Chapter eleven, Grocery shopping!

Kagome made her way downstairs, to the ER. A small smile graced her lips, but somehow she still felt guilty - her heart was thumping hard behind her rib cage for another man while her fiancee laid in a coma.

What had happened to Kagome Higurashi? The woman who had sworn to marry the man upstairs, the woman who had promised by the age of ten to honor and obey the Yung family for the rest of her life.

She had gained some freedom, and dear Kami did it taste good.

Now it was like her cloudy sky had broken up and finally let the sun shine through.

And for the first time in a long time - she was happy.

Bubbles of excitement tickled her stomach. She would finally be able to work! Live alone! And even maybe get a pet. She had always wanted a cat. However the clouds were still there, and she was still bound to her promise.

But that didn't stop her from smiling.

Now stepping through the door, she was presented with her destination, the emergence section of this hospital - her work space but also where she knew she would locate InuYasha.

Taking a deep breath, Kagome put the note from Mr. Yung in her purse and proceeded into the traffic of people rushing back and forth. In the background she could hear a phone ring and someone screaming, but her mind was set on doing only one thing.

Smoothly she avoided a bed being pushed down the hallway by an ambulance worker, who spoke roughly into a hands free system used for cell phones and walkie talkies.

It was almost like a dream, as she now spotted him leaning heavy against the sterile white wall - a hand running through his silver strands. He appeared exhausted and in need of a shower and real food. Stopping just for a second, she thought about that, maybe she could cook for him? Would that be a good thing or bad? Would he accept?

Somewhere in her mind, Kagome felt a small push and she soon found her self only an arms length away from the man who had kissed her not even thirty minutes ago.

As if sensing her presence he looks up, their eyes locked. He opened his mouth as if wanting to say something when a loud squeal was heard throughout the hallway, a voice that could only belong to one exciting little girl, Sorano.

They both turned around at the same time - staring down the hallway, seeing a very pink dressed little woman run toward em.

"Daddy! Kagome!" She chimed now reaching the couple who had yet to say a word to each other. InuYasha bends down to pick his daughter up. Now laughing.

"What are you doing here?" He requests with a curious voice, peering over her shoulder as if trying to locate someone. Sorano confirms his suspicion by saying a few simple words "Uncle Sess is here too."

And is if on cue a tall white haired man rounds the corner, walking right up to them - Kagome finds herself staring at him he appeared cold and detached but at the same time his eyes spoke a language on their own.

"Sesshoumaru?" InuYasha's voice again curious as he addresses his brother with respect, gaining a strange smile in return.

Sorano now spotting Kagome, squeals again and begs her father to let her go - soon running into Kagome's waiting arms. It was odd but every meeting Kagome had with this little dark headed angel she was rewarded with a huge grin and hug, and it felt nice.

The little girl proceeded by placing a sloppy kiss on Kagome's sore cheek, making her wince just a little but enough for the eight-year-old to notice.

Her golden eyes now round, and full of concern as her mind is clearly plagued by the thought she had hurt her friend, Kagome gives her a reassuring smile saying it is just a small bruise, it would soon go away.

The naive little girl accepts that and brightens up while now turning to face her uncle and father - who stood chatting low with each other.

"Daddy, can we go eat? Can Kagome come?" Her question so innocent and sweet, the three adults smiled at her. InuYasha nodded, turning toward the raven haired woman who he still wanted to ravish and claim as his own.

"Want to come?" His gaze holding a hopeful look - she could not deny him this, as she found herself nodding.

"But," she said, gaining their attention - which made her blush slightly - "would you mind if I cooked?" The man before her smiled brightly eagerly accepting the proposal, "Of course we don't mind, let's go buy some groceries!"

"Yay!" Sorano exclaimed, reaching her hands high above her head, "then I can get some candy!"

InuYasha smirked at his daughter's sly input, but he didn't mind - it was a good night to celebrate, Kagome was cooking!

Letting the little girl go, Kagome now walked up to InuYasha meeting his smile with one of her own. "I need some help," she said blushing - eyes now downcast.

"With?" He seriously hoped she could cook, but hey! Why would she have offered to do it if she didn't know how to? It didn't make any sense. He himself, was horrible in the kitchen. He even burnt water!

"I-I n-need some help finding a place to live," she admitted slowly, as if trying not to trip over the words, which she failed at miserably. InuYasha jerked at her words, what had she just said? But how? Was she free? Could this really be true?

However, the hanyou found himself only staring as she now reached down in her black purse pulling out a vanilla-white card handing it to him shyly.

As he read his eyes grew wider, this was good news of course not the best of news but still good enough for him. And he knew she was happy as he now looked back at her, being rewarded with a smile that actually reached her eyes.

She was so amazingly beautiful like that he felt himself being dragged in like a magnet only to be stopped by his daughters annoyed wail "I am hungy!"

Snapping out of their dazed state, the two took a step back away from each other clearing their throats - trying their best not to look embarrassed.

Kagome takes Sorano's hand as they now walk out to the parking lot, InuYasha clocks out and soon meets them near Sesshoumaru's car, waving him off as he now climbs in after wishing them a pleasant evening.

Soon only the three remain, making their way to InuYasha's ruby-red Land Rover. Kagome helps Sorano strap in securely in the backseat while trying to fight down the nervousness she clearly was feeling, now more then ever.

Taking a few steps she soon slides in next to InuYasha who grinned widely at her from the drivers seat. Sticking the key into the ignition the car soon starts to roar lowly in responds - even the car radio goes on which InuYasha quickly kills with a flick of his wrist.

"So," he says - after putting on a DVD for Sorano so they could talk - "you need an apartment and some furniture?" His eyes on the road, as they headed toward the closest grocery store to his house.

"Yes, I could also use some more hours at the hospital," Kagome admitted - leaning against the leather covered head rest. She was tired but happy, if felt odd sitting there with two individuals she could so easily picture as her own family.

But she knew that was never going too happened, she was engaged to be married to Hojo Yung - and that was just the harsh biting truth whether she liked it or not.

InuYasha's voice broke her thought bubble, "I got some old things you could use, if you want, they might not be pretty or girly but they work."

Kagome smiled sadly, "Thank you, but that still doesn't solve my living situation maybe I can ask Sango if I could crash at hers for a while."

"Keh, woman! This is your first chance at freedom, your not crashing anywhere unless it's under your name and has your name on the door." His gruff but gentle respond sent shivers chasing each other down her spine.

"So what do you suggest?" She now asked as he had clearly something in mind that would assist her.

"I know someone who owes me a favor, he has a place he is renting out. And I believe he just kicked the last attendant out for not paying his rent on time." InuYasha smirked as he clearly recalled an amusing moment - maybe how this debt came to be.

Kagome found herself gazing at him under her lashes, it was no wonder she had kissed him without thinking - he was simply gorgeous.

And clearly had his heart in the right place, beating for more people then his closest family and friends. He was one of a kind and she could never have him.

Reaching the store they now walked inside, Sorano holding each of their hands as she swung in between. InuYasha pushed a shopping cart in front of him with his free one and Kagome proceeded picking out the ingredients for the intended - memorized - recipe.

The only thing the hanyou himself picked out was cereal, milk and a few different kinds of fruit. Reaching the candy isle Sorano looked up with eyes that clearly resembled a small puppy, to Kagome's surprise. Silently begging her father for just a little bag of something.

He chuckles lightly at her, rubbing the black curls on her head before nodding.

Jumping up and down in pure joy, she skips down the isle trying to decide what to get.

"This usually takes awhile," InuYasha says - eyes glued on his little girl who clearly appears like she has trouble picking something out.

"I have a bad habit of being unable to say no to her," he continued - chuckling, "but so does everyone else that knows her."

Kagome snickered with him, "I used to be like that when I was little, I think I drove my mother insane." A small pain in her chest reminded her of times with her dear mama, she missed her dearly - but she continued to smile as Sorano had actually found what she wanted and now ran toward them grinning big.

Not before long Kagome found herself in the cutest little kitchen - it had a nice theme to it all in dark-brown wood and a refrigerator filled with a child's first experienced art work.

It didn't, however, appear to have been used much and the question of Sorano's mother once again came up in her head she roamed through the cabinets in search of a bowl.

The whole house was nice, the exterior red with white ends. A nice garden out in the front yard and some (in the season of winter/spring) naked trees. The inside had actually been even more so amazing giving her a feeling of being in a real home. It held three bedrooms, two small and one large. Every bedroom had a bathroom and was nicely decorated. Of course, Sorano's bright pink and fit for the princess she was and InuYasha's that of a man who just slept in there and nothing else.

The living room was connected to the garage, kitchen and a master bathroom holding a huge garden tub. All in all it was really nice and smelt of lemons and other citrus fruit.

Everywhere could be seen pictures of Sorano and her dad, even a few with his brother and some other friends. But no wedding pictures, or one where a woman that even resembled little Sorano, could be seen. But of course there wouldn't be a picture taken from a wedding, InuYasha didn't seem like the kind of guy who would cheat around on his wife.

That again brought her to the kiss, making even the most private areas tingle. His lips had been so soft, inviting and demanding. If she didn't have Hojo where would this lead? Somewhere only her dream stated mind would dare to travel.

Ever since that first meeting at the party, she had experienced the agonizing way a very erotic dream would leave you. Alone, wet and in need.

Cracking an egg over the bowl, Kagome starts to whip it firmly while listening to Sorano's rambling about this and that as she refused to leave her side. InuYasha had offered to set the table and even make some fruit salad for desert - so they were all there, inside the small homey kitchen.

The hanyou inhaled deeply as he stood not even two feet away from his prey, he wanted her and by the small lingering scent of her arousal she did him as well. It was intoxicating and he had to fight down the urge to take her as Sorano excused herself, running of to change clothes.

Damn he wanted her bad! , Take her against the stove, on the kitchen table even against the wall. He wanted to hear her scream his name in ecstacy as he would pound into her tight body over, and over again.

InuYasha felt his breathing come out heavily, as he now was incredibly aroused by her mere presence. His erection strained against his tight jeans, he had to do something about that, NOW!

Excusing himself, he half ran down the hallway until he reached his bathroom shutting the door behind him. Damn it! That woman was affecting him too much, making him almost lose control. He never lost control.

Ripping down his pants he proceeded taking care of his 'problem' - which he found really easy as her scent was seeping through the cracks of his bathroom door, reawakening the image he had of her in the kitchen and the memory of her soft lips against his.

Pumping furiously up and down he soon came into the waiting towel, growling deep in his throat. Sinking down to the floor panting, he fought to regain his posture. If this happened by just cooking, he couldn't even imagine how he would make it through dinner.
