Kagome sighed as she stared out her open window. She was looking for a flash of silver, anything that would prove that this was all a bad dream. She sighed again, knowing that this was real; that it was her nightmare.
She'd tried to go back to her normal life, going to school everyday, trying to hang out with her friends like old times. It hadn't worked out too well.
Her fake smiles only went so far, and her listless stares would sometimes creep her friends out. They knew why she was upset, but it wasn't like they could really do anything about it. They barely knew the full story anyway.
A knock on her door brought her out of her thoughts. She turned her head to see her little brother standing in the doorway, holding a brown box; probably another gift from Hojo.
She gave him a nod, permitting him entry to her room. He timidly entered and sat down on her bed. He stayed silent for a minute before it was broken.
“What's up Souta?”
She inwardly winced at how broken her voice sounded now. Broken, like she felt inside. Her little brother also frowned slightly, also noting her shattered hope just by her voice.
“Here…I made it for you.”
He handed her the box, awaiting her reaction as she took it and carefully started to open it. He grinned slightly as she picked up the scrapbook inside and opened it.
“S-Souta…”
Kagome smiled sadly as she flipped through the book. Inside were photos, and halfway decent drawings of Sango, Miroku, Shippo, and of course, Inuyasha.
She glanced over to the box she had kept her photos in and noticed it missing for the first time. She figured that Souta had taken the box and selected certain photos to use in his special scrapbook for her. There weren't that many, but the ones that were there were beautifully and lovingly done. There were a few collages, along with pasted in pictures with special borders.
She looked over at her little brother and crushed him in a bear hug. A few tears leaked from her eyes as she smiled again.
“Thank you Souta.”
“It was nothing…just don't be all sad anymore!”
She continued to smile her half smile as she ruffled his hair.
“I'll try…ok?”
The kid smiled and bounded from the room happily.
Kagome opened her newest treasure again and begin to examine each photo and drawing more closely. She smiled as she remembered all the moments in the pictures, running her fingers over each page and drawing.
Each photo gave her a new outlook. Sure, she was upset about the death of her best friend, but he would have wanted her to move on. She still had her other friends to be with, and they were just as upset as she was. She smiled her sad smile as she traced over a picture of Inuyasha scowling for her camera. She remembered that day.
Nothing seemed to be going right for them that weekend, and although she had put a smile on her face despite the bad times, he had scowled for the rest of the day.
“Wish you were here Inuyasha…”
She sighed again and stared at the photos, not aware of the eyes watching her from their perch behind leaves in the tree by her window.

“Morning Kagome”
“Morning Sango”
Sango looked over Kagome with a worried glance. Ever since their friend's disappearance, she had been a total wreck. And don't even get her started when they had pronounced him dead, even though they had yet to find him, or a body.
Seeing that she was in a slightly better mood, she smiled, feeling happier that her friend was getting better.
“Sango? Did you hear me?”
“Hm? Oh I'm sorry Kagome…”
“It's ok. I was just talking about what Souta did for me. He made me the nicest scrapbook full of pictures of you guys to cheer me up. At first I thought it was another gift from Hojo.”
Sango smiled slightly. Hojo was the dense classmate of theirs who was really the only one who couldn't see that Kagome was in love with Inuyasha, other than Inuyasha that was. He never gave up, or got the idea that she said no, and just to leave her alone.
“Sango? Are you ok? You keep zoning out on me…”
“Sorry Kagome…”
Both girls sighed at the same time, but Sango immediately stiffened.
“One second to remove that hand Miroku…”
“Removed Sango. Hello Kagome, you seem a bit happier today. Lovely day isn't it?”
Her palm was itching to make contact with his face, although, with him, that would be happening soon. The third member of their group, Miroku Houshi Kazanna, was a known pervert with a fondness for her behind. She always put him in his place though. She sighed quietly, remembering how Kagome would tease her about her crush on the lecher, and how she would tease her right back about her crush on Inuyasha. Then they'd laugh and say that they would tell them at the same time, and have boyfriends together. Now Kagome didn't have that option, or so it seemed that way.
The bell for first period rang and the trio headed off for class. Miroku looked back, having this feeling that someone was watching them, but seeing nobody, shrugged it off and continued.

Kagome held her things lightly as she made her way across the school campus. It was a large campus, could probably pass as a boarding school. But either way she liked her school, and wouldn't want to change schools. She walked by their usual lunch spot and sighed. Inuyasha would sit up in the tree most of the time, and they'd all sit at the bottom. Sometimes, if it were just him and her, he'd help her up there so that she wouldn't be alone on the ground. And it was always worthwhile to get him to sit on the ground.
She was about to continue on to the guidance office, which was where she had been headed, but two things made her stop. One, was that she heard leaves rustle, and yet there was no wind to make them rustle. Two, she could see a pair of feet hanging down from the branch of the tree. Curiosity peaked, she made her way over to it. She was almost able to see who the person was, when a set of hands grabbed her, holding a cloth with a horrible smelling substance to her nose. Soon, she was out like a light.

Sango stared out the window of her 3rd hour class with a small sigh. Literature had always been boring, especially when they picked books that she had already read. She blinked, seeing someone walking across the yard. When she squinted, she saw that it was Kagome. Her brow furrowed when she saw her head over to their lunch tree, but then she realized that she was probably on her way to see the counselor, and was just pausing to remember some things.
Her attention was returned to the classroom for a moment as the teacher, Mr. Nawa, knocked over his podium as he paced back and forth. He always had been clumsy. She glanced out the window again, and gasped at the sight. There were two men, both wearing black, walking from the tree, one carrying an unconscious Kagome over their shoulder. She raised her hand.
“Yes Miss Taijiya?”
“May I have a pass to the bathroom please?”
There was a sigh, but he trudged over to his desk and made one out, holding it out for her.
“Hurry back, I'm about to go over what our test will be on.”
“Yes sir.”
She was out of the room in a brisk walk, which turned into a run when she got to the hallway. She ran past the bathroom, and thankfully, there was nobody in the halls. She opened the door and took off in the direction that the men had been walking, hoping to find them. She saw them getting into a silver car, a Mitsubishi Montero. She should know, after all, that was her dream car. She looked at the license plate and saw that there was none, go figure.
The car's lights went on and she watched it head out of the parking lot and turn right. She cursed under her breath and ran to the edge of the parking lot, cursing when she saw it was out of sight. There was some more cursing, before inspiration struck again and she sped off towards the principal's office.

He paced back and forth in his new room. This was not what he had expected when Kikyo said she'd have her revenge for dumping her. Stupid girl, she was the reason he was here in the first place! She had been cheating on him anyway; hell he wasn't the only guy she was with in their two month dating time. Turns out she had 5 other guys strung along, buying her stuff, taking her places, and pleasuring her. For once he was glad he never went that far with her, who knows what disease he could have acquired. She really was a selfish bitch. Now he wished he had listened to Kagome and Sango and Miroku. She was a whore, and he got so caught up in the fake things that he couldn't tell what was in front of his face. Man was he pathetic.
He ran a clawed hand through his hair, detangling it partially in the process. He scrunched up his nose as he sniffed the air. It would take a while to get this scent off of him. The only thing that his captors had given him so far were food, water, and the occasional set of old raggedy clothes. And when he'd asked for water to wash his clothes with, they gave it to him, but failed to mention that he wouldn't be getting any more for the rest of the day. He sighed again and surveyed the room, looking out the little window.
He'd tried so hard to break out, but he'd been laughed at. It was after a few days he'd learned that there was a barrier around the room, so he couldn't escape. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a car pull up to the property and for once was glad that his `cell' was at the front of the property. He watched as two of his guards got out, one moving to the back and grabbing something, he couldn't tell what it was though.
His door opened and light entered the room. In the doorway stood one of the few behind his capture, Yura Shinigami.
“What do you want with my life now?”
“Other than your pretty silver hair, to deliver a message.”
He shuddered when she called his hair pretty and glared hard at her.
“Deliver your message…I'm listening.” The ears atop his head twitched as he said this.
“You're to tidy up…you'll be having a guest stay for a while. You sure I can't have your hair?”
He nodded, a bit dazed. A guest? Something told him it was whatever those two guys were bringing in. He barely noticed when Yura moved out of the doorway until he heard a thud and the door slam. He looked down to where he heard the thud and his eyes widened. There lying on the floor was his best friend and long time crush, Kagome.
His eyes widened, and for a minute he thought it was an illusion. But when she grunted and moaned, and picked herself up, he knew it was no illusion.
“My God! Kagome! Are you ok?”
He watched as the girl locked eyes with him, and he noticed tear streaks on her face. He watched as her eyes widened and wondered why.
~*****~
Kagome picked herself up slowly, and hearing her name she looked in the direction she heard it. Her eyes widened as she saw a grungy Inuyasha staring back at her with concerned eyes. Her eyes watered, being as she thought this was just a dream. She blinked once, sitting herself up off the floor fully, standing an arm's length away from him.
“Why am I being tortured like this?”
~*****~
He froze at her statement, then frowned. He must've been missing for a while. It made sense, being as how he didn't really have any track of time.
“Kagome…I'm really here this time. I'm not just some dream of yours, and from what you just said, I'm guessing that you have been imagining me in different places. I was kidnapped, Yura, she's one of the guards. Onigumo had his dad, Naraku, capture me to get Kikyo's favor. Although how long they plan on keeping me here is beyond me.”
He walked the few steps between them and pulled her into a hug, crushing her to him and inhaled her scent.
“I missed you so much Kagome…”
~*****~
Her eyes widened even more after his speech and she started crying. Letting out all the fears that he was dead, or that he was being tortured somewhere. She held onto him tightly.
“I thought….the police had….given up. They said that you're probably dead….Sango and Miroku…. I was so upset!”
She was still crying, and amazed that she had gotten that much out.
“And… and then today…I was headed for the counselor…and I stopped at our lunch tree…and…then I woke up in a car…”
She hiccuped and held him tighter, before pushing herself away and hugging herself.
“They…they…used me…and then I passed out again…and I woke up here….and….and…”
She sank to the floor slowly as her knees gave out, and she fell unconscious into his arms.
~*****~
He growled as he caught her and sniffed. Sure enough, there were other scents on her. Bastards probably did it not just for their own enjoyment, but to upset him as well. Everyone did think that he was blind after all. But he really wasn't when it came to the girl lying in his arms. He sighed and picked her up easily, before heading towards his makeshift bed and sitting down on it, keeping her in his arms.
He knew that she liked him. And it wasn't as if he didn't return her feelings. She deserved someone better, not just some hanyou. He sighed again and traced the outline of her face gently. He noted the bags under her eyes and the seemingly permanent tearstains on her face.
“You shouldn't have worried so much about me…I'm strong enough to take care of myself. You're such a stupid girl sometimes…”
“So I see your guest has arrived.”

Miroku sighed as the bell signaling the end of class rang. He grabbed his things and headed towards his locker, when the teacher stopped him.
“Yes Ms. Aki?”
“I just got a call from the office. You're to head down there immediately.”
He nodded and turned to head towards the office, wondering what was going on. As he got there he was rushed into the principal's office. As he opened the door he saw Sango was fidgeting and the principal sitting there with a grim face.
“What's going on?”
The principal turned his head to him, the grim look still on his face.
“Have a seat Miroku.”
He did as told and dropped his bag on the ground, shoving his books down as well.
“What is going on?”
“Kagome was kidnapped. I saw her from class. I tried to follow them to at least see the car, but they got away. No license plate either.”
“We've called you to the office since you two are her only remaining close friends. The police are sending officers to take statements and talk to you two.”
“Could this have something to do with Inuyasha's disappearance Mr. Morimoto?”
“Only kami knows Miroku…now I need you and Sango to wait here and when the police get here to answer their questions, is that understood?”
There was a combined answer of `yes sir' before the principal left the office to go and greet the officers. Miroku sat there for a moment, a bit stunned, but then smiled slightly. It didn't go unnoticed by Sango however.
“How can you be smiling at a time like this? Our best friend was just kidnapped. I don't know what I'll do if we find out that she's been killed too Miroku!”
“Don't you get it though Sango? Inuyasha disappeared, and Kagome was kidnapped. Why would Kagome be kidnapped? It obviously means that she is being taken to wherever Inuyasha is. Those two love each other. Inuyasha wouldn't just disappear on his own; he had to be kidnapped as well. Whoever took Kagome probably has Inuyasha already, and is doing it to torture them some more. It's a type of sign that Inuyasha is indeed alive.”
He sighed and pulled the now crying Sango to him and hugged her, whispering a few things into her ear as the officers came in to question them.
~*****~
Inuyasha turned and glared at the figure standing in the doorway, teeth barred and a low growl being emitted from his throat.
“What in the hell do you want now Kikyou?”
Her expression darkened and she narrowed her eyes at him.
“I just came to check up on you, and of course, to see how our second guest was doing.”
She smiled sadistically and watching him hug the unconscious girl tighter to him.
“It's a shame she won't be staying with you. She's got her own special room.”
His eyes narrowed at her and he growled.
“If you think you can get her away from me you've got another thing coming. I may have sat back and took all this shit that you've given me for only Kami knows how long, but if you think I'll let you hurt her you're a fucking moron. Oh wait, I forgot you already were one.”
She glared at him with all the hatred she could muster, then turned and stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut behind her.
He couldn't help but sigh in relief when she left, and then turned his attention to the whimpering girl in his arms. He tucked her closer, placing her head in the crook of his neck and let his chin rest on the top of her head as he worked to calm her during a nightmare of some sorts.
~*****~
Footsteps echoed down the narrow hallway that led to the extravagant room that Naraku had given to her. A haughty chuckle escaped her lips if he thought that she could be bribed to go with Onigumo. On the contrary, she would milk it for all that it was worth, and then walk away. After all it was what she, Kikyou Tama did.
