InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Expect the Unexpected: An Important Life Lesson ❯ Familiarity ( Chapter 2 )

[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]

Sorry it took so long for Chapter 2 to get up. Anyway I don't own Inuyasha and I didn't in Chapter 1. Anyway here it is so enjoy!

Brianna slowly opened her eyes, wincing at the bright sunlight shining into the well. Owww, I must have hit my head on the side or something. But wasn't there a building over the well? If so, then why am I seeing sunlight? She sat up slowly and rubbed the bump on the back of her head

“Well, there's only one way to find out what's going on,” she told herself firmly. She looked around for a way to get out of the well, and noticed that there seemed to be vines growing up the inside of it. She wrapped her hand around one to her left, and tugged hard.

“It seems sturdy enough,” she commented, and began to ascend the wall. She was used to climbing and was very strong, so it was no challenge for her and she was at the ledge of the well in no time at all. She looked around, searching for some clue as to her location. All around her was a beautiful forest with tall, proud trees and the grass and shrubbery was almost unnaturally green. This was, by far, the most beautiful place she had seen in quite some time. But she wasn't getting anywhere just by admiring the scenery. She pulled herself out of the well and brushed the dust off her clothes. No matter what the situation she hated being dirty.

“Maybe I could get back the way I came?” she pondered. She readied herself at the edge of the well and jumped in again…only to land in a painful heap at the bottom. “Damn I knew that wouldn't work. Oh well.” She quickly climbed back up again, and looked around, hoping no one noticed her mistake.

“It's so quiet. I wonder if there is a city nearby where I can find out where I am, because I'm obviously not where I should be.” She began walking in a random direction. The forest was thick but it didn't fully block the sunlight. She looked closer at the ground and realized that she was not the first to walk this path. Hmmm…so there ARE people around here. I hope I can get directions, and maybe something to eat and drink, I'm STARVING. After about 10 minutes of walking she came to a clearing, and she gasped when she realized she was at the edge of a town. But…where are all the tall buildings? This town looks so primitive. Well hopefully the people are friendly. She straightened her shoulders and walked determinedly toward the village.

“Hey, Kagome! When's the ramen gonna be done, huh? I don't have all day, you know!” an annoyed hanyou grumbled loudly.

“Just wait a few more minutes, Inuyasha. It's almost done. You know, you really could stand to learn some patience,” the girl calmly stated as she stirred a pot of boiling noodles. It was just another boring day in the Feudal Era for them. The sun was shining, villagers were working in the fields, and there were no demons in sight. Well, except for the obvious hanyou and kitsune that accompanied the group. Shippo was next to Kagome scribbling on white sheets of paper with crayons. Sango was polishing her Hiraikotsu and Miroku was leaning against the wall watching her. Or rather her luscious behind (but in his opinion she didn't need to know that). Suddenly, Inuyasha perked up, sniffing the air in a frenzy.

“Hey, there's someone unfamiliar here! Stay inside and I'll take care of this pest!” he exclaimed, and ran out of the hut to protect his friends if the need arose. Curiosity got the best of them, though, and they quickly followed him outside to stop him if the “pest” was of any threat to them. They ran to the edge of the village, and sure enough he was shouting expletives at a woman looking to be about Sango's age, maybe a little older.

“Who the hell are you and what do you want?!” the hanyou shouted, annoyed that he wouldn't get to fight today.

“Inuyasha, sit boy!” Kagome said, exasperated and Inuyasha plummeted to the hard ground. She walked up to the woman, who was fidgeting nervously after being yelled at for just being there (haha sound familiar Bri?) and bowed to her. “I'm sorry for Inuyasha, he's just a pain in the butt. He's grumpy because he hasn't gotten into any fights so far today. I'm Kagome, and the demon slayer is Sango, the monk is Miroku, and the little fox is Shippo.”

“Oh, its no problem! I was intruding on your village, so he did kind of have a right to yell at me,” she laughed. “By the way, I'm Brianna, and it's very nice to meet all of you. I really didn't mean to cause any problems, but I seem to be lost. See….I came to Japan to do some sightseeing and ended up falling down a well…and this probably sounds really strange to you but when I fell it seems I went somewhere else than where I am supposed to be.”

“You're from my time?” Kagome asked, surprised. She should have known, judging from Brianna's clothing, but it still wasn't Japanese clothing so it was unfamiliar to her.

“Will you two quit yakking already? Geez like its not boring enough around here as it is without to females chattering away like a couple of squirrels.” Inuyasha got up from his position on the ground frowning and crossed his arms. Brianna finally got a good look at him, and gasped. Silver hair! And amber eyes! Where had she seen that before?
