“SIT!”

 

“Damn it Kagome…”Inuyasha growled from his position in the ground. As soon as the spell wore off, he jumped up and grabbed Kagome by her right arm.

“You can't leave!”

Kagome was sick of hearing this. Every time she needed to go home, Inuyasha would stop her. This was the last time. She opened her mouth and said the first thing that came to her mind.

“Says who? You? A filthy half-breed? Well let me tell you something, mutt. You don't own me! I have a life of my own, and it doesn't involve you constantly being by me.” Kagome spat at him. “I belong in my own time and you should have stayed pinned to a tree, dead to the world! Then I wouldn't be looking for some stupid jewel fragments…speaking of which, I quit being your lousy shard detector! Why don't you go find your un-dead bitch and have her collect them! I'm going home!” she screamed at him.

As Kagome was speaking, Inuyasha's ears flattened back onto his head and made a small whimper. As his grip on her arm waned, Kagome pulled away and took several steps backward, glaring at Inuyasha, waiting for him to do something. He just stood there. His broken gaze stared at the ground. Kagome's eyes widened as her temper died down and she began to realize what she had said. Unable to face what she did, she turned and ran to the well. She didn't even bother to grab her stuff that was in the clearing with Inuyasha. She needed to get out of there.

 

 

Inuyasha just stood there after she left and for once, he didn't have the energy to do anything else but sit and think, and that's just what he did.

`Does she really think that?' his human side pondered.

His demon side answered, `Of course she does. What ever made you think she was different from all of those other filthy ningen?'

`But….but then why would she keep coming back to me'

`Baka. Her human friends are here, and I bet she wants the jewel for herself!'

`She wouldn't do that! She said she didn't want the jewel!'

`Didn't she also say she liked you the way you were….as a hanyou?'

`.....'

With that last thought, sleep overcame Inuyasha.

The next morning Inuyasha walked back to Kaede's hut and was immediately greeted faces full of relief. Shippo bounded over to him and jumped up onto Inuyasha's shoulder.

“Where were you last night? Where is Kagome? Did you do something mean to her?” Shippo questioned. He was surprised, to say the very least, that Inuyasha had not hit him over the head yet. Inuyasha just walked to the corner of the hut and sat down. Shippo hopes off of his shoulder and went to get a bowl of ramen Miroku and Sango had been cooking. Sango stood up and offered Inuyasha a bowl. He refused. At that point Miroku knew something was up and decided to question Inuyasha.

“Daijoubu?Did you fight with Kagome-sama again?”

Inuyasha stayed quiet.

“I assume she has gone back to her time then.”

There was still no answer.

“Inuyasha, look at me when I am talking to you.”

He stayed quiet. Miroku grabbed Inuyasha by the collar of his fire-rat haiori and pulled him to his feet. Deciding there was no other way; Miroku slapped Inuyasha across his cheek.

“H..Houshi-sama…”Sango began, “If he doesn't want to talk about it…he shouldn't have to….”

“He will talk. I wont watch him mope around because Kagome left from something he did. Now tell us, Inuyasha, what did you do this time?”

“…..I was born” Inuyasha finally replied as he looked up.

Miroku and Sango were taken aback by the amount of sadness in his voice and the look of betrayal in his eyes.

“Wh…What!?” They said in unison.
