"I really owe you so much. I never would have passed my finals if you hadn't helped me." Inuyasha kissed Kagome on the cheek, causing her to blush.
"You do realize that we are in the middle of marching practice." she asked him as they continued to march down the long gym.
"So," he replied, stifling his laughter. He was thrilled that his friends had all passed their finals, and were able to graduate, and so was he. He owed it all to Kagome though. She got reasonable marks on her finals, but all of her efforts went to helping Inuyasha prepare for his.
"You know," Inuyasha leaned down to whisper in Kagome's ear while the principal began talking about how this was one of the most significant moments in the young people's lives, "graduation would rock so much more, if I didn't have to wear a dress."
"It's a robe Hun," Kagome whispered back
"Dress," he yelled in a whisper*. Kagome suppressed her laughter as she was called up to give her speech for being Valedictorian. Inuyasha gave a cat-call and stood up applauding. Kagome shook her head as her cheeks turned all kinds of red. Inuyasha was told to sit down by the principle and Kagome stood up to talk.
"I know this is just a practice, so I haven't written my speech. Two Thousand Four Rocks!" she held a thumbs up sign and walked back to her seat. The graduating seniors seemed to like that speech as they clapped loudly.
"I think you should use that as a speech. Very precise, perfect really." Inuyasha said as she sat down. She gave him a sarcastic look and rolled her eyes dramatically.

"I stand here before you today a student, like you, fed up with four years of nothingness. Being consumed by childish fears that, when we look back we know are going to be petty and stupid. We've been through break ups, parties, finals, twenty hours of marching practice run by Hitler's reincarnation," Kagome sighed heavily as the graduating class let out a small chuckle, agreeing with her. "Just kidding. Anyway, without our friends, our family, teachers, the people who support us most, we wouldn't have survived these past four years. I didn't write this speech until about one o'clock this morning. I have to admit Inuyasha helped me a lot. I just couldn't put in to perspective something meaningful and profound to leave my graduating class with. The true answer is, there is nothing deep and profound to say. No on is going to remember this speech in twenty years, or twenty days for that matter." another small laugh escaped from the audience.
"What I am going to say is, that people think these were the best days of our lives." Kagome shook her head, "But I think, that the best days of are lives, are the days we choose to be. Who says they have to happen at once? Enough boring blabbing, this is our graduation! Class of two thousand and four rocks!" Kagome gave the same thumbs up she had during her practice speech the previous day. Her entire graduating class was standing, her friends had tears in their eyes. Kagome took her seat next to Miki, they happened to be placed together due to their last names being close in the alphabet.
The procession continued, a few more students spoke. The principle talked for another twenty minutes, and finally the distribution of diplomas.
"Higarashi, Kagome," Kagome walked gracefully over to the platform where the superintendent of the school district waited with her well deserved diploma. Kagome smiled and shook hands with the older women. Forcing a 'thank you' when the women congratulated her. Kagome went back to her seat to stand, waiting for the other seventy or so students to get their diploma's.
"Hihitso, Miki," Kagome felt tears in her eyes as her best friend accept the diploma with a wide smile. Kagome asked herself why people cried at graduations, or weddings. Her thoughts drifted as she waited. She saw Miroku, Sango and Shippo get their diploma's and she smiled brightly to them.
"Youkai*, Inuyasha," Inuyasha sighed with relief. He walked casually up to the superintendent and kissed her on the cheek. "You rock." he stated accepting his diploma. Kagome noticed this and tried to stifle her laughter. She didn't however suppress her smile as he marched back over to the 'guys' section. The final diploma was given, to Mr. Mark Zander, and the official graduates stood before their friends, family, and teachers.
"I give you the graduating class of two thousand and four!" with that the entire class threw their caps into the air and jumped up and down, finally having escaped their 'hell' which had imprisoned them for four long years.

"Shut up! He didn't! Bitch!" Sango was yelling at Ivy for something Shippo had done to her, Kagome had no idea what they were talking about but judging by the excited tone Sango was using, it was a good thing. The six of them, Miroku, Sango, Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, and Ivy, sat outside the Grim's Pizza Palace*, talking about nothing in particular.
"I was so freaked out she was going to be like 'just kidding you really didn't graduate'" Inuyasha laughed at this as he spoke to Miroku and Kagome. They chuckled back casually. Kagome had stayed with Inuyasha for the past month, since the 'incident' happened with Inuyasha's father. She didn't even think her mother went to her graduation, but that was okay for her, Kagome didn't feel remorse. Watching Inuyasha's eyes light up as he spoke, the gentle rays of sun bouncing off his hair as he animatedly nodded, or tossed his head back to laugh, somehow it all seemed worth it.
"You up for it?" Inuyasha turned and addressed Kagome, snapping her out of her daze.
"I'm sorry up for what?" she asked, noticing all her friends were standing now.
"Just to a movie, that new slasher flick is out." Kagome smiled at her new friends.
"Sure," she got up and left the pizza parlor.
"Hey hang back a sec," Inuyasha gently held Kagome's arm, causing her to stop in her tracks.
"Yeah Yash?" she asked, turning her attention toward him. He leaned down and kissed her, the action caught Kagome by surprise, but she accept it. "What was that for?" she asked after he pulled away.
"I just wanted to say I love you." Kagome felt herself blushing. They had been 'together' for a month, and Kagome had long since confessed her feelings, but for Inuyasha this was a first.
"ooh," she hugged him excitedly, "I love you too!" she felt as though she was going to cry she was so happy.
Inuyasha laughed slightly, "yeah, yeah just don't get used to it." Kagome pulled away and hit him playfully on the arm. "Wench." he added over his shoulder as he ran to catch up to Miroku.
"Get back here jackass!" Kagome said running after Inuyasha. The boy took refuge behind his best friend, laughing hysterically.
"Oh no you don't, she is your problem." Miroku said moving away and hiding behind Sango.
"Nice best friend you are!" Inuyasha yelled, still laughing. Kagome pounced on Inuyasha, who caught her easily. She placed quick kisses all over his neck as he carried her off into the sunset.
A/n: Told you it was freakin' short! I know this chapter is kind of sucky... please don't hate me or write mean comments, I'll cry. (I really will) SO how many of you want an 'epilogue' type thing? I know wasn't that the dumbest ending! Please tell me you want an epilogue.. even if you don't mean it... Cause I'll probably write one anyway! Hehe, okay... lemme know!!! ^_^
