Eternal Waiting

 

 

Daddy said he would come back, he said he would return, he gave me a parting kiss on the forehead and Mommy a forget-me-not look. I could smell her tears on the bitter winter air, and yet no liquid diamond did she show.

 

Every night she would tuck me in and beside me sit. “Be strong.” She said, with a true yet trembling smile, but though she looked me straight in the eyes, those words were directed at her, and every night I would reply.

We tried not to look longingly at windows, waiting Daddy's return, but each time a flash of silver was seen, the word Inu-yasha fell off my mother's very heart, her very soul.
