InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Existence ❯ The Prophecy ( Chapter 5 )
A/N: Okay so it's a little different but much better. It fits better with what I had in mind for later on in the story. The shock of the evil person will be numbed with the continuation of the story but I hope to keep you guessing.
Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha… doesn't it suck…
Scene 5
Silence had befallen the group after the girl's first word to them. She was once again unconscious and struggling to remain alive. The group took off shortly thereafter. They sped through Inuyasha's forest, heading towards Kaede's hut. No one dared speak as they contemplated this girl's history. Random thoughts of who she was and where she came from invaded their minds but one thought stood fresh in their minds: What was her connection with Naraku and what had she done to deserve this? It only made them more edgy and they hurried after Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru who led the party through the trees.
Kaede was spotted outside her hut, picking herbs from a nearby garden. Upon seeing the party included Rin, Sesshoumaru and the bleeding girl, Kaede immediately dismissed her questions for a later time. She guided them into her hut ordering Miroku to get some water and put it over a fire to boil. Kagome was told to lay some mats down for the girl. Sesshoumaru was hesitant to put her down but after a stern glance from Kaede he put her down. He stepped back and watched as Kaede took a glance under her garments. Kaede shook her head sadly. The ushered the rest of the party outside. Naturally, Sesshoumaru refused to leave but no arguments sprung to him when he stood back to let them do their jobs. Miroku started the water boiling and gathered some clean rags. Kagome set herself down next to the girl and pulled back the clothing. She spared a glance back at the youkai lord but his gaze indicated nothing and she set back to work. As gently as they could, both Kagome and Miroku started to clean the wounds. Kaede was gathering herbs and crushing different leaves together. Although the girl was deep in sleep, her cries of pain and anguish were distinct and could be heard from outside the hut.
Rin and Shippou played a little distance from the hut, but their play was half-hearted due to knowledge of past events. They had both seen the extent of damage done to the girl and Rin was trying her best not to cry. After all, she had been the first to encounter the demon and she was unharmed because of her. Inuyasha gathered more water for Kaede when asked to and Sango watched the children play along with Kirara.
Inside the hut, Sesshoumaru was now holding the girl down while the others disinfected wounds, repositioned misplaced bones, and bandaged her. She was struggling greatly beneath him and her pained cries grew louder with every attempt to help her. Sesshoumaru was having a hard time controlling his own actions. Everything in his being screamed at him to stop the cause of this girl's pain but he knew that they were only trying to help her. He couldn't understand his actions but mentally told himself that the only reason he was concerned was because she knew something about Naraku. He remained quiet through the whole series of events. Finally, they had the girl bandaged and clean. Her breathing was still irregular and she didn't seem to be in as much pain. They had covered her in one of Kagome's nightgowns… a very skimpy nightgown, mind you. Had it not been for the bruising, Sesshoumaru would have deemed her quite beautiful… perfect, even. She had a great body; full shapely breast, a flat, lightly muscled stomach, well-toned legs and arms, great figure, beautiful face, beautiful, silky hair. She was absolutely… stunning.
Everything about her seemed made just for her. Her curves fitted her flawlessly and her silver hair with its blue and green streaks running through matched her eyes, the only difference being the amber base instead of the silver. Her skin was tanned but fair, making her stand out from most as if she were not native of these lands.
Sesshoumaru found himself lost in this young girl's… woman's beauty and he knew that it was she whom had helped his Rin. Her scent had gone back to normal due to her thorough cleansing and it was utterly luscious. Sakura blossoms and Jasmine filled his nose as he couldn't help but inhale deeply. `I want to make her mine…'
Startled by his unlikely thought, he instantly shrugged it off. But something deeply troubled him. Naraku had marked her. The bite on the juncture of her neck and shoulder was clearly evident but the mark seemed to be the only thing that wasn't healing. Usually the mark would scar immediately, indicating to all others that she was already claimed. It was a warning to other youkai to keep their distance, but it wasn't healing… almost as if she, herself, was refusing to let it become part of her.
Sesshoumaru, no longer needing to keep the girl still, sat back against a wall in the hut, silently watching her as the party outside filed, one by one, into the hut to discuss recent events. From their knowledge, Naraku had disappeared without any trace. So may were after his life but unfortunately he managed to hide himself like the coward he was. Sesshoumaru was one of the many but he continued his search regardless of the disappearance.
For Naraku to appear from hiding, just to "pleasure" himself, was quite disturbing… even if he was the most despised bastard as of late. Not even the cruelest of youkai would lower themselves to such actions. At least not after the event with Inuyasha's…
Sesshoumaru was snapped out of his thoughts by Rin's voice, "That's her… she was the one who grabbed Rin from the bushes and then told Rin to run away… Will she be okay?" Her voice wavered and Kagome took her into her arms, trying desperately to comfort the whimpering girl.
"She'll be alright… but now she must rest to regain her strength…" Kagome wasn't sure if the girl was going to survive or not. It all depended on her will to live… and at the moment, it seemed as if she didn't want to live: her breaths were less forced making it seem as though she were giving up.
A sudden cry from the girl brought back everyone's attention. A bluish aura with a red lining surrounded her frail figure. The blue skies outside warped into black stormy skies as lightening streaked through, briefly illuminating the dark lands. Shippou clung to Kagome's chest and Rin hid behind Sesshoumaru's leg.
"What's going on?" Kagome cried, slightly panicked. It didn't help the situation and the young ones only clung tighter to their adopted parents. A strong gust burst through the tiny hut, throwing off the girl's cover exposing her flesh except for her bandages and the revealing nightgown. Her eyes shot open, a blue light emanating from them. She gasped as her body lifted itself into the air. Her hair billowed around her and her eyes traveled slowly across the room. She moved into a vertical position facing the group, as the bluish aura seemed to swirl round her, the pupils in her eyes no longer visible, only a blue glow emitting.
Slowly, soft words were spoken from her full, crimson lips, "The girl before you has suffered a terrible ordeal… I borrow her form so as to be able to speak converse with all of you," Another voice seemed to echo with the girl's own… a women no doubt, but her tone held wisdom and age despite its young energy, "I am Tsuki, the Supreme Goddess of Fortune… I bring about both good and bad alike… My purpose for exposure to thee is due to the imbalance that has formed within this young one. I only foresee pain and destruction in her future." Streaks of lightening bolted through the skies followed by piercing cracks of thunder. The group stared intently as a womanlike essence engulfed the demoness. This spirit was radiant, her beauty excelling all else despite her transparency.
"Listen well… My time to use this form is brief and my purpose great… I must explain what one of you must do…" She sighed, exhaustion etching her features as a pained cry rang from the hovering girl, a solitary tear running from her eye.
Sesshoumaru practically barked at the Supreme Being, red seeping into his golden eyes. He growled in warning with as much ferocity and rage he could. "Must you cause her pain?" This reaction startled most of the group and they looked slightly shaken under Sesshoumaru's sudden display of emotion.
Tsuki, the Fortune Goddess, sighed once more, "Unfortunately… I must… my power is too deep for her delicate form and I fear my task will be left incomplete… She may not be able to endure my energy for the prophecy's termination…" She sighed again, another tear trickling down the girl's cheek, but this one ran crimson with blood.
"Make haste…" Kaede looked up, her old voice urgent under their time limit. `She may not last long enough… we must know what has to be done… this can't be good…'
The essence before them sighed and slowly continued, "The life, which flows through this young form, is exceptional… Her power exceeds most but she has yet to awaken her hidden potential. An evil will be born into this world if actions are not taken to prevent it. This evil will far exceed your current troubles and this girl is the only one able to stop mass destruction from occurring… This birth must be stopped! No matter what the cost! If it does come about then this world will be destroyed… The powers that be, Time, Fortune, Fate, Light and Dark, are gathering for the final battle… We will unite to attempt to aid thee but we are not allowed to intervene for ye were given the right to choose freely… You must choose wisely… If you were to fail, all life will cease to exist except for this evil… It will continue to grow and eventually cross dimensions overtaking all worlds and eventually… the supreme beings as well… Please, you are the only ones who can change the course of time… It has been foreseen. Will you comply with our request?"
Shock and anxiety hung densely in the hut. No one had ever believed that an evil could far outweigh Naraku, let alone the gods themselves and yet… there could be if things were to remain as they were. Sesshoumaru was first to break the silence, "If we were to fail… are there ways to reverse it?"
A pained cry left the girl as more scarlet tears streaked down her face. Tsuki sighed heavily, her form struggling to remain within the girl.
"There is only one: The product of hatred will show only hatred but once it has been shown love, the decision for change will be its own. Mercy or pure brutality will emanate from this being depending upon the love it has gained. Tainted love will bring brutality… Pure love will bring about mercy… One of thee will be the one to show this girl that life is still worth living… one of you must!" The goddess gasped as the girl started to tremble under her power, "Show her the love that she once had and prove to her that it still does and forever will exist… You already know who you are… Please… You must save this world… and ours as well…" The being slowly dissipated, her last words echoing through the small room.
The girl's limp form plummeted to the floor but she landed softly into Sesshoumaru's arms. The winds dies down and the skies cleared to their usual night sky, the moon shining brilliantly. Everything returned to normal as the girl slept deeply, her crimson tears reflecting in the moon's light as her body relaxed, held within Sesshoumaru's tender embrace…
