After the presents had all been opened and the kids crashed out in their room , all the adults set out to cleaning up the mess that was made. Sango picked up the toys the kids had received and put them on the shelf. "Looks like the kids got Toys R' Us for Christmas," she said with a giggle.

Miroku walked around with a trash bag picking up all the wrapping paper and boxes the toys came out of. "Yeah, looks like it." he said as he shoved the paper into the bag. "Clean up might take awhile."

Inu Yasha sighed as he stood at the sink washing dishes. "How the hell did I get stuck washing dishes any how?"

Everyone laughed. "Punishment for running off and scaring everyone to death." Sango retorted. Inu snorted and continued doing the dishes. Kouga wrapped up all the leftovers from dinner and put them in the fridge for tomorrow. Inu Yasha glanced over at Kagome who was sitting in the floor playing the kids new video game system.

"And what are you suppose to be helping with Kags?" He asked in an irritated tone.

"Hey I fixed dinner, so I deserve a break, so bite me." She said with her eyes glued to the TV screen.

Inu rolled his eyes as he finished up the last dish "Well I'm done and I'm going to bed." He threw the towel on the counter and stretched as he walked down the hall to his room. "Good night all."

Miroku tied up the bag of trash he gathered "Night Inu." He said as he threw the bag of trash out the back door.

Kagome glanced back at the retreating boy and sighed as she turned off the system. Kouga smiled as he slipped his way down the hall after Inu Yasha.

The younger man didn't hear the door open as he pulled off his shirt and threw it on the floor. Kouga closed the door as quietly as he but the squeaking of the hinges startled Inu Yasha, and the next thing Kouga knew Inu had him by the throat. The older man clutched at Inu's hand as his mouth gaped open and shut like a fish out of water as he tried to find the air to speak.

Inu's eyes narrowed as he dropped Kouga onto his ass. "I don't like for people to sneak up on me." Blue eyes went wide as the older man began to have a coughing fit as the air rushed into his lungs. The boy sighed. "Listen, I'm sorry ..I didn't mean to hurt you. Are you going to be ok Kouga?" he asked as he knelt down in front of the man.

"What the hell happened to you Inu Yasha?" Kouga asked as he rubbed his neck.

Inu Yasha looked him square in the eyes. "To be honest, Kouga, you don't want to know..."He said as he stood up and moved over to the bed "It might be safer for you to sleep on the futon tonight...I don't want to hurt you if I get startled again."

Kouga stood up on wobbly legs as he nodded with a hurt expression on his face. "Yeah…might be a good idea. I will see you in the morning, Inu Yasha, Good night." He said as he opened the door and left his lover's room in a rush.

Inu sat on the bed and ran a hand over his face as he sighed sadly
. " I didn't mean tooI'm sorry..." he whispered to no one but himself.

Kouga stood in the hall digging out some spare blankets and pillows when Sango and Miroku walked by going towards the guest room.

"Inu cold, Kouga? He's not sick is he?" Sango asked. The man merely shook his head no and walked towards the living room with his bedding in tow. Miroku and Sango looked at each other in surprise.

"Something's not right," Miroku whispered into Sango's ear .

"No shit, Sherlock."Sango muttered "What was the first clue? Kouga looking heart broken ,or him sleeping on the couch?"

Miroku sighed "This shit between them needs to stop its giving me a headache and I need a damn cigarette!"he snapped a little to loudly.

"Shhhhh! Keep your voice down!" Sango scolded quietly and pulled him into their room "Lets get to bed and we will worry about it tomorrow, ok?"

Miroku nodded as he followed her "Sounds good to me."

Kagome walked out of the kids
' room after checking on them and saw Kouga folding out the futon. "What are you doing, Kouga?" She asked watching him.

"I'm sleeping on the couch what does it look like?" he flopped down onto the fold out mattress. "Turn out the light as you leave, please."
"Do you want to talk about it?" She asked as she flipped out the light.

"No." Kouga responded curtly. "Now, good night." He said as he turned his back to her.

Kagome walked quietly to her room but paused at the door and looked over at Inu Yasha's door and then moved over to it and knocked quietly. Inu Yasha got up from the bed and opened the door and found Kagome standing there.

"I know it's none of my business, but why is Kouga sleeping on the couch and not with you?" She asked quietly as she looked into his dark eyes.

Inu Yasha sighed. "It's a long story and I would rather not get into it right now."

Kagome nodded. "Alright, then we will drop it until morning, ok?"

He frowned. "I will talk about it when ever I feel like it, I am not gonna be pressure into doing anything." He snapped out at her.

Kagome's eye widened at the wild look in the boy's eyes and took a step back "Ok Inu Yasha...it's ok...."

Inu Yasha took a step towards her. "Kagome...I'm sorry I didn't mean to snap like that."

The girl turned around so her back faced him. "Hey, I said it was ok. Get some sleep and it will be forgotten by the morning," Kagome said as she walked into her room.

"Good night, Kagome." he whispered as he backed up into his room and closed the door. He sat back down on the bed and buried his face in his hands. "Good God, what's wrong with me?" he asked himself as he began to shake.

A few moments and his cell phone rang.
His eyes opened and grabbed the phone off his dresser next to the bed and flipped it open. "Hello?" Inu Yasha said quietly.
A deep voice rang through the speaker into his ear. "Did you think you could get away from me so easily Inu Yasha?" the man asked.

Dark eyes went wide as his heart felt as if it was going to pound out of his chest.

"I know where you are, you know. I knew you would run back to your little dysfunctional family once you got the chance."

Inu's grip tightened onto his red flip cell. " Leave me the hell alone, I quit, remember? Besides you earned enough money off of me. So leave me alone!" He snapped.

"Now, now puppy no need to bare fangs at the master. You know I can't let you go, you know too much about our little organization." the man replied.

Inu's eyes narrowed ' Puppy...how does he know the nick name Mayu calls me?' He thought to himself. Then it dawned on him. "You've been watching me" he said quietly into the phone. Everything went silent for a moment and then Inu Yasha spoke again. "Answer me, Jin!" He demanded.

A laugh reverberated through the phone and into Inu's ear. "You know me all to well, puppy."

Inu growled " I gave you my word before I left that I would take your secrets to my grave and I meant it."

Jin sighed in aggravation. "That you will, Inu, that you will, but I would rather have you working for me, instead of having your blood and the blood of innocent children on my hands."

Inu felt his stomach tie in knots to the point that he thought he was going to be sick.

"You will be my point man or the kids get it. Do you understand me Inu?" Jin asked, though it was not really a question."I will allow you to stay with your little family and pay you a small fortune but you have to work for me."

Inu Yasha swallowed the knot that was in his throat "You promise not to hurt anyone I am close to if I work for you again? Promise me you won't."
Jin laughed. "Of course, puppy, I wouldn't go back on my word. Meet me down town tomorrow at the run down movie theatre in the old part of town and I will give you further instructions from there."

Inu sighed "What time?"

Jin thought for a minute before answering. "Lets say around six in the evening. Don't want to take you away from your family for to long they might worry."

The boy sighed. "Alright, Jin, I will be there."

"Don't be late, Inu, I don't like tardiness." With that Jin hung up his phone.

Inu looked at his cell as the dial tone rang out the speaker. He folded it up and placed it back on the dresser and did one thing he said he would never do since Kikyou died he got on his knees and prayed.
