InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Falling For the Baby Sitter ❯ This is Your Brain on Drugs. ( Chapter 9 )
He showered and washed his hair. When he got out the room was filled with steam. Inu Yasha took a hand and wiped the steam from the mirror and looked at himself. He stood there with a towel wrapped around his waist as his thoughts wondered off to Kouga and the argument they had after Kagome and the kids left. He shook his head clearing his thoughts and then walked out to his room to get dressed.
Kagome laid back and folded her arms behind her head listening to the sounds of Inu Yasha in the shower and after a while she felt the pill start to affect her. She rubbed her eyes trying to make the room come into focus, but it continued to swim before her eyes in misty waves. She blinked again as her mind slipped into a state of mush and she eyed the poster of Trunks with a Kamehameha attack. Her eyes widened. She could have sworn she just saw the damn thing move!
Kagome stumbled out of bed as she seemed to see another ki blast fired at her. She clambered down the hall and pounded on the door a few times, "Yashy! Yashy! Yashyyyyy!!!"
He had gotten half way dressed when he heard Kagome at the door, "Shit, I shouldn't have given her that pill." He walked over and opened his door. He stood there in his gray sweat pants, his hair back in a braid, with a white t-shirt in his hand, "I told you to go to sleep Kags."
Kagome went to pound on the door again but fell forward to pound on nothing other than his bare chest. She stared at his chest, the drug making her action monitor shut off. She blinked a coupled times and continued to stare, "Uhhhhhh..."
He caught her by her upper arms as she fell onto his chest, "Whoa....you're gonna hurt yourself again," he steadied her on her own feet and looked at her, "What are you doing up? I told you to stay in bed."
She blinked a couple times trying to focus again but her eyes kept being drawn back to his chest like a magnet, "...There is...uhh... Vegetable baby... with big BOOM thing... and...Ummm..." She blinked and looked around, "I really wish you would stop dancing like that... and make the room stop spinning...it's making me dizzy..."
He picked her up and slung her across his shoulder, "You're going to bed and stay there ...if you don't I will tie you down," he walked back to her room and put her on the bed, "Now, close your eyes, and go to sleep, I have to make a phone call."
She scowled at him and threw her arms around his leg, "Noooooooooo, the bad bad vegetable baby will get me!"
His eyes went wide as he looked at her, "Kagome, I can't stay I have to make a phone call," he bent down and pulled her off his leg, "Go to sleep, you have to meet my mom in the morning."
She stayed latched tight and shook her head furiously, "IIE!! Kaggie wantsa Yashy!"
He sighed in aggravation, "Let me get the phone and I will make the call from here, ok."
Kagome crawled over to the door to wait for him and sat down, "Come right back!"
He nodded and went to his room and got the cordless phone. He dialed Kouga's number as he walked back to her room. He sat down in the door way and waited for Kouga to pick up. He smiled as he heard Kouga's voice on the phone, "Hey, Kouga, are you ok now?" His brows furrowed as Kouga told him he wanted to go to bed and that they would talk in the morning "But …but Kouga .....I want to explain, ok? ...Please…"
Kouga sighed, "Alright, Inu, I believe you. You don't have to go into it again, ok?" Inu closed his eyes and leaned against the wall, "Alright, you know I love you, right?" Kouga smiled though Inu couldn't see it, "I know, Inu Yasha, I know, now, good night, I will see you tomorrow." Inu sighed, "Alright". Kouga chuckled, "I love you too, Inu," and then he hung up the phone, Inu Yasha smiled and then hung up and looked at her.
Kagome was on the floor drawing pictures in the carpet quietly trying not to look at him and was rocking back and forth humming a lullaby, the drug still keeping a tight hold on her warped mind.
He nudged Kagome, "Get into bed and close your eyes. You have to meet Mom in the morning."
She looked up at him strangely, shook her head, and stopped humming.
"Kagome I have to get some sleep, I have band practice tomorrow, come on, go to bed," he pleaded with her giving her an I'm-about-to-die-from-lack-of-sleep look.
She looked at him and tilted her head to the side, "Is Yasha mad at 'Gome for bringing dinner to him?"
He shook his head, "No I'm not mad, now get into bed."
Kagome poked at her leg a bit and leaned against the wall, "What's your mom like?"
He laughed, "She is nice. You will like her, now go to bed, Kagome."
She looked up at him and made a face at him, "On one condition."
He yawned, "What is it?"
She held up to fingers, "You have a choice; you can sing me a lullaby or read me a bed time story. ^__^"
He blinked, "I don't know any lullabies or stories."
She pulled something out from under her bed and handed it to him. It turned out to be a book of Children's fairytales that she used to read to the kids when they couldn't sleep. They still were marked with their favorite stories, Mayu was marked with Cinderella and Kanna was marked with Beauty and the Beast, and so forth, "Pick one," she chirped.
He looked at the book and snorted, "I would rather sing."
She made a face at him, "Then sing."
"Fine, I think I will," Inu Yasha smirked as he began to sing, "And its all the little things that to the surface brings the comfort and the pain the fear behind a smile we lose along the way the things we leave behind among the precipice of things we should not climb and I'm the first in line," he reached out and stroked her hair as he continued singing. "There's an anchor around my heart dragging me down beneath the waves of silence I fall there's a halo above my head spinning me round cause I don't know if I'm alive or dead a dagger in my hand bleeding me dry."
Kagome closed her eyes and leaned against his hand. She listened to his voice and a small smile spread over her features as sleep began to take her.
He continued to stroke her hair as he watched her falling asleep, "Good night, Kagome."
She mumbled slightly about to fall over the edge where she teetered over consciousness and sleep, "Night...Inu-kun...." she mumbled.
He smiled and picked her up and put her on her bed and then covered her up. "Yeah, good night," he walked out the door quietly and went to his own room. He closed the door and jumped onto his bed closing his eyes.
