InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Fallen Samurai ❯ Chapter 15 ( Chapter 15 )
"Miroku? Miroku, are you all right?"
Miroku's head snapped up his head and looked at Kagome blankly. "Huh? W-what?"
"You've barely picked at your food. Are you feeling okay?"
"I'll finish his ramen!" Inuyasha exclaimed.
"It's nice to know your stomach still works," Shippou said.
"What was that?"
"Oh nothing!" exclaimed the young kitsune, hiding behind Kagome.
"I'm all right," said Miroku. "I'm just not hungry."
"Miroku you haven't been eating well lately, and if you don't cut it out you're gonna get sick!" Kagome placed a hand on his and looked at him, eyes filled with concern. "You're making me worry!"
"I-I'm sory. I'll eat later...so.. I'm just going to see how Kirara is doing."
He rose and walked over to the make-shift shelter they had built for Kirara. She lay still, under her blankets, breathing short and slow. He picked her up and held the neko close to his bosom and silently cried. It was as if Kirara was his lifeline and it had started to slip away from him. His tears continued to fall, feeling more helpless than he thought possible. Kirara felt the tears on her head, and she blinked her eyes open.
"Don't cry," she whispered.
"Ki...Kirara..."
"Don't worry about her. She'll be fine. She loves you, remember? And you love her, so that's all you need to know."
"How are you feeling?"
Kirara started to answer but then started wheezing. "I...I!"
"Kirara!?"
"Listen to me! Listen close!" she wheezed in between breathes but she continued to talk to him. "You must save her from herself!"
"Yes, yes you said that before!" Miroku said anxiously. "But what does that mean?!"
"There is a truth...that even she does not know of...she is more..." She stated each fragmented sentence between wheezing and coughing. Miroku knew she shouldn't talk, but he had to know what it was she was trying to say to him.
"She's more what? What truth?"
"The darkness...born within...hidden in the soul..."
"Kirara! You're not making any sense!"
"S-Sesshoumaru suspects!" Her wheezing became worse, and she started to convulse violently.
"Kirara! Kirara! Kagome come quick!"
"What is it?" she asked, quickly coming up to him. Once she took sight of Kirara she gasped, "Oh my God! Go Miroku, I'll take care of her." She took the neko within her arms.
"But Kagome-"
"GO!"
Miroku walked back to where Inuyasha was, sitting cross-legged by the fire. He looked up at the monk's saddened and troubled expression.
"She's getting worse," Miroku said grimly.
"Too much miasma," came Inuyasha's reply.
"Inuyasha, we must hurry to the castle."
"I know, you've only been saying that the last three weeks!"
"I know, but this time it's something more. Kirara said something about saving Sango from herself."
"Save her from herself?" he repeated. "That makes no sense at all."
Miroku nodded, "Yes, also about some unknown truth about Sango...that she is more. Also about a born darkness within the soul."
Inuyasha rolled his eyes, "Ya know, this whole riddle thing really pisses me off! Why couldn't she speak normal like she always does!"
"Actually, she hardly speaks at all."
"You know what I meant. Well, we can't move any faster than we are already."
"But Inuyasha-!"
"Miroku listen to yourself!" he snapped. "You're letting your feelings cloud your judgement! Do you want to give us away to Sesshoumaru and/or Naraku? Storming the castle is irrational! Do you even have a plan? The extra time we have will serve to formulate one. Remember, you're not the only person who wants to save Sango. We all do!"
He knew Inuyasha was right, but that still didn't settle the burn that he felt and all the questions that were left unanswered. Was Sango more of a threat to herself than Sesshoumaru was? How could that be? Was he manipulating her? Did he torture her? Why did he want her in the first place? And what did Kirara mean that Sesshoumaru susspects? Miroku went into a restless sleep with these questions in mind.
********************
An angry growl and the sound of books and scrolls clashed on the floor of the library. Lord Sesshoumaru sat there in his lavishly furnished chair with his fingers massaging his temples. He couldn't concentrate! His mind seemed to always trace back to Sango. He couldn't figure her out, what secret she held. Her countenence was set high, with no fear in what he could do to her if he so wished.
If he so wished? Does that mean that he had no intention to cause her harm or suffering? What the hell was wrong with him? Was that not the origional plan? He had to admit, it was true. His first intentions were to weaken her, then make her fear him before killing her. That was to serve as punishment for the retaliation and defiance that she showed towards him. However, things had changed. Perhaps HE had changed. Was it possilbe? Was he actually becoming drawn to this human girl? Rin was different, he was her guardian. But Sango...she proved to be more than what she seemed.
Her eyes, those beautiful brown orbs that one moment could look far and distant, and the next moment flash with anger like the turbulant sea or a raging fire. Those very same eyes could also be hazed and clouded, searching, desperate...and nostalgic. Her motions, her body, her spirit, all held a sense of superiority. At times he found himself purposely making her angry or blush just to see her reactions. It was in some way amusing to him, but he knew this type of thinking could lead to something dangerous. Was he actually admitting that he was feeling aroused by her? No, that couldn't be! He was a youkai and she a human. But again...her scent. He noticed that when angered enough, her scent changed. But it was so faint and so brief only a fully experienced youkai could catch it. Yet another mystery.
She didn't trust him, and that was something that had to be changed. He had to help her realize that her companions were the ones that were a threat to her. He glanced at one of the scrolls that had fallen open and got an idea. This spell could be dangerous, but it would help the both of them know the truth behind her past. And if all went well, he could be rid of Naraku since she strongly claimed he killed her family. He would prepare at once.
********************
Sango was in her room with Rin the whole evening. The two had been inseparable since the day they met. Sango was greatful that she had someone's company other than demons. Rin had jumped on the bed, landing on her belly, giggling and snuggling on Sango's pillows.
"Rin, can I ask you something?"
"Sure Sango-chan!"
"Remember what you said about Sesshoumaru rescuing me? I don't understand it."
"He said that he did it cuz your were special. I agree. You're so nice and pretty, and you keep Jaken from picking on me. Yeah, I bet he likes you."
Sango immediately took the defense and said shocked, "Wait a minute! What did you say?!"
"That Sesshoumaru-sama likes you. He said you were special, that must be it!" She then yawned and cuddled on the pillow. "Finally, a new family."
"Rin, I don't think that's what-"
She was interrupted by a knock at the door and Sesshoumaru walked in. Sango refused to look at him, but could still feel him looking at her as if he were boring a hole into her. Rin jumped up and happily hugged him.
"Time for bed, Rin," he said.
"Oh! But I'm not," she yawned, "sleepy..."
"Come now," he said picking her up. "Anything you require Sango?"
Sango, still turned away said, "No, I'm fine."
"Goodnight Sango-chan!"
"Goodnight Rin."
Sesshoumaru left the room and carried Rin down the hall to her room. She was already half asleep when he tucked her in bed.
"I like Sango-chan," she said sleepily.
"That's good," he said.
"Is Sango-chan going to be my new Mama?"
Sesshoumaru looked at her disbelievingly. "I...I don't know."
"Do you want her to?"
"...I don't know..."
"I hope so. Then I'll have a Mama and Papa again."
Sesshoumaru left Rin to her dreams and left to find Naraku outside the door.
"We still have tasks at hand, Lord Sesshoumaru."
"I am aware of them and they are being worked on. Have patience. We'll get what we both want."
"And I suppose you want to give that wench a good fuck then hnn?"
Sesshoumaru glared at him with red eyes and said in a warning growl, "Naraku...stop this."
"Forgive me. That wasn't my place. I'm sure that whatever plan you've developed will work out fine." He smiled mockingly and left, twiddling an empty vile bottle between his fingers.
********************
Sango stood on the balcony in her night robe, combing her hair with her fingers. It was a clear night, the air cool, vanquishing the heat of day. The stars shown bright and danced across the crescent moon that smiled down at her. The crickets chirpped noisily, and a lone owl hooted, as if snapping at them to hush. Despite the calm of night, Sango couldn't help but relate to the loone's cry.
She felt that wave of saddness wash over her like the sea erodes the shore. And yet, she felt like the sand being washed away. She was beginning to forget things like the sounds of her friend's voices. Were they even coming for her? This place, this dammed place was causing her to forget. She tried, many times to escape, but her attempts failed. Her weapons and armor had been taken away, and she was always on strict watch.
"Where are you Kagome, Kirara, Miroku, Inuyasha, and Shippou?" she whispered into the wind. "Will you come for me? I miss you all terribly. But...I'm trapped...trapped in this prison."
Sango wrapped herself in the wind, closing her eyes. She tried to go back to that night, where she and Miroku shared their first kiss. Gods was there anything else in the world that felt so good! His hands, his mouth, everything ached to feel his touch on her body again! She shuddered in pleasure at the thought. That's when she heard a rustle behind her. She turned around and stood there stunned. Was...was this real? It was! Miroku stood but a few feet away from her!
"You...you're here," she said wide-eyed.
"Why wouldn't I be?" he asked.
Tears formed in her eyes as she exclaimed, "You're here!"
She closed the gap between them and kissed him. She clung to him, trying to be closer and wondered why he didn't respond. She forced his mouth open to taste him, to completely get drunk from his kiss. He then grabbed her, massaging her body and she moaned, feeling hot. While running her tounge over his teeth she felt something sharp prick her. Was Miroku's teeth that sharp? She then broke away and gazed into the eyes of a baffled Sesshoumaru.
"YOU?!" she shrieked.
"I believe you have me confused with someone else, Sango," he said calmly.
Sango broke from his hold, covering herself with her robe. "You bastard! You filthy damned bastard!" She stormed into her room, completely steemed from anger as well as arousal.
"You're the one to talk!" he snapped, slamming the doors with his tail. "You were the one to kiss me!"
"And you didn't even stop me!"
"And you would have given me the chance?"
"Better than making a complete fool of myself!"
"You haven't been sleeping. That is what's causing you to have illusions."
"Oh what the hell would you know!" she snapped, throwing her hands in the air exasperatedly.
"That you were thinking of that monk. How you would react when you saw him, and believe me, I felt it all from that kiss."
"Maybe," she said turning to face him with a defiant smirk, "but you don't kiss as good as Miroku does. You NEVER could."
Sesshoumaru growled and stalked towards her, forcing her backwards so her back was against the wall. The growl could be heard deep in his chest as his face came inches away from her own. "Is that a challenge?!" he snapped.
Sango held her head high in defiance and smirked. "You wish."
"Be careful what you wish for..."
"Or what," came her snappy reply.
A smirk graced his lips as he beant down and suckled the pulse at her neck. Sango gasped in suprise at the sudden sensations she felt pushing and pulling her senses in different directions. What was he doing to her? This was nothing like she ever felt! Sesshoumaru grinned against her neck, smelling her arousal grow as he nipped, bit, and sucked, running his tounge lightly over the area he had assulted. Sango felt so weak in the knees she found herself clutching his shoulders for support.
He then grazed his lips over her jaw and stopped just a milimeter away from her own. She could feel his hot breath agaisnt her lips and she looked at him through half-lidded eyes. He gently brushed his lips against her own like a paintbrush on canvas. No, like a slight breeze against her face. Dammit what was he doing to her? He was torturing her this way! Sesshoumaru had planned it this way. If she wanted him, she would have to make the final move since he had already set up the stage. And when he started to pull away she reached for him, taking his mouth in suddenly and sharply.
Sango was lost. There was no turning back. She was lost in the kiss and the hands of a God. She felt him open her robe and slip his hands around her waist, then slowly run up her body, tantilizing one of her breasts. He had her pressed up against the wall, his groin hard and pushed against her. He started to grind and pump against her hips and he groaned when he felt her writhe beneath him. Deciding this was enough before it got too out of hand and lost himself completely, he pulled away. Eyes filled with lust gazed at eachother, and Sango could swear she heard him purring deep within his chest.
"I believe I've outdone him, by your reaction, princess," he said huskily.
"Se...Sesshoumaru," she murmured, her eyes still glazed over with lust. However within an instant she collected her bearings and here eyes flashed with anger. "GET OUT!!!"
Sesshoumaru smiled devilishly and took his leave. Sango wrapped her robe around her and shuddered. She angrily punched the nearest wall, causing the room to shake. She walked to her bed, and buried her face within her pillows stifiling her cries and tears of frustration and anger.
