Chapter One

They met under the stars in the crisp grassy field behind Murk wood. There eyes touched, as they did every night. Her beauty more encompassing than the dark velvety night around them. His spirit more lively than the brightness of the moon above.

Quick steps took them to each other in moments, the distance seemed like miles, instead of mere feet. She threw open her arms and enveloped him in a warm tight embrace. Her mystery man welcomed her with the same veracious emotion.

Why could she never see his face? It was the one question that plagued her when she woke from her nightly meetings. In her dreams, Kagome could touch him, hear him, sense him, but never see him. She woke with the warm afterglow of pleasant romance, but when the content faded all that remained was frustration.

Sighing with greatly exaggerated patience, Kagome tossed back the lush, blue, chenille blankets, shoved aside her matching pillows and slid into her Scooby-Doo slippers. In addition to making her bed, taking a long steamy shower, and feeding her goldfish, Kagome’s morning was fairly dull. She had classes at nine, but always woke up at five, her dreams barely retained flashes by then.

Gathering her laundry, Kagome started from her dorm room down to the student laundry mat, two floors down. Her pile had grown so horrendously large that the overflow was pooling around it. Kencha Ryenoko, Kagome’s current roommate, always complained that the dorm was going to be drowned in her jogging pants. Kencha took psych and law, both classes starting around eight and nine, so she wasn’t around when Kagome left, unable to tell her to clean up, she left numerous post-its all around the room.

Once Kagome had put two loads through the spin cycle and two more sorted into piles of coloreds and whites, she chose to visit the cafeteria, conveniently located in the next building. While snatching an apple, Kagome’s hand collided with someone else’s, who happened to be reaching for a nearby pudding.

Inuyasha, who else? Kagome had met Inuyasha on her first day as a freshman; being a sophomore, he found it quite entertaining to ridicule her to the point of complete embarrassment. His wondrously good looks, stylish clothes, and high marks, were totally eclipsed by his enlarged ego. No one could pull off his self-important look, while making a passing insult on some else.

“Oi, wench, watch it. I’m in the middle of getting breakfast.” Oh how she hated when he called her wench; her face turned red, her ears went pink, and her short five foot five frame just puffed up like a hot air balloon.

“Listen, you. You’re not the only person in Tokyo U who is trying to get in a meal before class, so back off. Jerk.”

“Feh.” Inuyasha simply pushed passed her and snatched up the apple and the pudding.

“Have a nice breakfast, bitch.”

Kagome glared at his retreating form, and snatched up an orange. The line moved forward, and absentmindedly, Kagome handed the cashier her money, dropping the change in an open jar, meant to raise money for a cancer foundation. Inuyasha was the one person who could kill a happy high.

As she peeled the skin off her breakfast, and headed back for her clothes, Kagome bumped into someone. Uttering an apology, she went to push passed them.

“Hey Kags. What’s new?” It was Sango, one of her very best friends and prettiest up and coming women in Tokyo U. Her brown hair held streaks of bronze from being in the sun too often, mostly due to the fact she was a lifeguard. Those kind chocolate eyes shimmered with concern as she saw the unappealing look on her friends face. “What’s wrong? You okay?”

“Fine, just a little Inu trouble.” Sango nodded, then laughed. “What?”

“I can only imagine what this year is going to be like with the two of you snipping at each other.” The taller girl’s head shook, as well as her broad shoulders. “Remember when you super glued his knees to the bottom of his desk? He was humiliated and had to strip down in front of the professors and students just to get out of his seat.”

Kagome remembered that very well, one of her best victories. It was a short lived moment of fame because later that day when she was in the cafeteria, he walked by holding a cake for the campus cheerleaders bake sale, and “accidentally” pushed it down her back, having tripped, as he put it.

“Yeah well. I have to go. Laundry is waiting, and class is in a bit. First day back to campus, I don’t want to be late.” Sango nodded and hugged her goodbye before taking off in the direction of the café.

By the time Kagome had finished folding and putting her laundry away, there was only twenty minutes left until class. She combed her obsidian locks into a high ponytail, applied a touch of make-up, put on her favorite sapphire blue, short-sleeved, v-necked dress, and matching shoes, then pulled on her cross satchel carrying bag before hitting the door.

According to her schedule, Kagome had Business Economics first. Also on her agenda for the day, Kagome had Static’s, and Journalism. Her main goal in college was to learn everything she possibly could, that would help further her career path in creating a newspaper.

Moreover, Kagome had ambitions to be a world famous writer. She had been editor of her high school paper, and president of yearbook. While her family, her mother, Amiyo, and her brother, Souta, supported her in all aspects of her dreams, they were unable to feel the same elation, both wanting her to continue on with the family business of running the shrine.

The building Kagome was searching for came into sight and she hustled to make it on time, ten minutes remained before Professor Soji began lecturing. The only seat left when she entered was up front, right next to…Inuyasha. The pair stared at one another, neither moving, or saying anything.

Kagome received a flash of her dream, the pressure of the atmosphere around the two thickened. A caress of awareness touched her, and when Kagome was about to catch on to something, she wasn’t sure what, Professor Soji appeared. The moments of deeper meaning disintegrated.

“Take your seats. Let us begin.”

A/N: Well, what did you think? Good? Bad? Let me know and please keep reading. Until next time…..Egyptian Kiss!
