Agai n, he found himself in that same unfamilar place where the rain is never ending. His silver hair clung to his face from the heat and moisture. His once flowing clothes now hung limpy around his body. He started to walk like he always does, and found himself once again in the strange garden. The garden was a mystery to him, he never knew how he got there. It was beautiful though, he had to admit. The brillant colors of purple, blue, pink, white and yellow stood out against the grey dreary background that surrounded the garden. They were always blooming, and never once had he spotted a wilting one. He looked up like he always does and spoted the silhouette of a woman that always appeared before him. She never comes close enough for him to tell who she is and anytime he would try to walk up to her she would fade away into the background. Tired of her being a mystery he decided to try again to see who she was. He walked in her direction slowly, pretending not to have interest in her, thinking maybe that would change things. He knew it wouldn't, he had tried before. He saw her turn to him, he could make out a smile but her face held no details as to who she was. It was as if she only wanted to share her smile with him and nothing else. This was more than she had ever shared with him before though, and he felt something inside him begin to warm. The grey skies lightened slightly as her smile grew wider. When he got too close to her, she began to fade away. He broke out into a run, but as always he never catches up with her. The world around him begins to fade, before it fades completely he catches a glimpse of the woman riding off on a white horse.
Sesshoumaru awoke with a start, clutching his chest. For some reason, unlike the nights before, there was a sharp pain in his chest. "What could this mean? Who is that girl who causes me such torment?"
~{I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in pain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand
I dream of fire
These dreams are tied to a horse that will never tire
And in the flames
Her shadows play in the shape of a man's desire}~
It was still way before dawn, Sesshoumaru decided to try again to find out who she is. He laid back down on his bed and shut his eyes. Soon he found himself back in the garden of his dreams. She was there waiting for him, she took a step forward but wouldn't come any closer, as if to tease him. She smiled at him again and lifted her arms into a position that one would have to give a hug. A single ray of light came from the clouded grey sky, shining down on her hair. The black tresses swayed gently in a breeze that only seemed to touch her. He took a small step forward, trying not to scare her off again.
"Who are you? Why do you haunt my dreams?"
She only shook her head and smiled, placing her arms back at her side. She took another step towards him and lifted her arms again. He raised an eyebrow in question, 'what is she doing?' As if she could read is thoughts she hung her head, the light that had seemed to bless her faded. She slowly walked up to him, all her features hidden now, and placed a hand on his cheek. Gently she rubbed his face with her hand. Her scent was surrounding him, making him feel drunk. 'This scent...I...I feel I should know it.' She smiled, placing a finger on his lips, she shook her head. She let her hand fall back to her side, caressing him with it as it fell. She turned, looking back over her shoulder she smiled and held up her hand, her index and middle fingers crossed over each other signifying a silent promise. He saw the white horse trot up to her, and could only stare as she rode off into the nothing.
~{This desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this
And as she turns
This way she moves in the logic of all my dreams
This fire burns
I realize that nothing's as it seems}~
He awoke again to the same pain as last time, sweat clinging to his body. He let out a growl of frustration as he stood to get dressed. He needed to patrol his lands, since this dream had come to him he had slacked off on his duties. Snorting in disgust at himself, he headed out the door. He took the same leisurely pace he always walked. Not really paying attention to what he was doing he begin to daydream of the dream that came to him every night. He smiled remembering the way she felt when she had touched him. Coming back to reality he realized what he had been doing. Quickly putting his emotionless mask back on, he continued to walk on. He had walked over half of his lands when he decided to stop. The question of who she is burning too deeply in his mind for him to concentrate on anything fully. Turning his head upward, he dreamily stared out at the clear blue sky. So unlike the skies in his dreams, those skies were full of sorrow it seemed. He closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of the cool clean air. A breeze played with his hair as it blew past him, whipping the ends up. Something faintly familar tickled his nose, teasing him. His eyes shot open, 'The dream', the breeze picked up and he was swallowed up in a sea of her scent. It seemed to beckon him, pulling away only to crash upon him like a wave when he thought it had gone. The pain in his chest returning everytime the breeze would slip away from him, but eased when it returned.
He took off, full speed, trying not to lose the scent. 'Could she be real? Or have I completely gone insane?' When he reached a hot spring in the forest the breeze stopped abruptly, stopping he looked for the source of the intoxicating scent. Just as he was about to give up the breeze picked back up around him. He looked out to the tree line across from him and saw her.
~{I dream of rain
I lift my gaze to empty skies above
I close my eyes
This rare perfume is the sweet intoxication of her love
I dream of rain
I dream of gardens in the desert sand
I wake in pain
I dream of love as time runs through my hand}~
He watched in disbelief as she stepped completly out into the clearing surrounding the hot spring. Her hair flying wildly in the breeze, which just like in his dream, only seemed to touch her. She seemed to notice someone was watching her, looking up with eyes full of innocence. Before she had time to run or scream he was on her, his hand covering her mouth to keep her quiet.
"It can't be you, you a mere human." He inhaled deeply, taking in her familar scent. To his suprise she was the woman from his dreams. She matched her perfectly from what he had seen, even her black hair. He removed his hand from her mouth and placed his finger over her lips to silence her when she went to speak. Grabbing her hand, he placed it over his chest where his heart is. He felt his heart speed up and a warmth fill him, looking down at her he noticed she was blushing. Smiling, he brought his lips down to hers, caressing them in a gentle kiss. When he pulled away, he noticed her blush had deepened but her eyes remained closed and a smile, the same smile from his dream, had crept across her lips. He broke the silence when he heard someone coming, "Leave my brother and return with me."
The spell Kagome had been under broke when he spoke to her. "I...I...can't." She turned her gaze away from him, sadness filling her eyes.
The pain in his chest returned, he looked away from her. "Then, I Sesshoumaru, will return to you and in time I will convince you to come with me." Without another word, he slipped from her side and was gone.
She touched her lips, still warm from the kiss, 'What just happened? Why did it feel so right?'
"There you are Kagome-chan." Sango said as she entered the clearing.
Kagome looked up and smiled at her friend. "I wanted to take a bath..." She never finished her sentence, she was still too wrapped up in what happened.
He laid his head down on his pillow and closed his eyes. The haunting question was finally answered, much to his suprise, it didn't bother him that the woman from his dreams was human. He wanted to feel the warmth, that warmth only she could give him. He let himself slip off to sleep, dreaming of her again only this time he could see her. The skies were no longer clouded and grey, and she didn't run from him.
~{Sweet desert rose
Each of her veils, a secret promise
This desert flower
No sweet perfume ever tortured me more than this
Sweet desert rose
This memory of Eden haunts us all
This desert flower
This rare perfume, is the sweet intoxication of her love}~
