6: Afterthoughts... Painful thoughts
Kagome woke up the next morning; the sunlight cut off by the blinds. She looked down at her blankets which were wrapped all around her legs. She glanced around her room, not really seeing anything; nothing but thoughts of the previous night filled her mind. Inuyasha and her were kissing intimately; he had removed his shirt and continued kissing her. She wanted him, but something told her it was wrong, he was about to remove her shirt, and she stopped him. She ran out of the room, soft tears slid down her face, all she could say was "I'm sorry,".
Kagome snapped back to reality, the same soft tears rolled down her cheek, as she thought about what she had done. Inuyasha was the only guy she had ever wanted to be with. Even before she had gotten to know him. She would see him in the halls, or outside she would have this feeling compelling her to say 'hi'; but she never did. Kagome always turned away when her feelings scared her. She wished, for once, she had listened to her heart instead of her head.
"Kagome! Are you up yet?" A little boy's voice called through the house to Kagome's room.
"Yeah Souta, I'm up." She spoke with a calm voice but her tears continued.
Kagome got out of bed slowly, while getting dressed she looked at her blotchy complexion in the mirror. She prepared her little brother's breakfast, not eating herself even though her stomach growled in protest, and then took him to school. When she arrived at school she was surprised to see Inuyasha already there.
Inuyasha was talking to Miroku about getting a new sound system for Miroku's car when he spotted Kagome. He didn't know whether to be angry or to not care. She had wanted me right? Did I do something wrong last night? These thoughts fluttered through his head as a flushed Kagome walked as far away from him as possible. He felt his heart droop down to the pits of his stomach. No one ever made him feel the way she did good or bad. One minute she would bring him to heights no drug could take him; but, the way she turned him down last night, brought him to new lows he wanted drugs to take him off.
As Inuyasha's thoughts left him with only one conclusion he realized Kagome was long gone and his friends were trying to snap him out of his daze.
"Hey lets blow off classes today" Inuyasha, more demanded then requested.
"Aight"
"Works for me." His friends all agreed and got into their cars and left the school grounds.
Kagome watched Inuyasha's convertible drive out of the school driveway and she felt her stomach tighten, "Gods I want him," she put her head down on the desk and felt tears gently streaming down her face.
Weeks passed, Inuyasha stopped coming to his tutoring sessions, and all contact with Kagome had ceased. Inuyasha began doing drugs more often then before, including some of the more dangerous ones. He would do anything to forget the pain that being alone caused him. As for Kagome, she just studied harder and continued avoiding him. She waited every Tuesday for him, until six o'clock. She didn't tell Ms. Kaede that he wasn't coming anymore. She just pretended everything was fine, she was good at pretending.
§¤§¤§¤ The weekend
Kagome spent most of her Saturday doing homework and cleaning; anything to distract her further from thinking about Inuyasha. She even considered going to a party to get drunk and forget about everything for a while; but, then she thought a party would be a sure-fire way to see Inuyasha, not avoid him.
"Inuyasha, you wanna give me a ride to the party tonight? I can hook a ride home with someone like last week." Miroku spoke to Inuyasha on the phone. Inuyasha agreed to give him a ride to the party, and home if need be, since Miroku's car was now in the shop getting a new sound system put in. Inuyasha spent much of his Saturday working out. The only thing that ever kept him distracted, aside from drugs, was a good workout. He stopped to eat dinner and went for a swim before getting ready for another party.

"Hey, what are you doing here?" Hojo literally bumped into Kagome on his way home from the supermarket.
"Oh, hey Hojo. I was just out for a walk." she smiled at him, not knowing exactly what to say. Hojo and her had been friends for quite some time but they hadn't spoken very much of late.
"So there is a party tonight, and I know you don't like to partake in such activities but, well, would you maybe, want to, I mean you don't have to, but would you want to go with me?" he looked at the ground and shifted his weight anxiously from one foot to the other.
"Oh, Hojo, that is really sweet, but," but what? You have nothing better to do, look at him. He has had a crush on you for years. Say 'yes', she thought to herself, "Sure why not,"
"Great, see you later. Oh, uh want to meet there, or do you want me to drive you, or," he as still obviously nervous, but Kagome made it easy on him.
"Why don't we meet there at ten thirty."
"All right, bye Kagome." he smiled and sprinted off down the street. Kagome laughed to herself and went home to tell her mother.
§¤§¤ The Party:
"Hey Kagome, you look amazing," Hojo beamed at Kagome, who was wearing her usual 'party' clothes of black.
"Thanks." she offered a casual smile and they walked toward the abandoned warehouse that Kagome had been to once before. The flashbacks made Kagome want to turn around and leave immediately, but she held strong and went into the warehouse with Hojo.
"Hey cutie,"
"Uh, hi, umm, Kii, Kikyou right?"
"Yeah," the girl, Inuyasha had only seen one time before, but had seduced none-the-less, smiled brightly at him. Her green hair was now florescent pink, and she had a few more piercing then before.
"I broke up with my boyfriend." she randomly stated.
"Oh, I am sorry to hear that." came Inuyasha's reply.
"I am not," she smiled and giggled as she pinched Inuyasha's ass. He jumped slightly and gave a half-hearted chuckle.
"You want to go to my place?"
"Maybe later." Inuyasha responded, taking a gulp from a concoction some guy had given him. Her smile faded slightly but she moved about the dance floor, and didn't seem to care.
Inuyasha spent half the night getting stoned and avoiding people, which wasn't an easy task, considering almost every girl wanted to hook up with him, every girl but the one he wanted.
Kagome was dancing with Hojo, slowly drinking out of her cup from time to time. Hojo was a horrible dancer, but it kept her entertained, for a while anyway. She saw the one person she was trying to avoid. Inuyasha stood, surrounded by dozens of people, most of whom were girls. Kagome thought he appeared down right bored. She wanted to explain her feelings, to apologize for everything she had done, even if it wasn't truly her fault. She wanted to be in his embrace, but she resisted. Why do you always deny yourself of what you want? she had asked herself this many times, but never came up with an answer.
Inuyasha looked at her, and their eyes connected. For a split second the music stopped, the people vanished. Inuyasha and Kagome stood alone, together in eternal happiness. The music blared loudly and the crowd shoved Kagome as Inuyasha looked away. The tears sat on the brink of her eyes, but she stopped them from falling, she commanded herself to be strong.
Roughly six drinks later Hojo was putting the moves on Kagome, who was long since three sheets to the wind. Kagome allowed Hojo to try and kiss her and she grinded with him playfully, not intending to lead him on, but to at least have some fun.
"Lord, Sango and I are leaving, feel free to leave with whom ever, when ever." Miroku gave him a wink and Inuyasha smiled turning back to a girl named Benita who was talking about her pet sheep.
Inuyasha glanced around the room and saw Hojo kissing Kagome all around her neck and her collarbone. His anger rose, he wanted to beat the shit out of that kid for even looking at Kagome. Instead, he decided to make her jealous. He found Kikyou, talking to some random guy, and pulled her to the dance area. He began to grind against Kikyou, kissing her neck as he did so. Kagome immediately saw the display and she was disgusted, before she realized Hojo was doing the same to her.
"Hojo, please stop, I'm sorry but I can't do this. Um, I had a fun time, maybe we can hang out sometime. Um, yeah goodbye." she walked away before he could say anything.
