InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Emotions are for the weak ❯ Extended stay ( Chapter 6 )
[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Summary- Sesshomaru finds himself falling in love. As if having emotion isn't bad enough, the person he's falling for is Kagome. How can he rid himself of this horrid emotion?
Disclaimer- I do not own Inuyasha. If I did, life would be sweet.
“Wake up, miko. We must return to you to your friends.”
Sleepily, Kagome brushed the youkai's hand off her shoulder. Ignoring him, she pulled the covers up over her head and feigned sleep. Deciding to play along, Sesshomaru sat down on the bed and curled an arm around the miko. Even as she faked slumber, she couldn't help but blush. Sesshomaru then leaned close to her ear and whispered softly.
“Kagome, do you wish to awaken or would you rather stay in bed all day? If you choose the latter, I fear I shall have to stay with you and make sure that you don't simply sleep the whole time, if you catch my drift.”
With that, Kagome bolted upright, her face a deep crimson. Yes, the thought of lying beside the youkai all day had intrigued her, but to do anything else involving a bed was a bit much at this point.
“Ah, so you are awake. Well, in that case, you should probably change clothes. I'll wait outside your room until you are decent.”
As he shut the door behind him, Kagome let out a deep sigh. She was so confused right now. She deeply wished to help Sesshomaru, but his love for her was too large to overlook. Regardless, she still had to go back for at least a few minutes to tell her friends she was okay. Standing slowly, she rummaged through her backpack and found a simple jean skirt and pink tank, which she quickly changed into. She then ran a brush through her hair and joined Sesshomaru, waiting patiently outside her door.
It wasn't long before Inuyasha could smell them. “So, my brother decided to keep his promise after all.” The hanyou leapt down from the tree branch he had been perched on as he watched his brother and Kagome descend atop Sesshomaru's cloud.
“As you can see, dear brother, your miko is here and completely unharmed.”
Inuyasha `keh'ed and gave Kagome a quick once over before agreeing.
“Fine. You had your evening now it's time for you to leave and get on with your stupid life. Come on, Kagome.”
But when Inuyasha turned to leave, Kagome stayed put. He glanced back and gave her an odd look.
“I'm not coming with you, Inuyasha. At least, not now.”
“What the hell are you talking about, wench?”
“Inuyasha, Sesshomaru still needs my help and I need more time. All I ask for is one week, seven days, so I can help him. Then we can go back to hunting down the shards, chasing Naraku, and everything else. Just one week, Inuyasha, please?”
At first, the hanyou just stared at her blankly. It was not that he didn't trust Kagome; it was his brother whom he worried about. Sesshomaru may have been acting nice now, but deep down he was still a youkai and as cold-hearted as they come. But, this seemed very important to Kagome and he knew that she was fully capable of protecting herself, should the situation warrant it.
“Fine. But only one week, got it?”
Kagome smiled and nodded. She then looked at Sesshomaru expectantly. The youkai sighed.
“As much as it pains me to say it, I thank you for your understanding, little brother. I will have your miko back after the setting of the seventh sun.”
With that, he and Kagome stepped on the cloud again and began their journey back to his castle. As they set off into the distance, Inuyasha began muttering to himself.
“Something is going on between them, I just know it. Why else would Kagome stay with that damn idiot?”
Once back at the castle, Sesshomaru promptly led Kagome to her room. He then called one of his servants in and whispered something Kagome couldn't quite hear. The servant nodded and left the room, shutting the door behind him. The youkai then turned to Kagome and gave her an almost seductive look.
“I realize that I may have been coming on too strong recently, Kagome, and for that I apologize. However, I do hope that during your stay we shall work on our relationship in more depth.”
Kagome could feel her face turning a deep shade of red, something that was gradually becoming a habit. She smiled slightly and tried to find the right words that were currently jumbled around in her head.
“Well, Sesshomaru, you see, um, I'm actually…well, I sort have feelings for someone else right now and-”
“Say no more, miko. I am well aware of the affections you harbor for that stubborn hanyou brother of mine. However, you must also realize that Inuyasha may not be ready to accept your affection. I, on the other hand, am ready and waiting.”
“Sesshomaru, I'm deeply flattered but I…I'm still not quite sure if my feelings for you are mutual. That's why I wanted this week, to have time to figure out exactly what my feelings are.”
“Understood. I promise I will not force you into doing anything you do not wish to do. However, I have already asked my servant to bring some sake for us to drink. Surely you do not object to a bit of liquid refreshment?”
Kagome had not had sake, nor any alcohol for that matter, since attending her aunt's wedding, but she was getting quite thirsty and sake seemed to be exactly what the doctor ordered.
“Of course not. I'm always up for some sake. But, Sesshomaru, it's still morning. Shouldn't we wait until later this evening?”
“Do not worry. There will be some left for this evening, as well as the next. Besides, I find that sake can sometimes be just the thing to start the day off right.”
Kagome smiled and nodded.
“Ok then. Bring on the sake!”
A/N: Hmm… perhaps it's time for a little drinking and a whole lot of fun. I wonder how well Kagome can hold her alcohol… until next chapter…see ya! -Isha ^_^
