A/N: IMPORTANT: I changed the name of the girl in this story. I didn't like it! Her name had changed from Akane to Mei. It is pronounced "my." Just so everybody got that! There is a song in this chapter. If you want, the title and artist are near the end in parentheses.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha… It pains me so to say that…-hears growling in background - Hey! Shut-up, you know you like being stuck in my pants! - Turns back to readers- No one said I couldn't stuff Sesshoumaru down my pants so… Mmmm… Wow he's good at that… … … YOU HENTAI! You know you were all thinking it! But just imagine… I have a dirty mind!

Scene 7

Wings…

White wings, covered in her blood, hovered in the air, surrounding her shuddering form.

"Oh gods…" She whispered brokenly, her voice distant and sorrowful. She could hear the sorrowful tone in her voice and hung her head down, biting back the tears. But trying to stay calm, she carefully stood using her hands for support on the wall. Her vision was blurred but she could make out at least six figures behind the original youkai. He blocked the doorway with his body and although their heads peeked through and around him, no one made any movements to try to get past him. It was a funny slight to watch six people try to fit in a doorway and look around a tall youkai. She couldn't help the twitch that curved up the corners of her mouth.

She wrapped the blanket tighter around herself, suddenly becoming self-conscious. It was cold and the nightgown was soaked with blood. It clung to her like second skin. In other words, in was really only hiding her bare flesh. The… wings had ripped through the back of the gown. Quite unfortunate for whomever it belonged to. It may have been flimsy but it was beautifully stitched.

She mentally chided herself for her ridiculous thoughts. Now was I definitely not the time to worry about such trivial matters. Blood still trickled from the open wounds and she knew that she'd have to clean herself up… if she got the chance to. That emotionless demon still stood in front of the doorway. His eyes still stared at her and she could actually see that they were his most expressive assets. His face came into view in the dim light and she saw his pale skin, his unreadable face, pointed ears, and scarlet marks that streaked across his cheeks. He was breath taking. But that wasn't what made her step toward him. It wasn't his dangerous air, nor his beautiful composure. It was the striking resemblance between him and someone she once knew… someone she had loved… someone she would never and could never forget.

`Makoto… it can't be… No… he's not… he only looks like… him…'

His eyes… his eyes were hypnotic. Their golden depths pulled you in and refused to let go and one could truly lose oneself in his gaze. She had seen them somewhere before. She had seen him somewhere before. His silvery tresses, his silken tail that draped dramatically over his shoulder, and his simple yet elegant white robe he adorned… everything about him was so familiar and yet so His amber eyes were hypnotic to say the least. I knew I had seen them somewhere before. His silvery hair, his fluffy tail and his simple, yet elegant, white robe he adorned… so familiar yet so new. She didn't notice at all that he had been steadily making his way toward her. Her eyes were focused intently on his, and she lost her conscious state within their depths. Who in the seven hells he was, eluded her but at the moment she didn't care.

When she finally realized that he had moved, he stood directly in front of her. Surprisingly, she felt no fear or apprehension. Even more startling was the fact that his nearness only seemed to alleviate some of her anxiety. "I… I know you. I know your eyes… your scent… your hair… but." She trailed off, bringing her hand up. She tenderly ran her fingertips through the silken strands, her eyes still locked with his. His hair was impossibly soft to the touch and she only felt herself falling deeper within his charm and grace. No one had ever had such an effect on her… not even Makoto.

`Wow… he's so just… wow… I wonder if his lips are as soft as they look…' Her body instinctively leaned close, her face tilting closer to his, all the while her mind was screaming at her. `What are you doing? Hello? Do you even remember what has taken place in the past few days? It's all right. I'll give you a few moments to come out of your stupor…'

She hated that voice in her head… namely because it was always right. She blinked… once… twice.

`Ano … I… what am I doing?'

She quickly pulled back and broke the captivating stare. Her fingers left his hair and trailed down her neck. Her fingertips barely touched the mark when a searing pain throbbed from the area, sending a wave of tingles through her whole body. She immediately snapped her hand back, looking down at the offending appendage. It was not a surprise that blood stained her fingertips.

`Well I bled from practically everywhere else… why not there as well?' She thought sarcastically. It was almost too sarcastic for her liking and she quickly cleared her mind. Her back still bled and she realized that she was finding it hard to stay still. She kept swaying slightly, constant waves of dizziness wracking through her.

Just as she thought she was about to keel over, a strong set of arms steadied her. It took a moment for the realization to reach her brain and slowly she looked up. That was a mistake. She found his golden gaze once more and lost herself in them. Subconsciously her wings stretched out behind her and wrapped safely around him, drawing him only closer.

Her mind felt fuzzy. She couldn't really think straight as random thoughts kept popping up. `I feel so safe…' She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her head in his chest. `That smell… it's so intoxicating…'

Surprisingly, she founds words coming from her lips, "Why do you not... protest... my actions?" They were mere whispers. It felt too wrong to break the deafening silence, "I don't even know you… why?"

She wasn't really expecting an answer. Somehow, part of her knew that even he didn't know the answer to that question. Oddly, though, he replied, "I don't know. Come." It was a command. He was emotionless. Just as she thought but she did as he asked… although, he wasn't really asking. His hands slid down her sides and down to her thighs making her shiver. With a swift motion, he had his hands wrapped around her thighs and he was lifting her up. She pulled herself up and wrapped her legs around his waist. His hands slid up and gently cupped her posterior. Even though she knew it was to hold her better, she couldn't stop the thoughts that came to her head.

`Okay… this is a compromising position. Tell my why you don't even know his name and he's touching your ass…'

"What's your name?" She whispered, letting her head rest on his shoulder.

`Okay, like that makes it any better!'

"I am Sesshoumaru, Taiyoukai of the Western Lands." Her body involuntarily tensed at his title. Taiyoukai number one, meet taiyoukai number two.

`Stupid freaking titles!'

"Formalities elude me at the moment. All you need to know about me is my name."

A few silent moments ticked by. He was obviously waiting for her to tell him her name. It wasn't working. Finally he decided to just ask, "Which is?"

She smiled despite his obvious annoyance. She'd been able to get him to ask her at least something. "Mei."

"Mei…" He let her name roll of his tongue like silk. It made her shiver, "Come." He turned and carried her, still cradling her rear, past the people gathered at the entrance of the hut. He walked past without a word and none of them asked questions as he walked into the woods. He continued to walk, holding her tenderly. The safety that overcame her was so relieving that she allowed herself to fully relax in his embrace. He may have noticed because he picked up a bit of speed. Pain jolted through her body and she gave a muffled cry. Her back still protested movement as did her lower regions and his speed only jarred her muscles. Her lower half was still extremely sore from Naraku's exploitation of he body.

He slowed his pace and readjusted his grip on her. It must have been his way of apologizing. She'd be surprised if her ever actually apologized to anyone in his life.

"Thank you… for helping me… but," She was really confused as to why he helped her in the first place. He had no connection with her nor she with him. He didn't know that she was heir to the Southern Lands… rather now she was Lady of the Southern Lands. He'd never seen her when she'd heard about his visits to her castle. She couldn't shake the feeling that they were supposed to meet though… perhaps not in the way they had, but still meet, "Why didn't you leave me to die?"

The sound of running water made itself known to her ears, notifying her that he had taken them somewhere she could bathe. It was most likely a shallow lake or hot spring. Regardless, he stopped and held her. His hot breathe cascaded across her ear and she subconsciously flattened them against her head. She shivered again. Her ears were one of her erogenous zones, "You know something that you're not telling me. Why didn't you let me die?" Something was wrong. She blinked back tears from her eyes. Something was definitely wrong and she somehow already knew what he was holding back from her. She just needed to hear it from him.

A light rain began to fall just as his whisper reached her ears, "You are with child."

Tell me what the rain knows

Or are these the tears of Ages

That wash away the Wolf's Way

And leave not a trace of the day…

His words hit her like a ton of bricks. She bit her lip to keep from crying right there, "What?"

He didn't respond. He didn't even move. He knew that she heard him. He knew that she was desperately trying to hold back a flood of emotions. This is particularly why he had kept his hidden for so long. Unfortunately, this girl was not helping. He really just wanted to kill Naraku right now for harming her as he did.

She gripped his shoulders, her nails digging into his skin. She was upset. "No… no, no, no! You must be mistaken. I can't be… with his… his… No… NO!" She pushed herself out of his embrace; her eyes blurred with unshed tears and anger. "You lie!" She spat, anger and menace clearly laced in her words. He only stared back at her. Only his eyes expressing what he felt for her.

"I do not want your pity!" She cried out, anger, despair and pleading in her voice, "I want you to tell me that it's not true… please, " Her tears fell slowly from her lashes and she sank to her knees, " Tell me it's not true…"

Tell me what the rain knows

Or is this the flood of Fortune

That pours itself upon me?

O, see how I drown in this sea…

He stepped forward but she quickly stood and stepped back, "No! Don't come near me! Just… leave me alone! Why! Why didn't you just let me die?" She turned her back to him, her wings stretching out, and drops of blood falling from the silken feathers. She walked toward the small stream that fed into a shallow lake, her tail dragging lazily behind her. The blanket, which she had clung to like a lifeline, fell effortlessly and pooled around her feet. She tore the nightgown off her body and stepped into the cool water. She waded further in until she was waist deep in its shallow depths. A slight splash from behind made its way to her ears but she didn't care. Her arms crossed over her chest just as a strong set of arms rested lightly on her waist.

His hands gently scrubbing the blood from her wings and back. His touches sent tingles through her body and she occasionally shivered but her mind was elsewhere. `It can't be… not with that vile creature's child… never…'

Hark; hear the howl that eats the moon alive

Your fur, it is on fire

The smoke turns the whole sky raven black

And the world upon your back will crack…

He continued to gently wash the blood from her form. She turned around to face him. Tears fell silently into the water and she finally released it all, from when she had been to viciously taken to her current state. She cried. She cried and cried and cried, her body collapsing into Sesshoumaru's arms once more as her sorrowed cries continued through the dark forest…

Where will you go?

Now, you've no home

Let the rain wash away… your last days… (Tell Me What The Rain Knows- Yoko Kanno)

Elsewhere In The Forest…

Emerald eyes stared at the two demons in the water: one crying and the other caressing.

`Mei… if you only knew the truth about your being… Who your grandfather really was and who you are today… Soon… the time draws near for the truth to be told… Your existence in this world has more significance than you truly comprehend… soon… my sister…'

Quietly backing from the bushes where she had hidden, she ran quickly from the pair. Once a safe distance away, with a small yelp, a set of black wings with silver tipped ends tore from her back and she took off into the night sky…
