Kouga pulled his messed up hair into a pony tail. "Well, now Kagome has gotten all her presents, how about we go outside and play?" he asked, looking at the kids. "That way, you can burn off that excess energy."

Souta and Shippou bounded up from their seats and pulled on their sandals since they had changed out of their P.J.'s while Inu Yasha was with Kagome.

Mayu hopped up and bounded over to Inu Yasha, and clung to his leg. "Puppy!!!!!! Can I have a piggy back ride?!?!?!"

Inu Yasha smiled as he bent down and placed his hands on the floor to make himself as low as he could, so she could get on. "Sure, I don't see why not," he said.

She placed her hands on his back and then swung her leg over him, clinging to his shirt collar, giggling ecstatically. "WEEE!!"

He stood up slowly and hooked his arms around her legs, making sure she wouldn't fall backwards. Kouga and the boys walked out the door and he followed. Shippou and Souta bounded over to the swing set and sand box in the back yard. Inu Yasha carried Mayu over to the swings and set her down. "Go and play, Mayu," he said as he shaded his eyes from the sun with his hand.

She giggled and ran off, tackling Souta to the ground then leaping up to bolt behind the swing set.

Kagome sat up in her bed and eyed the quilt, trying to clear her head. She ran her hand down the comforter, her smooth fingers feeling the bumpy texture of the stitching.

Pulling her knees up to her chest, she let her mind wander over what had happened. A small sigh of girlish pleasure welled up in her chest, only to be squashed in a matter of seconds with a small frown.

Kagome wrapped her fingers around the neck of the guitar, and picked up the instrument carefully, brushing her raven black hair back out of her face, her gleaming silver eyes landing on the strings as she began to pluck out the same gentle tune she had been playing before the string snapped.

A soft hum vibrated past her lips as she continued to play the soft tune before picking up the tempo. A soft smile flitted across her face and she looked down at the strings, strands of midnight ebony falling across her pallid creamy cheek.

Inu Yasha sat back onto the ground and watched the kids play. Kouga sat down in a chair next to him. "Inu Yasha, you look tired, go back to bed," he said as he stroked Inu Yasha's long black hair.

Inu Yasha shook his head. "Nahhh...I'm fine, I need to get out into the sun for awhile," he squinted his eyes shut. "But I do wish I had brought my sunglasses outside."

Kouga laughed. "If I didn't know better, I would swear you're becoming a vampire, Inu Yasha." He patted him on the shoulder and then turned his eyes back to the kids.

Mayu was pretending to take a fatal blow, and fell dramatically to the sand in the sand box.

Shippou ran to Mayu and poked her with his toe. "OK?"

Souta pushed a shovel through the sand, making a trap for his toy soldiers.

Inu Yasha and Kouga laughed at the kids playing.

Mayu reached up and grabbed Shippou's leg, tugging him down, before leaping up and running past Souta, spraying him with sand.

The boys got up and chased after Mayu, laughing as they passed Inu Yasha and Kouga. "Oi, runts, slow down before someone gets hurt," the younger man called out to them.

The little girl glanced over her shoulder, before changing direction and speeding toward the two older med, leaping through the space between them and darting up the steps of the porch, cackling like a mini wicked witch of the west. She darted into the door and locked it quickly, squealing in excitement.

"Uh, oh," Inu Yasha said as he got up and went to the door. He tried to open it and found it locked. "Hey, Mayu, unlock the door," he said as he yanked on it again.

She giggled and darted over to the window, and began making faces at him through the glass.

Inu Yasha pounded on the door. "KAGOME!!!" he yelled as his pounding fist shook the door.

The older girl sat in her bedroom, oblivious to the on goings of the front room. The music drifted out into the hallway, drowning them out.

Mayu snickered and shook her butt at Inu Yasha.

Inu Yasha growled and kicked the door and stomped down the steps and walking over to Kagome's window. He raised a hand and knocked hard on the glass.

Kagome lifted her head, her raven tresses tumbling down her back as she kept playing her guitar. Suddenly, her eyes fell on the window and a very angry looking Inu Yasha out side. She yelped and dropped the guitar. Calming herself she smoothed her nightshirt, then walked over to the window, lifting it and peering down at him.

"And what do I owe to this midday visit, O Romeo?" She smirked at him, leaning forward on the window sill, her hair falling over chest, a wind picking up and making the tips of it tickle his face.

Inu Yasha looked up at her. "Well, Juliet, looks like one of the Capulet's have locked me out of my castle. Can ya get Mayu to unlock the front door, she locked us out."

A small smirk tugged at her lips as she glanced over her shoulder towards the door. "I know not if I am able to do your bidding. I am not supposed to be over exerting myself, due to my war wound I received."

Inu Yasha scowled and clenched his hands into fists. "Kagome....open the door…" he said through clenched teeth.

She shot him a glare and slammed the window down, storming out of her room.

"She acts like a fucking brat." He growled as he walked across the yard and down the drive.

Kouga watched Inu Yasha walk down the road and sighed. "Good God, he is pissed off again," he grumbled.

Mayu sat in the window, scowling as her mother undid her handiwork. The young woman sighed, looking over at the little girl. She leaned over and kissed her forehead.

"Don't mess with Inu Yasha today, Mayu-chan. He's having his boy period."

Mayu wrinkled her nose and giggled. "Ok, under one 'dition."

Kagome smiled slightly. "What's that, sweetie?"

Mayu beamed. "You come out and play a song for us!"

Kagome sweat dropped and nodded. "Ok, Hon... Ermmm... Just... Let me go get dressed at least, would ya?"

The little girl squealed and beamed. She leapt up and squeezed her mommy around the neck, then bolted out the front door and down the drive before Velcro-ing herself to Inu Yasha, squealing the whole time.

Inu Yasha looked down at Mayu. "Go back and play with the others, I need to take a walk."

Mayu pouted up at him with big watery eyes. "But Mommy is going to play for us!" she protested.

He sighed. "Well, you go and listen to her play, I need to go and be alone for awhile." Inu Yasha pried the girl off his leg and ruffled her hair as he started back to walking. "You go back to your mother, Mayu."

She looked after him with a heartbroken and breaking look on her face, before turning around and walked back to the others her head down, and dragging her feet.

Inu Yasha walked down the road listening to the sounds of the birds and enjoying the sun.

Kouga looked at Mayu and frowned. "Mayu, what's wrong there, doll face?" he asked as he motioned for her to come to him.

The little girl shrugged and plopped down by him in the dirt and glanced up at the house, waiting for her mother to emerge from the house. "I dunno..." she muttered.

Kouga looked down at her and sighed. "Inu will be back once he cools off."

She scowled and stared out at the woods. "I don't care if he does or not."

Kouga blinked. "Why do you say that?"

She shrugged again, her soft black blue hair tumbling over her shoulder and hiding her face.

Kouga sat back and closed his eyes, he knew this was going to be a long day.

Kagome shut the door quietly, alerting to no one that she was outside. Her hair had finally been brushed and tied back into a loose ponytail and she wore a baggy white t-shirt and a pair of jeans that she had just grabbed off of the top of the dryer, assuming they were Kouga's or Inu Yasha's.

Souta and Shippou sat down next to Kouga as he opened his eyes."Nice to see you up and about, Kagome," he said.

She smiled slightly and scratched the back of her head. "Eh-heh... yea. And ermmm... the clothes... I just grabbed them off of the dryer." She smiled nervously. "So if they're yours or something, just know that I'll wash them."

Mayu still didn't look up from where she sat.

Kouga laughed. "Don't worry their Inu Yasha's."

She grumbled slightly and plopped down on the ground in front of him. "Great, one more thing for him to bitch about when he gets back," she muttered under her breath.

She brushed her hair out of her eyes and smiled down at her little depressed looking girl, a frown twitching at the corners of her mouth. "Ok, Mayu-chan, what do you want me to play."

The miniature Kagome shrugged.

Kouga frowned. "Why can't you two stop acting like kids and get along?"

Kagome ignored Kouga's comment and picked at the strings of her guitar, still watching Mayu, and trying to think of a song that would cheer the girl up.

Kouga got up from his chair, apparently aggravated, and started to walk down the drive. "I'm going after Inu Yasha."

Mayu stood up suddenly, and stormed back up to the house, motioning for Shippou and Souta to follow her.

Shippou and Souta got up and followed her into the house as Kouga ran and caught up with Inu Yasha.

Kagome twitched as she was left by herself. A long day... Pfft... fuck that... this day wasn't going to end. She struck a sour note, and then slapped her hand over the strings of the guitar to stop the noise. She took off up the steps of the house to go put the guitar away and grab the kids.

Inu Yasha turned to look back at Kouga. "What are you doing here?"

Kouga panted trying to catch his breath. "What....is...with...you ...and ....Kagome?"

He growled. "Well, one, she is a pain, and two, she needs to grow up."

Kouga grabbed Inu Yasha by the arm and started leading him back towards home. "Like you're one to talk about acting adult, Inu Yasha," Kouga said as he dragged him back home.

Inu Yasha glared holes in the back of his head. "I would swear you were on her side, Kouga," he growled out.

Kagome walked back out of her bed room a few moments later and looked at the kids. She smiled and glanced at the clock. "Ok, who wants to ditch the two grumps and go get McDonalds?" she asked cheerfully.

Souta shook his head. "I want Yasha to go, so I ain't moving until he comes back." Shippou nodded in agreement with his brother.

Kagome sighed and slumped to the couch and looked at the kids. "Do you think I'm being too mean to him too?" she asked quietly.

Silently, Mayu nodded a little bit.

Souta and Shippou nodded too. "I don't think you like Yasha," Souta said with a frown on his face, "You're really mean to him."

The older girl sighed and looked down to her hands clasped in her lap. "I'm sorry guys. I promise I'll try to be nicer to him." She peered up at the three children. "Can you forgive me?"

Shippou nodded but Souta sat there in silence.

Kouga and Inu Yasha walked into the house, both looking like they had been arguing.

Kagome watched Souta for a bit more then dropped her eyes to her lap, not getting an answer from Mayu either. She stood up and went into the kitchen and started cleaning up the place.

Mayu sat on the floor in front of the couch, staring at her knees.

Inu Yasha walked to his bedroom and closed the door as Kouga walked down the hall to gather some of his things into his back pack.

Kagome paused then looked up at Kouga, following him quietly. She stopped a few feet away from him and watched him. "Do you need any help?"

He shook his head silently as he packed his clothes. "No thanks, I can handle it," Kouga said quietly.

She placed her hand gently on his arm and looked at his face. "Kouga..."

He zipped up his bag. "What is it, Kagome?"

Stepping forward, she wrapped him in a tight hug. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

Kouga blinked for a moment. "Sorry for what?"

She pulled back and looked down. "A lot of things... but mainly for treating you as I did after you told me about...." she trailed of as a sob threatened to choke her.

He patted her on the back. "It's ok. Shhh… don't cry."

Kagome brought arm up and wiped her eyes. "Heh, yea," she laughed slightly and looked up at him. "I'll try and get along with Inu Yasha better, I promise... I'm making the kids miserable the way things are going now..." She forced her smile to get bigger. "He should fire me; I haven't been doing my job at all."

Kouga laughed. "Don't worry, Inu Yasha isn't an easy person to get along with."

She nodded towards his bag. "So I can see." A frown danced across her face. "Is everything going to be ok?"

He raised a brow and shrugged. "I guess so, I'm just gonna go home for awhile."

A sigh of relief erupted from her lips and she smiled. "Well, if you need a house cleaner or someone to break a stitch and bleed on your white satin sheets; Gimme a ring," she laughed.

He smiled as he turned and walked down the hall. "My maid might get mad at that."

She arched a brow and whistled low. "Well, hey, hey, hey, if you got it, flaunt it!"

"Hell, yeah," Kouga laughed as he patted the kids on the head. "You guys and little lady, be good, ok?"

Mayu nodded. "Bye, Wolfy," she murmured.

Kagome waved to Kouga. "Bye, ghetto booty!" she smirked, teasing.

"Bye, Kouga," Souta said with a pout.

Shippou waved. "Bye, bye."

Kouga turned and walked towards the door and then looked back down the hall. "Tell Inu Yasha, bye." With that, he bounded of the porch and ran down to his bike.

Kagome turned toward the door and took a deep breath. "Into the lion's den," she muttered, inching the door open slowly.
