady as she pictured the face she was attempting to recreate. She knew that she had to get the stripes just right. It was a matter of pride. She wanted everything to be perfect. Putting down the brush, Kagome took a step back to admire the completion of her months of careful work.
Reaching out, she let her fingers trace over the familiar image before her. The hair that framed the face was straight and white, but it would never have the same unearthly shine of the original. The armour was perfect, right down to the ties, but the boa that wrapped over the shoulder would never be fluffy enough. She had made the decision to keep both arms, remembering how fearsome he had looked then, before she had known him as anything more than another attacking demon. Letting her hand fall, she tried to hide her wistful smile. The eyes were also wrong. They showed too much emotion and the colour would never be right. She had thought about getting contacts, but they had irritated her eyes too much and would only fix one of the problems.
Turning from the mirror, Kagome can face-to-face with the still unimpressed hanyou. He hadn't spoken to her since she had told him who she was going as to Eri's costume party.
“Why?”
It was the question she had been waiting a week for him to ask, unsure of the answer she would give him. But now that she was dressed as the mighty Lord, himself, there was only one response necessary.
“How dare you question this Sesshomaru!”
