InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Falling For Her ❯ Chapter One ( Chapter 1 )

[ X - Adult: No readers under 18. Contains Graphic Adult Themes/Extreme violence. ]

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha or any of the supporting characters.

Description: Kagome is a first year University student who develops some new and confusing feelings for a girl she just met. Her best friend Inuyasha, along with her cousin Kikyo and some new friends at University are helping her understand these new and unavoidable thoughts swimming around in her mind.

A/N: This is a College AU fic! So, this story is Kag/San pairing. Inu/Kik (side pairing) The only way I could even get myself to be okay with it having nothing to do with Inuyasha and Kagome having feelings or attraction for each other is I made Kagome lesbian. I was originally going to make her bisexual with a past of a boyfriend but decided against it because I didn't want her to even have a chance to be attracted to Inuyasha at all, and even I would get jealous from just thinking about her not being with him haha. There are some other smaller side pairings going on also but not as important. Just warning for those who are not okay with F/F or Inu/Kik!

Warning: This fiction contains adult content including: sex/sexual situations (between consenting adults), underage drinking/partying, and language. F/F, M/M, F/M (only explicit between F/F. Other pairings are mainly just mentioned).

A/N: Please leave a review to let me know if you like this! This is my first attempt at a long form AU. (Not quite sure how long yet, it could be three chapters, it could be ten). This is also my first attempt at it not being Inu/Kag. And my first real attempt at LGBTQ! I am bisexual with experience with both genders just to put that out there. (I've 100% Known my sexuality since I was 13 and had a crush on my best friend who I found out the following year in 7th grade that she was also bisexual. She ended up being my first girlfriend)

Also, I don't really have a schedule for when I'm posting chapters because I'm just writing this as I think of what to do next. So please be patient and I hope you enjoy! I definitely will NOT abandon this fic!

Now that the really long A/N is out of the way. Please, enjoy the start of my most recent creation!

Falling For Her

Chapter 1

"Are you sure you have everything packed, dear?"

"Yes mama! I'm definitely ready! Come on, let's go!"

"Gosh, sis. You are too excited to go to school."

Kagome rolled her eyes as she got into the backseat with her younger brother. "It's not just school, Souta! I'm finally going to University! I'm so excited!"

"I don't know why. I hate getting up to get to school in the morning."

Mrs. Higurashi finished packing the trunk of the van and made her way into the drivers seat next to gramps, who is pouting in the passanger seat.

"My grandchildren will be successful in what they do! That means, you will go to school and graduate and then you will be going to university, boy!"

"Yes, gramps." Souta crossed his arms and leaned back into his seat, annoyed.

Gramps nodded his head in the affirmative and spoke directly to Kagome. "Do you have your schedule for classes yet, Kagome?"

"Not yet, gramps. But after I get settled into my new dorm room, I'll go to the administrative office and do that." Kagome squealed. "I'm so excited!"

Souta covered his ears as Mrs. Higurashi started to drive down the road. "Gosh, sis! So loud!"

Kagome playfully punched her fifteen year old brothers' arm before putting her headphones on and dancing to her favorite music on the way to University for the first time.

~•~

"Kagome dear, we're here."

Kagome slowly lifted her head off of the car window and her eyes shot open when she realized they were finally at Shikon University. She squealed and practically flew out of the van. She tripped and fell, but a pair of strong arms caught her.

"Damn, Kagome. Still the same klutz you were as a kid."

Kagome lifted her head and smiled even brighter. "Inuyasha!" She gave him a big hug before backing away. "Can you believe it! I'm out of highschool!"

"Feh. It's not a surprise. You were always the smartest out of all of us."

"Inuyasha, I'm standing right here."

Inuyasha winced and scratched the back of his neck nervously. Fortunately for him, Kagome took the heat off of him as she squealed, yet again, and jumped into her older cousins arms.

"Kikyo! How are you!? I feel like it's been forever!"

Kikyo hugged Kagome back and then pulled back before responding. "Hello to you too. You seem very enthusiastic today."

"I'm just so excited!"

"Damn, woman! You're louder than usual." Inuyasha's ears pinned down to his head.

"Sorry, dog-boy." Kagome teased as she reached up to gently massage his ears.

"Feh. Whatever." He crossed his arms and looked away.

Kagome abruptly took her hand away when a thought came to her, "Oh! Are you guys able to help me bring my stuff to my dorm room? I have a lot to carry and I also don't know the campus too well."

"Of course. What are cousins for?" Kikyo gave Kagome a warm smile before heading to the trunk to help Mrs. Higurashi and Souta with unloading the van. "Inuyasha."

"Stupid women." Inuyasha grumbled to himself before helping them with the luggage.

~•~

Kagome and Inuyasha met when she was five and he was six. She was playing outside in her yard by the sacred tree when a strange boy with silver hair and dog ears jumped out of the tree and landed next to her. She screamed and fell backwards onto her butt. Her eyes had widened when she saw his ears twitch on the top of his head.

"Doggie-boy!" She had yelled and jumped up and immediately started to pet his ears.

"Hey! Stop it!" He pushed her hands away and crossed his arms. "I'm not a dog!"

Kagome cocked her head to the side and looked back up to his ears and then into his golden eyes. "What are you?"

"Feh. I'm a half dog demon."

"See? Doggie!" She giggled and reached back to his ears to pet him again.

Inuyasha grumbled to himself and backed up again. "Whatever."

"What's your name, doggie-boy?"

He growled at the nickname but she didn't even flinch. "Inuyasha."

"Hi, Inu-ya-sha. I'm Kagome! Wanna be friends?"

Inuyasha blushed and looked into her big brown eyes. He has never had a friend before. "Uhhhh.."

"Come on! Let's play!" Kagome grabbed his clawed hand without a second thought and than dragged him inside to meet her family.

Throughout the years, they were inseparable. Best of friends and as close as a boy and girl could be without being boyfriend and girlfriend. Once Kikyo started to join them in playing and hanging out, Inuyasha developed a crush at about ten years old. No one knew of this until much later. Inuyasha and Kagome were always angered when people called them a cute couple and commented on their relationship. They were very platonic friends and that was it. Kagome even introduced him to her cousin in hopes of getting him into her family! She thought of him like an older brother. She loved him, but not in any other way.

When Kagome was fifteen, she walked out to the backyard and caught Inuyasha and Kikyo kissing under the Goshinboku. At the time, Inuyasha was sixteen and Kikyo was seventeen.

She squealed and ran to them. "Ha! I knew it!"

Inuyasha and Kikyo jumped away from each other and they both blushed.

"Feh." Inuyasha looked away with his ears pinned back in embarrassment.

Kagome walked up to them and moved Inuyasha's ears so they weren't flat against his head. "I'm happy for you." She hugged him and then looked over at an uncomfortable Kikyo. "I'm happy for both of you."

"Are you sure, Kagome?" Kikyo asked.

"Positive! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well uh... You're not jealous?"

Kagome's face turned red, not in embarrassment or jealousy, but in anger. "Ugghhhh. For the last time! Inuyasha is my best friend! Nothing more!" Kagome pulled Kikyo into a tight embrace. "You have nothing to worry about. I'm glad you guys are together."

Kikyo and Inuyasha exchanged shy but happy looks.

~•~

That was three years ago. Now Kagome is being led to her new dorm room at Shikon University by her best friend and favorite cousin. Gramps and Souta had veered off somewhere to find food, leaving Mrs. Higurashi, Inuyasha and Kikyo to help Kagome with the luggage.

When they finally made it to her room, she giggled in delight before using her new key to unlock the door and enter. Inside there are two twin size beds. One on the left wall and one on the right wall. The bed to the right was already made and decorated with personal items, obviously owned by her unnamed roomate. There was also a small personal desk directly next to her roomates bed with a laptop and a printer already set up.

Kagome was only a little disappointed to see that her roomate wasn't in there at the moment but the disappointment only lasted a second before she ran to her new bed and threw down her bags in her arms. Inuyasha and Kikyo put the rest of her stuff down next to her things and looked around.

Without speaking, Kagome started to unpack her things and set them up as she hummed a random toon. She put a bulletin board above her bed on the wall, and set up the mattress with her sheets, blankets and pillows. When she pulled out a stuffed animal to place in front of her pillow, Inuyasha scoffed.

"Aren't you a little old to have stuffed animals, Kagome?"

Kagome spun around and glared at the smug hanyou. "Hey! I will have you know, it's very healthy to own stuffed animals at all ages. And anyway, you don't remember? You won this for me at a festival when we were in middle school!"

Inuyasha rolled his eyes and Kikyo looked a little uncomfortable.

"Why do you have that with you, Kagome?" Kikyo asked inconspicuously.

"Because my best friend gave it to me." She shot him a glare. "Even though he is a baka." She placed the stuffed Akita dog plushy in front of her pillow and then continued to help her mother with unpacking her clothes.

Once they were just about done unpacking, Souta and Gramps made it back to the dorm room with some help from a campus map.

"Sis! This place it awesome!" Souta came crashing in with a hot chocolate in his hand.

Kagome laughed at him and ruffled his hair.

"Hey! I'm not a little kid!"

"Yeah? Then why did you hide out so you didn't have to help unpack?"

Souta blushed and looked at his grandfather. "It was Gramps' idea!"

Mrs. Higurashi turned to their grandfather and shook her head. "You are such a bad influence on them."

"The boy needed some reason to want to come here in three years. You will thank me later."

Kagome rolled her eyes. "So, Souta. You found hot chocolate and now you love it here?"

"Not just because of that! I can't believe this place is right near a beach! There are even on campus restaurants and sports courts and -"

"Okay, dear. I think Kagome wants to be an adult and enjoy her first day on campus without us buzzing around."

Kagome smiled at her mother in thanks. She gave her family hugs before they piled out of the room, leaving her on her own for the first time ever. She turned to Inuyasha and Kikyo and smiled brightly.

"Well, I'm going to relax for a little bit before I have to worry about classes."

"You're studying to become a doctor, right Kagome?" Kikyo asked.

"Yes! But I'm specifically specializing using my Miko abilities. I want to be able to hone in on my powers and heal everyone I can. Human, demon and hanyou."

Inuyasha blushed and Kikyo smiled. Kikyo also has Miko abilities but she decided to become a regular pediatric nurse. She never wanted to be different, so she chose a different path then what she was born into. Kagome was born with the stronger abilities anyway.

"Well, we'll see you later then. Text us and we'll do something when you aren't busy." Kikyo gave Kagome a hug before heading out with Inuyasha behind.

"See ya wench."

Kagome stuck her tongue out at him. "Bye, dog-boy!"

Kagome turned around to go sit down on her bed when she heard a new females voice.

"Oh! Excuse me, sorry!'

Kagome turned to see a slightly older woman, who looks to be about twenty years old. She has long black hair in a high ponytail, with bangs down her forehead. She is a few inches taller then Kagome and her clothes are tight in all the right places..

Wait. Why is she thinking about that?

"Uh. Hi."

"Hey! You must be my new roommate. Was that your boyfriend leaving?"

"Ugghh. No. He is my best friend. We are NOT dating."

The woman smiled and held her hand out. "I'm Sango. I'm guessing a lot of people mention him as being your boyfriend?"

Kagome shook her hand and felt a slight tingle from the contact that she has never felt before. "Uh, yeah. Sorry, it just gets tiring after a while. The woman he was with is actually my cousin. They have been together for three years. My name is Kagome, by the way." Kagome removed her hand from Sango's and turned back to finish folding clothes.

"I see. So did you meet him through your cousin then, Kagome?"

Kagome slightly giggled. "Not exactly. I've known Inuyasha since I was five years old and he was six. I introduced them to each other."

"Ah. He is cute though."

Kagome spun around to look at Sango's serious face and she scrunched hers up in disgust. "Ew. He is like a brother to me."

Sango laughed. "Well, I can see you're serious. It's pretty rare for a girl and guy to be that close and fully platonic."

Kagome shrugged her shoulders. "Just lucky I guess."

Sango sat down at her desk chair while Kagome sat down on the edge of her bed. "Any boyfriends then?"

Kagome blushed and looked at her twiddling fingers. "Well, uh... I've never had a boyfriend."

Sango opened up a bottle of water and took a sip. "Girlfriends?"

Kagome shot her head up and looked at Sango, shocked. "What? No!"

Sango let out a nervous laugh. "Sorry. I didn't mean to overstep. It's just very surprising to me that you haven't had a relationship."

"Why is that?"

"Have you looked in the mirror? You are very pretty."

Kagome blushed and looked away. "I just uh, have never been interested in anyone, I guess."

Sango smiled, "Well there is nothing wrong with that. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I've never had a relationship either. I have had crushes but nothing further."

Kagome looked back into Sango's eyes. "Really? But you're beautiful!" Kagome immediately blushed and covered her mouth with her hands.

Sango laughed and shook her head. "Have you never spoken like this between girls before?"

Kagome shook her head. "Not really. I was always the less pretty one when it came to my cousin, Kikyo. I had three friends throughout school who were girls and I was always too busy with school work to hang out too much. There was a boy, Hojo, who had a crush on me since I was fifteen and he wouldn't get the hint that I wasn't interested until Inuyasha threatened to claw off his.. uh.. yeah. haha."

"Well. I hope we can become good friends, Kagome."

Kagome smiled, "Me too, Sango."

~•~

The next morning, Kagome's alarm went off. She hurriedly turned it off and jumped out of bed excitedly. Today is the day she is going to get her itinerary for classes. She has always been a good student. The only class she had to work extra hard in was math. It was so bad that it used to give her nightmares. Luckily her cousin Kikyo was intelligent and helped her study until she brought that grade up to a B. The rest of her classes were all easy A's.

Kagome went to her closet and grabbed an outfit for the day. She also grabbed her toiletries and then quietly headed out of the door so as not to disturb her slumbering roommate. She headed down the hall to the shared bathroom to get ready for the day. The large bathroom has ten stalls and ten showers along with ten sinks. She smiles at how much room there is in this place. She brushed her teeth and hair, took a quick shower, relieved herself and got dressed for the day. She isn't really the type of girl to worry about make-up, so no need for that.

When she made it back to the shared room, Sango was awake and getting dressed. She was in skinny jeans and only a bra covering her top half. Kagome blushed and looked away before shutting the door.

"S-sorry."

Sango slipped her shirt on over herself and smiled. "No worries. We're both woman, right?"

Kagome nodded her head before putting her used pajamas in her hamper and the rest of her toiletries away.

"Hey, wanna get some coffee with me? I know a pretty nice cafe on campus."

Kagome turned around with a bright smile on her face. "Really? Sure! How uh, how long have you been coming here?"

Sango smiled. "This is my third year. I just turned twenty a few weeks ago."

"I had no idea they housed different ages together."

"Yeah. We're all adults, so it's just randomized in the system unless you request a specific roommate. Hey, maybe we could room together next year!"

Kagome let out a nervous giggle and fixed some of her hair behind her ear. "Uh, sure, but um.. you don't have like friends that you've known longer than me?"

Sango shrugged her shoulders. "I know some people, but we are not too close. Why don't we go to a party this weekend to meet some new people? This is your first year here so maybe we can make some friends together."

"Sure. I'm not much of a party type of girl, but I can try and have some fun before classes start up."

"Awesome! Now, lets go get that coffee."

~•~

"This place is awesome, Sango!" Kagome is happily drinking her french vanilla latte with extra whipped cream while sitting next to her new friend in the campus cafe.

"I told you it was nice here." Sango gave her a warm smile.

"Couldn't stay away from your girly drinks for one day, could ya 'Gome?"

Kagome looked over to see Inuyasha and Kikyo with drinks in their hands. She sat her latte down on the table and jumped up to give Inuyasha a hug.

"Inuyasha! Isn't it awesome here!?"

"Feh. Been here before. Or didja forget that this is my second year?"

Kagome pulled away and glared at him. "You're no fun." She turned to give Kikyo a hug also. "Hey!"

"Hello, Kagome. I see you've already found this cafe."

Kagome pulled away and sat back down next to Sango while Inuyasha and Kikyo sat across from them.

"Yeah! My new friend Sango told me about it. This is her third year here."

Sango reached her hand forward and shook hands with both adults across from her. "Kikyo, right? You look familiar."

Kikyo thought for a moment and then nodded. "I think we took the same English class freshman year."

"Oh! Yeah, I completely forgot about that. We must not have been in any classes together since then. And Inuyasha, I don't think we've met. I definitely would not forget your face."

"Feh."

Kagome shook her head. "He is a man of few words."

The girls snickered while the hanyou blushed.

~•~

After Kagome finished with getting her itinerary, Sango invited her to have lunch. They hung out at the campus sushi place for a while before Sango took Kagome for a tour around campus.

While they were sitting at one of the campus fountains snacking on some pocky, Sango brought up a certain someone again.

"So, Kagome. Are you sure you don't like Inuyasha?"

Kagome turned to her friend. "What do you mean?"

"Don't get mad okay? It's just, when you saw him earlier, your face seemed to light up. Has there ever been something between you two?"

Kagome rolled her eyes, not to be rude, more out of exasperation. "I swear, we have never been more than platonic friends. No more than hugs and bantering with each other. He is like an older brother to me. I see him in the same light as I see my little brother, Souta. I even introduced him to Kikyo, hoping they would hit it off."

Sango nodded in understanding. "Forgive me. Sometimes it's hard to see such a close relationship and not think that there is something more to it."

"Don't worry about it, Sango. You aren't the first to say that and I'm sure you won't be the last. I've just.. I don't know.. I've never felt like that for a guy before. I guess I have just been too busy with school to pay much attention." She shrugged her shoulders as she munched on some more pocky.

"What about that boy, uh.. Hojo? He chased after you for three years and you didn't like him?"

Kagome swallowed her Pocky and looked back into Sango's eyes. "I mean. He was sweet I guess.. I just never felt.. I don't know, a spark."

"Maybe you'll meet someone at the party on Saturday."

Kagome shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know.."

Sango laughed and shook her head. They continued to eat their snacks in comfortable silence, Sango sneaking quick glances to Kagome every so often.

~•~

Saturday came way too fast for Kagome. Nervous was an understatement. She was a complete wreck. She has never been to a party before. Hell, the most fun she has ever had was when Inuyasha would run through the forest with her on his back. But that was just the two of them. She was never great with large groups. Neither was he, which was just one reason why they are such great friends.

Sango helped her pick out an appropriate outfit and they got ready together. Kagome has been sneaking glances at her roommate while they were brushing their hair and putting on an appropriate amount of jewelry. She keeps getting this weird feeling in her chest whenever Sango brushes up against her or takes her hand and leads her somewhere, or even just talks to her about something random. She has had friends before and has never felt this way so she is confused. Maybe she just has a deeper connection to Sango than she has had with other friends. Which doesn't really make sense. She has known Inuyasha her whole life and loves him like a brother. Shouldn't she feel closer to him? She doesn't feel like Sango is a sister. So what is this feeling?

A knock at the door brought her out of her lingering thoughts. Sango asked her to get it while she finishes up with her light eye shadow. When she opens the door, Inuyasha, Kikyo and a guy she has never seen before are at the other side.

"Hey, Inuyasha!"

"What the hell are you wearing Kagome!? Isn't that a little.. too much?" Kagome is in a low cut royal blue v-neck dress shirt that shows just a small amount of cleavage, with tight black leggings that shows off her curves. Her clothes are very tight but also comfortable.

Before she could respond, the guy with black hair tied into a small ponytail and small hoop earings brought her hands in his.

"I think the lady is very enticing. Why hello there. I'm Miroku. You are just so beautiful. Tell me, will you bare my child?"

Kagome's entire face paled and she pulled her hands away quickly before backing up slightly. Sango came up to the door and rolled her eyes.

"Miroku. Are you really going to flirt with Kagome as soon as you meet her?"

"Jealous, my dear Sango?"

She rolled her eyes once more, "As if."

"Um. What are you guys doing here?" Kagome asked Inuyasha, while ignoring that rather forward and blunt mans advances.

Kikyo spoke up from behind the guys, "Miroku dragged us out to go to some party. He says Sango is going so we came to pick her up."

"Kagome is coming too." Sango replied.

Inuyasha's black eyebrows raised above his bangs. "You.. are going.. to a party?"

"Hey! I can do fun things!"

"Keh. I bet you can't last an hour."

"You're on, dog-boy! I'll stay as long as Sango."

"That's the spirit!" Miroku chimes in. He stands between the girls with his arms out for them to grab. "Ladys?"

They looked at each other and rolled their eyes but looped an arm around each of his anyway to allow him to show them the way. Kagome stuck her tongue out at Inuyasha as they passed him.

Inuyasha and Kikyo shared a look and followed their friends to the party.

~•~

As soon as they made it to the campus approved, new school year party held in the guy's dorm main lobby, a shout from the crowd had Inuyasha groaning, Kikyo grinning and Miroku snickering.

"Inuyashaaaa!"

Kagome looked up to see a very flamboyant man shimmying his way through the sea of people and towards them.

"Who's that?" She asked no one in particular.

Miroku smirked and replied, "That's Jakotsu."

Before he could explain more, Jakotsu rushed forward and practically crushed himself to Inuyasha's body.

"How is my half-demon Adonis this evening!?"

Inuyasha growled and shoved him off. "For the last time. Please don't do that."

Jakotsu waved Inuyasha's brash behavior off and looked at the two girls he's never seen before. "And who might you lovely ladies be?"

Miroku responded, "This is Kagome, long friend of Inuyasha and this is the lovely Sango." Sango gave Miroku a glare but shook Jakotsu's hand in greeting.

Jakotsu stared down Kagome. "So, you have known this big hunka man for a while? Have you too fucked?"

Kagome immediately paled and Inuyasha growled with his arm protectively around Kikyo. Miroku snickered and Sango hid her knowing smile.

"What!? Gross! He's my best friend!"

Jakotsu let out a hearty laugh. "Guurl, if he does nothin' for you, than no man will. My gay-dar is definitely going off right about now."

Kagome grew impossibly red. "Huh? I.. He's like a brother to me. I've known him since I was five years old." So many new and confusing feelings erupted in her chest. She has never even thought about it before. She's never been attracted to a guy before. Well, she hasn't been attracted to a girl before either! So she can't be gay!

Sango came up and put an arm around Kagome's shoulders in a protective embrace. This causes tingles to shoot through her entire body. 'I'm not..' She looks at Sango out of the corner of her eye.

Sango begins to speak before Kagome had a chance to think on that further. "Just because you find Inuyasha to be the main event in your wet dreams, doesn't mean Kagome needs to find him in the same light. She practically grew up with him."

Inuyasha growls low in his chest. "Damn it. If you are all done with talking about him wanting to fuck me and Kagome not wanting to fuck me, than can we just get a drink or somethin'?"

Jakotsu smiled lovingly at Inuyasha, (making Inuyasha a little uncomfortable), and then relents. "Well alright. What kind of drink do you girls want? Vodka, Wine, Sake?"

Kagome looks at Inuyasha and he shrugs his shoulders. "I've never uh.. tried anything before." Kagome blushes.

Sango grabs Kagome's hand and starts to walk her to where the 'bar' is set up. "Don't worry about it, Kagome. If you don't want to drink, you don't have to. Don't let any of them pressure you into something you aren't comfortable with."

Kagome barely registered what Sango said. She is staring at where their hands are connected and the feelings erupting within her are confusing her more and more. When they finally made it to the drinks with the rest of their group a few seconds behind, Kagome finally heard what it was Sango said.

"Huh? Oh, Uh.. I guess I have wanted to try vodka before."

Sango pulled her hand back from Kagome's. (Kagome definitely did NOT get disappointed by the loss of warmth) Then Sango filled up two shot glasses and handed Kagome one.

"You don't have to drink, but here you are. I'll be with you to make sure you don't overdo it your first time. Alright?"

Kagome nodded her head as Sango held out her glass. They tapped their glasses together before taking it down in one gulp. Jakotsu cheered and continued to fill his own glass of sake while handing one to Inuyasha and Miroku. Inuyasha filled a glass of wine for Kikyo.

"Well, hello there."

Kagome spun around to be face to face with a demon. He has long black hair, tied up in a high ponytail and sparkling blue eyes.

"Uh. Hi?"

Before he could say anything further, she heard a very familiar growl from behind her. She rolled her eyes and looked back at the irate half demon.

"Hey, muttface! I didn't expect to see YOU at a party!"

"Damn, wolf. What're you doin' flirtin' with Kagome!?"

"Inuyasha! You don't get to just keep guys away from me. You aren't my father!"

His growls became louder. "She is way too innocent to be around you. Now beat it."

The demon ignores Inuyasha to look back into Kagome's eyes. "I'm Koga."

"Kagome." She responds, also ignoring the baka hanyou behind her.

Koga leans forward a sniffs Kagome slightly. "Ah. So the mutt was right. You are untouched."

Kagome blushed and shoots Inuyasha a glare. "I don't see how any of that is your business."

"Why don't I take you out on a date tomorrow?"

'What is with this guy?' "Uh, no thank you." She turns and gestures for Sango to refill her shot glass and takes that one down even faster than the first.

Jakotsu puts his hand on Kagome's shoulder and looks down at her incredulously. "Kagome. First you say that hot ass of a half demon doesn't do anything for you. Which I guess if you grew up with him kinda like a brother, it makes a little sense. But now you're turning down this scrumptious piece a wolf? There's nothing wrong with being gay ya know. Just tell him you like pussy and to fuck off."

Was coming to this party a mistake? She has never been around so many people at once and it is becoming overwhelming. Not only has she been hit on twice. But some random gay guy who she doesn't even know is making her question her sexuality. She's eighteen years old. Shouldn't she know by now? Before she could respond though, Inuyasha speaks up again.

"Alright. That's enough. Kagome, do you want to leave? We can take you back to your dorm."

Kagome looks back at Inuyasha and Kikyo's concerned faces, then at Miroku who even lost his flirty grin. Then she noticed Koga still giving her googly eyes which, honestly? Kind of revulted her. Then she saw Sango. Her brown eyes, looking at her with clear care and concern. Kagome gave her a half smile and turned back to Inuyasha.

"No. I told you I could be here longer than an hour. I plan to win that bet." She filled her shot glass up herself and took it back like she had the others. Her friends gave her concerned glances but she ignored them. No more being the weird one out. She is going to hang out with this new group of misfits and she is going to have fun, damn it!

~•~

About an hour later, Kagome is sitting on a loveseat with Sango, chatting about their lives and how similar their younger brothers are. Kagome can now honestly say, she has been drunk. Sango has made sure not to let her drink herself into oblivion, but she no longer has a stick up her ass.

She has realized that the longer she talks to Sango, the closer Sango sits next to her, the more she looks into her eyes, the more these new and confusing feelings manifest in her chest. She has never felt this way before. Before she could think on that further, someone speaks up from to her right.

"Hey there, Kagome."

Kagome looks into those familiar blue eyes and smiles warmly to be polite, "Oh, hey Koga."

Koga looks over at Sango who seems to be slightly irritated with his presence. "Do you mind if I take your seat for a few minutes, Sango?"

Sango looks to Kagome and can see the disappointment and hesitation in her gaze. She looks back up at Koga to respond. "I'm not so sure she wants that."

Koga looks back into Kagome's eyes and smiles. "It'll only be a few minutes. Just to talk? I guess I came on a little strong earlier. I want to properly apologize."

Kagome glances over at Sango and takes a breath in. "Uh. Okay."

Sango places a warm hand on Kagome's shoulder, sending shocks of pleasure through her, before moving her face closer to whisper in her ear. She can feel Sango's breath on her skin and it makes her shiver involuntarily. "I'll be close, okay?"

Kagome nods her head and barely notices when Sango leaves and Koga sits down in her place. Until, she feels a very manly arm around her shoulder. She looks to her left to see Koga smiling warmly at her.

"Hi, Koga."

"Hello, Kagome. I'm sorry if I came on too strong earlier. I just got one look at you and couldn't help myself. You are beautiful."

Kagome blushed and looked away. She glanced at Sango before looking back at Koga. Flashes of Jakotsu's earlier words pop into her mind.

"Gurl, if he does nothin' for you, than no man will. My gay-dar is definitely going off right about now."

Kogome shakes her head of those thoughts and looks back at Koga. She feels nothing when she looks at him. She can tell that he might be attractive to other people but.. She doesn't feel anything like how she should. Shouldn't she feel something? Should she have liked Inuyasha growing up? Should she have went out with Hojo? She doesn't know the answer and she's a little inebriated right now, so her decision making skills are a bit shot. Should she test it and see if there's a 'spark' with Koga? Maybe that's why there isn't an attraction. She hasn't tried to kiss anyone before.

When Koga began to look at her with worried eyes, she realized she has been sitting silent for a while.

"Kagome? You alright?"

Kogome gulped and looked down at his lips before looking back into his eyes. Koga smirked. Just that one glance was enough to get him to know, or at least to get him to think he knows, what she must have been thinking about.

"Kagome. Can I.. kiss you?"

He could smell her nervousness. He knew she was innocent, but that innocent? She is this beautiful and has never kissed anyone before? Koga moved a stray hair from Kagome's face to behind her ear and leaned in slightly.

"Say no if you want me to stop."

She didn't say anything. She just looked down at his lips and let him lean in further. She closed her eyes and her breath caught when his lips brushed against hers. Then his clawed hand held her cheek a little more firmly as he smashed his lips onto hers.

Kagome's mind is realing. Should she enjoy this? Is this right? Why does it feel so wrong? Koga moves his lips against hers a little more forcefully. She decides to give in a little and move with him. That is, until his tongue brushed up against her lips. She gasped and jumped backwards and away from his lips. She looks at him flabbergasted for a moment and then puts her fingers to her mouth. She managed to have her first kiss and felt absolutely nothing. When he wanted to deepen the kiss, she felt that revulsion again. Why did she feel this way? Was this normal?

"Kagome?"

Her eyes snapped back to his. "I.. I'm sorry, Koga. I need some fresh air." She jumped up off the seat, put a hand to her head to wave off the sudden dizziness and then ran as fast as she could through the crowd. She ran outside and went to a lone bench where she put her knees up to her chest and felt tears prick her eyes but she didn't let them fall.

Back inside, Sango saw Kagome run and she marched over to Koga. "What the hell did you do!?"

"What? I didn't do anything! I asked her if I could kiss her. Told her to tell me no if she didn't want me to. We kissed and then she kind of just freaked out!"

"Ugghhhh." Sango slammed her drink glass onto the side table and went to where Kagome ran but she couldn't find her within the crowd.

Back outside, Kagome hears a familiar voice. "Honey, you okay?" She looks up to see Jakotsu in all his obvious gay glory and she chuckles slightly which ends in a small sob. He sits next to her and puts an arm around her shoulders. "What's wrong? I saw you running outta there but didn't see what happened."

Kagome wipes the lone tear away before speaking, but she can't look into his eyes. "How uh.. how did you know.."

"That I'm gayer than a unicorn farting rainbow sprinkles?"

Kagome laughed at his analogy and nodded her head in the affirmative.

"I never liked any girls. I could make friends with them and gossip, but I never wanted to kiss them or date them. One day, I tried it to see if I could feel anything. I asked my best friend to be my 'test subject' and we kissed. Not only did I not feel anything, but it disgusted me. Than I started to look at people more closely and I realized that I really like how certain boys looked. Then, I just knew."

Kagome looked up into his sincere eyes. "How uh.. How old were you?"

"I was thirteen. But let me tell you honey, it doesn't matter if you are eleven or eighteen or twenty-five, it's never a wrong time to find out something about yourself."

Kagome nodded before taking a deep breath and speaking again. "I uh.. I've never had a boyfriend and never kissed anyone. I grew up with Inuyasha and never found him attractive. I've had a boy pine for me for three years but never felt anything for him. I.. I just kissed Koga and it.. it felt completely wrong. I've never looked at anyone as more then a friend but than... uh.. recently I met someone who I feel differently about.. I was confused because this is new to me. That's why I kissed Koga. I didn't know if what I have been feeling for her was attraction or not, and I wanted to know if I would feel a spark with him."

"Well. If you ever need anyone to talk to about this, let me know. Alright honey? I know it can be difficult at times and you don't have to tell anyone if you aren't ready. I won't tell anybody either. I am sorry about what I said earlier. Sometimes I can be a little out there. I've been out since middle school and sometimes I forget that other people aren't in the same situation as me."

"Th-thank you."

They both look up to see Inuyasha walk outside. Jakotsu stands up and walks over to him. "She needs a friend." Then he heads back inside without another word.

Inuyasha begins to worry. Jakotsu has never been in the same vicinity as him before without trying to flirt or undress him with his eyes. Inuyasha walks up and silently sits next to Kagome. They don't say anything for a while until Kagome looks up into Inuyasha's worried golden eyes and she puts her face into his chest to let out a few silent tears.

"K-Kagome. Tell me what happened. Was the party too much?"

She shakes her head and then steadies her breathing. "I... Jakotsu was right."

Inuyasha moves Kagome's head so she looks back into his eyes. "Right about what?"

She shakes her head to say no but than sighs and responds anyway. "I think.. uh.. I don't like guys.. like.. at all.."

"What?"

"I um.. kissed Koga because -" She was cut off my Inuyasha's growling. "Inuyasha!" He stopped growling to let her finish. "I did it because I didn't understand why I have never liked a boy. I have never been attracted to a boy and never wanted to kiss them."

"You never wanted to with a girl too though, right?"

"Not until..." She looked away blushing and embarrassed.

"Kagome. You don't have to tell me. I think I know who you are talking about and it's okay. I'm here and you can talk to me whenever you feel comfortable."

Kagome let out a shaky breath and continues, "When I met.. Sango.. I started feeling things I've never felt before.. I started to notice things about her I have never noticed about anyone else. I enjoy being around her in a different way than being around you or Souta or my three friends from high school. I didn't understand it until Jakotsu let his gay-dar out on me." Inuyasha growled lightly but Kagome continued anyway. "That's why I kissed Koga. I wanted to feel something for him but all I felt was disgust and just, wrongness. It didn't feel like it was right at all." She burried her face back into his chest while he hugged her tighter.

"It's okay, Kagome. Things aren't as bad in this day and age, not many people will give two shits about who you like or don't like."

"I'm sorry. I know you had to deal with a lot being a half-demon. What I'm feeling isn't comparable."

Inuyasha started to stroke her hair with his claws. "Hey, it doesn't matter what I went through. You were always there for me, and I'll always be there for you."

"Thank you, Inuyasha."

Inuyasha lightly kissed the top of her head and then they fell into comfortable silence.

That's how Kikyo found them about five minutes later. Inuyasha looked up when he could detect her scent in the air. He could also detect the scent of jealousy and he understands why she would feel that way, but he still can't help but be annoyed by it. Never once has he or Kagome been together in a romantic way.

"Kagome?"

Kagome looked up to see her older cousin right in front of her. "Oh, Hi Kikyo." She wiped her stray tears away and gave her a weak smile.

"What's wrong?"

"I.. uh.. nothing. It's okay now. Inuyasha spoke to me and I feel better."

Inuyasha removed his arm from around Kagome's shoulders when Kikyo's scent of jealousy spiked even more. Before he could speak further, another scent hit his nose.

"Kagome? You okay? I've been looking everywhere for you!" Sango rushed forward and sat on the other side of Kagome. She put her arm around her and pulled her close. "I saw what happened with Koga. He told me his side, do you want to tell me yours? That way I know if I need to beat his ass or not."

Kagome laughed lightly at that and wiped her face again. "Its fine. I let him kiss me and then I got flustered and left. Sorry to worry you."

Inuyasha stood up and put his arm around Kikyo. "You good, Kagome?"

"Yeah. Thanks again, Inuyasha. I don't know what I'd do without you." She gave another weak smile to Kikyo and watched as they walked back into the party.

Inuyasha knows Kikyo is suspicious. He can smell it on her. But no matter what, he won't betray his best friend.

"Are you sure you're okay, Kagome?"

Kagome looked into Sango's eyes for the first time since she came outside. "Y-yeah. I uh, I want to go back to the dorm. But you can stay, I'll be fine."

"No way. You were drinking and it's dark out. I'll at least take you back."

Kagome nodded her head in reluctant understanding and allowed Sango to take her hand to help her back up. Then Sango wrapped her arm around Kagome's shoulders as they walked back towards their shared room.

Once they made it back, Kagome changed into her pajamas and layed down for bed. She is more tired than she could remember being in a long time. Sure she didn't get plastered, but she did drink for the first time, had her first kiss, and realized something life changing about herself. She is absolutely positively exhausted.

Sango sits down on the edge of the bed and looks down at Kagome. Kagome looks back at her and smiles.

"You can go back to the party, you know."

"It's getting late and I wasn't having much fun anyway. I'm going to call it a night too. Do you need anything?"

Kagome shakes her head in the negative. When Sango gets up to go to the other side of the room, Kagome speaks. "Sango?"

Sango turns around, "Yes?"

"Why are you being so nice to me? We have barely known each other for a week. I must seem like such a child to you if you have to take care of me like this."

Sango smiles. "You definitely don't seem like a child to me, Kagome. And even though we haven't known each other very long, I am glad to call you my friend. Why wouldn't I be nice to you?"

Kagome's heart fluttered at the look of sincerity in Sango's eyes. She shook her head and blushed. "... Thank you." 'I really do have a crush.'

Sango gave her a warm smile and watched as Kagome closed her eyes to fall asleep. She sighed as she turned to get dressed and also lay in bed. These feelings she is having are coming way faster than any other crush she has had before. She has known she is bisexual since she was fifteen. She hasn't ever been in an actual relationship but she has felt romantic and sexual feelings towards both guys and girls. She knows what she is feeling and she is trying to tamp it down. Kagome has never been with anyone either and she just practically made-out with Koga. So it's pretty safe to say she is straight. Even if she did run out on him. She said she was just flustered. Not that she didn't like it at all.

Sango sighed again as she closed her eyes for sleep.

"Kikyo. What did I do now?"

Kikyo rolled her eyes and grabbed Inuyasha by the hand to pull him away from the crowd of people. She shoved him into the dark hallway and stood next to him with her hands on her hips.

"Do you have feelings for Kagome?"

Inuyasha's eyes widened in surprise. "What?"

Kikyo let out a puff of air. "That did not answer my question, Inuyasha."

"Of course I don't! Why would you say that?"

"You're always so close."

"We're best friends! You know this, Kikyo."

"What about when you told me you had a crush on her?"

"We were kids! I got over that almost ten years ago!"

"Well, she seems to have something for you."

Inuyasha laughed. "That is the furthest thing from the truth."

"What am I supposed to think? She gets upset and you go to her and then she cries on your shoulder!"

Inuyasha slid a clawed hand down his face in exasperation. "Kikyo. I promise you, there is nothing and there never will be anything between me and Kagome. I love you and only you. If you don't believe me, than talk to your cousin."

Kikyo sighed. "I want to believe you, but I can't help how I feel when you hug her like that and how her face lights up when she sees you. She has a freakin' stuffed animal in her bed that you won for her!"

"Please Kikyo. What will it take for you to believe me?" He closes the small gap between them and cups her cheek with his right hand.

"Tell me what you were talking about outside." She could visibily see and feel him stiffin up next to her. Her eyes narrowed. "That is precisely why it is hard for me to believe there is nothing between you two. Why can't you tell me, Inuyasha?"

"It.. it's not my secret to tell, Kikyo."

"So she is sharing secrets with you?"

"Why shouldn't she? We are best friends! She is your cousin! Damn it, Kikyo! Go talk to her tomorrow if you don't believe me. I'm going back to my dorm room now. I'm done with this shit tonight." He removes his hand from her face and leaves without another word.

Kikyo takes a deep breath in and pulls out her phone to text her cousin.

[SMS sending to: Kagome] - Hey, can we meet up for coffee tomorrow?

She put her phone back into her pocket and then leaves the party also. There doesn't seem to be anyone left here for her to talk to right now.
