A/N: I think I posted and wrote the last chapter early this week, I'm hoping. That means I should be ahead of schedule with this chapter. I try to get at least one out every week for you guys. Chapter 4: Ugly Bear Demon!

Dinner was frighteningly quiet, even the very loud Rin was silent. I think the Lord liked it that way, I hated it, the quiet was slowly driving me insane. I looked across the table to Souta, who was lightly pushing around his food on his plate, he glanced up meeting my gaze, and made a dying face, clutching his free hand to his throat, and stuck his tongue out and crossing his eyes, before dropping the face to smile at me. I glared at him shaking my head and his smile slowly dropped and he boredly looked back down at his food.

I noticed the young human and his rude gesture. It infuriated me a bit, but when I saw this strange human girls response, I let it go. Apparently she was taught some manners. I also noticed her whisper corrects in my wards manners through the meal. `This human is strange, she was said to be outspoken, but mannerly ever since she came here, and I couldn't help but notice her scent earlier in my study, it was sweet, not like most humans and vulgar and putrid, it smelled of red roses and a spring's breeze, but something else also, something so completely only that of that girl's.'

"Rin after dinner, you will have a bath." I said taking in the foul scent of my ward.

"Awww, daddy, do I have to?" She pouted.

Rin pouted liked any other small child told they had to bathe, but she would out grow it when she got older.

"Yes." Her father said stoically. There was a loud bang and the huge doors flew open a panting lavender haired man with green eyes, dressed in a guard's uniform looked to his Lord as Sesshomaru stood to hear the news that was undeniably urgent.

"My Lord... intruder... demon... attacking... front gates... into... servants quarters... tried... couldn't stop... killing..." Sesshomaru nodded understanding the jumbled mess.

"Fushi.." Sesshomaru ordered for the guard's attention. The guard quickly looked into his Lord's eyes standing straighter, but with regret and fear in his eyes, regret that he failed his Lord. "Take my ward's to the safe house and lock them in, then gather the guards and meet me at the servant's quarters." Sesshomaru said gilding quickly out of the room, resting his hand on th hilt of his sword, he stopped at the door and peered over at the now crying Rin whose blurry gaze through her tears met her `father's'. I quickly saw the emotion in the Lord's eyes towards to the little girl flash through the bright golden orbs. I hunched down and lifted the girl from under her arms onto my hip hugging her against me and walked hurriedly to the guard standing next to the Lord in the doorway. He nodded to me once as Souta grabbed the cloth of my obi at my side as the emotion in the great demon lord's eyes long gone as we both parted ways, us three humans following the still frightened guard. I felt as we ran down the now empty halls, Rin's tears soaking through my thin kimono and yakata, as I tugged Souta to keep up with my free hand holding his. It seemed like it was taking us hours to get to this supposed `safe house' it seemed like we were running down the same hallways over and over again.

"Are we almost there?!" I yelled at the guard getting a little agitated. I wasn't as scared as the two children, I had to be strong for them, if I wasn't everything would be ten times worst. I remembered my father taught me to die in honor not fear and to face your fears with a strong determined face, and to never give up. And I wasn't about the start now.

"Um... I think s... so." Was the guard's shaky reply. He then stopped at the crossing of four different halls. Looking in each direction, with a questioning look.

"YOU THINK SO?! YOU DON'T KNOW?!" `We're all going to die! NO! Don't think that Kagome... stay strong...'

"Well's there's never really been a situation I've been in that we had to use the safe room."

"You know where it is though right?"

"Rin does." I heard the little girl's confession into my shoulder and leaned back still balancing her on my hip to look into her eyes.

"You do?" I asked surprised when she nodded her head yes."

"Daddy, let's Rin play there."

"Could you show us where it is?" I asked hope in my eyes. She slowly nodded here head yes. I lightly lowered her feet to the floor and took her hand in my other hand. She started to run as fast as she could pulling me along as I pulled Souta. I yelled over my should to the guard to finish what Lord Sesshomaru told him to do, he nodded once and started running back the way we came. After a few more minutes of jogging after Rin she stopped and walked, but still was hurrying.

"Almost there." She breathed out not even winded, `this girl does have endless energy.' That's when we all stopped almost falling at the tremble and the loud thudding that sound suspiciously like footsteps.

"Kagome? What is that?" Souta asked fear in his voice.

"I don't know, but lets not stay to find out." I said as I grabbed both children's hands again and asked Rin hurriedly which way. She pointed straight ahead and I took off running pulling the kids behind me, not running as fast as I could afraid to trip them and to take more time. But the footsteps just kept getting faster and closer until the marble floor beneath us started to crack. Then there was a cackling, of laughter. I slowly turned around, Rin and Souta doing the same to see a huge ugly, some kind of bear youkai. I pushed Rin and Souta behind me inching towards the wall where the closest door was.

"Naughty, naughty human bitch, you can't get away an neither will those little brats behind you." It slurred out as saliva fell from it's mouth sizzling as the acid in it at away at the marble. "What a fine snack you all would be, but I asked why would the Great Lord of the West that is rumored to hate humans keep three in his estate?"

"W...w...we are servants, we help in the kitchens, in trade for scraps." I hurried to think of an excuse.

"Do not lie to me human, why would servant's dress in such fine silk? You treacherous wench, you all will die for my hunger." He said grabbing for us as I pushed Rin and Souta into the door I tried to inch into a minute ago a few feet away. He swatted me away like a fly, my body hitting the wall across the hall hard and falling to the ground. I quickly ignored the pain and sat up on my knees, taking out the charcoal I had earlier out of my robes and quickly scribbled a pentagon of sorts on the marble floor, then threw the coal away place both my flat palms to the ground and closing my eyes to concentrate.

~~~~Sesshomaru's POV

I quickly made my way to the first floor and to the far wing that was where the servant's quarters were located, the pace was smashed. Floors cracked and splinter, them only being wood in these quarters, walls crushed in, and quite a few body part here and there of stray demons, trying and failing to stop this... beast. I quickly followed the stench of blood and death and the damage up to the floor I just came from through the back way. `Why didn't I smell it there?!' I angered at myself for my ignorance. Picking up my pace as I reached that floor smelling my daughter's fear and the scent of the other two humans. Drawing toukigen (Sorry can't spell worth crap, but if someone emails me how this is spelled I'll correct it and any other I wrote or will write! Thanks!) Feeling it charge with my demonic power. I came to the hall hear a loud thud like a body hitting something, and out of the corner of my eye saw my daughter peering out of a door with that little boy head right above her's. Then turned to what they were staring at with fearful eyes and saw the young woman drawing on the floor and then throwing something away and laying her hands on the floor where she was drawing, and a light white glow about her as her aura came to the surface. `Why didn't I notice she was a miko before? Was she hiding her aura so well I, Lord Sesshomaru, didn't even detect it?!' Then her eyes flew open, glaring at the bear youkai, but her eyes were different, they weren't the normal dark brown they seemed to always be, no now they were a bright ice blue. Then the cracked floors of marble rose, and hit the youkai straight on knocking him back, and the huge marble boulders landed on him followed by many more until nothing was left of the youkai to see, covered and enveloped completely in marble. Then the girl broke eye contact with the boulders and youkai, changing her eyes back to the dark brown. She was sweating beads of it running down her face as she panted heavily leaning against the wall behind her, that she was thrown against earlier. Slumping her head back breathing heavy and closing her eyes as the sweat beads roll down her skin, the white glow still emitting around her. `Beautiful...' I couldn't help thinking. Then I turned to see Rin and the little boy, what was his name... Souta? Running towards the woman and pouncing on her laughing and hugging. She weakly smiled and hugged back as they started to both talk at once about how... `wonderfully neat' that was, and how they could learn to do it. She hugged them both to her, then pushed them back a little looking them over for injuries no doubt with a critical eye, they were clear of injuries except Rin who had a small bruise on her wrist from where she landed when she was pushed out the way.

`She's stunning.' I thought to myself not able to help it. `So beautiful, powerful, and yet, still lovingly motherly, but.... human, damn humans and there weak lives.' He swear realizing just how exhausted the woman looked. She leans back against the wall still holding onto the children by have a hand on each of their backs hanging there almost limply, she slowly closed her eyes not sweating anymore.

"Kagome-chan are you ok?!" Rin asked hurried worried about her new friend.

"Huh.... ? Yes Rin...... just very... tired....." She whispered out, but me with my demonic hearing heard easily enough, I sheathed my sword and started walking towards my wards, over the rubble.

~~~~ Rin's POV

I saw a white figure to my left and turned to see my daddy standing there. "Rin, move away." He said and I pulled Souta back with me, feeling Kagome-chan's hand leave my back as we stepped out of reach. I watched daddy bend down and lift Kagome-chan with both arms, one around her shoulders an one under her knees, making her lean into his chest.

"Mhhmmm..." Kagome-chan talked leaning into daddy further as he looked at her with a plain face. Then he started walking away, and away from the icky monster thing under all the big rocks.

"Rin, come." He said not looking back and I grabbed Souta's hand as we ran after daddy to catch up.

A/N: The end... well for now! Well at the beginning in the A/N it said I was ahead of schedule and I'm not I not usually this slow writing but I'm lazy we just got over Christmas break and just got over the first week back from the break which happened to be FINALS WEEK! AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! And I was majiorly stressed out and I had this thing where I had an A in the class but helped my friend and typed like two papers for her in keyboarding, (you just type stuff out of the book in keyboarding when you are in the last week which we were and then turn it in and he grades if you typed I right! DUMB I KNOW!) And so he considered it cheating so I will prob get an F in the class and have to take it over which is really dumb! Anyway and I've been reading fan fics instead of writing them! And I'm reading this one now its super awesome! Called like "The sweetest sin" And I absolutely love it! I forget who its by though sorry author OH WAIT ITS LIKE SIMPLY LADY I think! You rock! I love it a lot of lemons but I'm like that! It makes things realer and HOTTER! And I like it hot! But its cool too!
