§¤§¤§¤ Tuesday :
Kagome sat on the teachers desk, waiting for Inuyasha. She had gone home and changed into sweatpants and an oversized sweater. She sat 'Indian' style, looking out to the empty classroom.
"Where are you?" Kagome spoke to the door, looking out for Inuyasha.
"Hello Ms. Higarashi." Ms. Kaede stood in the door frame as Kagome felt her face go pale.
"Hello Ms. Kaede," she jumped off the desk and bowed slightly to her teacher.
"Where is Inuyasha?" she asked, looking around the classroom.
"He must be running late. I am sure he will be here." Kagome smiled and glanced at the clock, it was almost four thirty.
"He better show up Ms. Higarashi. I know that you are becoming quite 'chummy' with him and I wouldn't want you to ruin your good reputation to protect his horrible one." Ms. Kaede gave a knowing look and Kagome tried to smile, but her nerves were too great.
The two sat in silence for another half an hour. Kagome felt as though she was going to cry. What will Ms. Kaede do if Inuyasha doesn't show up? She already suspects that he hasn't been coming. Where is he? Kagome's thoughts drifted into darkness as she saw Inuyasha run into the room. Her heart jumped and a smile graced her face.
"Inuyasha, where have you been? Ms. Kaede decided to come to session today." Kagome smiled pleasantly, praying Inuyasha had a really good excuse.
"I was held up. By my father. I have my paper though." he never looked up from the floor as he handed Kagome a folded piece of paper that he pulled from his pocket. The paper reguarded the most recent book he was to have read. Over the weeks when Inuyasha and Kagome hadn't spoken, Kagome had made up tests which she had taken herself as 'proof' Inuyasha was learning the material.
"Now, what does he have to read this week?" Ms. Kaede asked. Kagome hadn't actually prepared a book for this week, she was just going to talk to Inuyasha and maybe he would pick his own.
"I decided that he could pick his own this week. As long as I approved it." Kagome looked at Ms. Kaede, who seemed to agree.
Inuyasha looked indifferent, he stared at the ground, not really seeing. Kagome watched him for a few minutes, he didn't blink, it didn't even look like he was breathing.
"Inuyasha," she snapped her fingers in his ear. He didn't look up but he nodded to acknowledge her. "What book would you like to read this week?"
He didn't respond, he just shrugged. What is wrong with him? Kagome thought.
"Ms. Kaede, I think Inuyasha is feeling sick, maybe we can have our session tomorrow, when he is feeling better." Kagome looked pleadingly at her teacher. She nodded her head in agreement and walked out the door.
"Inuyasha what is wrong with you?" she asked, once Ms. Kaede was well out of ear shot.
"Kagome, don't count on me being at tutoring tomorrow." he looked up, for the first time, Kagome gasped when she saw his face.
"Hun, what happened to you?" she asked, reaching up cautiously to touch his cheek. He ignored her surprise and he kissed her gently. He broke away and with that he turned and walked out the door.
"Inuyasha!" she called out the door after him.
Inuyasha walked to the familiar back alley that him and his friends often hung around in. He saw Miroku there and he walked up to him.
"Inuyasha! What happened to you?" Miroku asked noticing his friends complexion.
"Nothing, it isn't important. Look, take care of Kagome for me. Please. She deserves so much better then any mortal can give her. Please make sure she doesn't date any scum, or settle for less then she deserves." Inuyasha held his hand out to Miroku and he took it, and hugged him quickly.
"Yeah, no problem. But Inuyasha, what are you going to do? What happened? Please talk to me."
"I can't Miroku. It isn't something that can be solved with words. This time, he is gonna regret what he has done to me. I wont take it anymore. He is going down." Inuyasha had a vengeance in his voice, that frightened Miroku as he realized what happened.
"No Inuyasha. Listen, I know that you don't like him, but there has got to be another way. Was it the drugs again?" Miroku asked supportively.
"It is so much more then that. Everything that bastard has ever said and done to me has been building up inside of me, and I can't take it anymore. Miroku, you are my best friend, you have always been there for me. But after tonight I wont be able to live with myself. Please, just take care of Kagome. I know I wont be coming back for her, so please make sure that she finds happiness." Inuyasha walked out of the alley and didn't look back.
Miroku stood there, putting all the pieces together. "Fuck!" he ran through the alley, but Inuyasha was well out of sight, knowing how fast his friend could run, he assumed he was long since in his car and halfway home by now. He noticed Kagome getting into her car.
"Kagome!" he screamed as he ran to her. She stood by her car, waiting for Miroku to catch up to her. She was thinking about Inuyasha, and wondering what had happend to him. "Kagome, it's Inuyasha. We have to go, now." his breath was slightly ragged from running through the alley and down the long hill. Kagome didn't hesitate, she told him to get in and she drove off towards Inuyasha's house. Miroku gave her directions as she sped along the roads. He tried calling Inuyasha from his cell phone, but his home phone was busy and his cell just kept ringing.
They arrived at Inuyasha's house. "What is his code?" Kagome asked looking at the security system.
"Oh shit.. its um, four, six, five, three no that isn't it... Fuck! try um, two, nine, seven. Gods damn it!" Miroku hit the dashboard with his fist. "Fuck," he put his head against the back of the seat, closing his eyes. He opened them, hoping it was all a dream.
Kagome pushed an intercom button allowing her to contact the main house. "Hello! Inuyasha! Naraku! Somebody! It's Kagome and Miroku! Please open the gate! Someone! I don't know what is going on, but, please let me in!" she turned to talk to Miroku. "What exactly is going on up there?"
"I think Inuyasha is going to do something stupid. Fuck." he kept repeating the word over and over again. Kagome couldn't take it anymore, whatever was happening in that house wasn't good. She got out of her car, and Miroku looked after her.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"Climbing the gate. It wont be that hard." Kagome was already half way up the gate when she called back to Miroku. He followed her lead and he too began to climb the gate. Kagome flipped to the other side, and climbed down. She began to walk very quickly up the driveway. She hadn't realized how long it was when she drove up it. She started to jog, Miroku right behind her. She broke out into a run as she saw the house coming closer into her view. She stopped in front of the garage, noticing that Inuyasha's cars were in there. She ran up to the front door and began to knock violently, taking the opportunity to catch her breath.
"What is happening Miroku?" she demanded.
"I can only say hypothetically what I think. All I know is that Inuyasha told me to look after you because he wouldn't be coming back." Miroku breathed heavily, trying to catch his breath.
"Inuyasha!" she wiggled the door handle to make sure it was locked "Please open the door! Where is he?" she looked down at the steps trying to think of something that would help her get inside. She ran around the back of the house and noticed a guest house. She ran up to it and knocked on the door. No one answered.
"That is where the servants live." Miroku said as he looked at the second house.
"Why aren't they answering?" Kagome asked in a heated tone. Miroku didn't have an answer for her. She ran to the back door. "Inuyasha! Please, I don't know what is going on, please open the door!" she felt tears well in her eyes, she twisted the doorknob as she had done on the front door, and on the servants door. Not knowing what was going on made her sad, and angry; if Miroku would tell her what he knew, at least then she would feel as though she had some control. "Fuck it!" she screamed walking away from the door. She grabbed the largest, heaviest item she could find, which was a flower in its flower pot. She picked up the giant pot, it took almost all of her strength. "Miroku, is this serious enough to break down the window to get in?" she asked him. He looked at her and to the window.
"I already told you, I can't be sure, all I know is what he told me, and what I can surmise from that."
"Well what are you surmising?!" Kagome spoke with her teeth clenched.
"I think Inuyasha is going to," he paused and looked at Kagome with sincerity, "I think he is going to kill his father, and then himself." he looked away, but didn't have to wait for her response. The window could be heard shattering.
"If you were wrong, and I broke that window for no reason, I'm blaming you." she glared at him and jumped up into the window. Miroku followed her. The house was silent, and seemed empty.
"I think that set off the alarm." Miroku stated uneasily.
"Good. If it is serious, we will want the police to come. What is it?" she asked noticing the look of concern on Miroku's face.
"Well, it's just that, Inuyasha has drugs in his room. What if they search the house, they will find them, he could go to jail."
"A 'What if' is your biggest concern? You said Inuyasha might kill himself. I think that is a little more important right now! Just help me look around!" she ran out of the dinning room, which had been the room she had broken in to. She ran through the house searching for any sign of life. Please, don't be dead. Please gods.
