InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Familiar ❯ That Mysterious Stranger ( Chapter 1 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Something wasn't right. For the past few weeks,
Kagome had felt as if she was being watched. No matter
where she went, she just couldn't shake the uneasy feeling of
someone's eyes upon her. She had tried telling her friends,
but they had thought she was coming down with some
new fever, and dismissed it at once. Though the feeling
showed no signs of leaving, Kagome decided to try and
ignore it. Little did she know, ignoring it was only going to
make it worse.
-Just my luck- Kagome sighed heavily as she pulled on
her brown school shoes. “Bye, Mom!” She called, grabbing an
umbrella and hurrying outside.
The plip-plop of her shoes on the wet cement blending
with the drip-drop of the cold rain on her umbrella made a
nice harmonious rhythm as Kagome strolled down the
sidewalk and to the vacant street corner. -That's odd…Ai is usually
waiting for me by now- Kagome looked up and down the
street, searching for Ai. -Oh well…- She glanced at her
watch: 7:10.-I better get going; I'm gonna be late! I hope Ai
isn't sick!- As she began to run down the slick sidewalk, her
umbrella waving too and fro above her head, that all-to-
familiar sensation of being watched made her halt. As she
did so, she slipped and fell backwards, the umbrella sailing
out of her reach.
“You really should be more careful. Don't you know?
You're not supposed to run over slick surfaces…You'll get
hurt.” A strong arm wrapped around Kagome's waist,
catching her inches from the ground. As the arm pulled her
up straight, she found herself eye level with a complete
stranger. -That's weird…I sware I've heard that voice
somewhere before; …Wow- Kagome's eyes widened as she
stared up at a boy not too much older than herself,
definitely still in high school. He had longish black hair that
fell heavily over one of his eyes, which were a deep golden
hue. He stood about a foot taller than Kagome, and wore
black jeans, a white button up shirt, and leather jacket. The
shirt was open until about the fifth button, revealing his
bare, muscular chest. “Hi.” He smiled, and Kagome realized
he was still holding her. Oddly enough, she didn't pull away.
Now without her umbrella, the cold rain fell brutally
upon her like frozen stabbing knives, and as if it was a reflex,
she pulled herself against his chest for warmth. She couldn't
help but close her eyes and enjoy the soothing heat radiating
off his body. She then realized that he had draped his
large black leather jacket around her shoulders to keep her
warm. `Thanks” she managed, opening her eyes and looking up
at him, blushing. His smile seemed full of satisfaction as he
gently pushed her back against the wooden gate lining the
left side of the sidewalk, his other arm wrapping around her
with ease. -Wait...what am I doing?! I don't even know this
guy! But, he seems so familiar…- Kagome felt herself slipping
into some sort of daze, but welcomed it, melting into his
deep golden eyes. Se could feel the warmth of his breath
dangerously close to her lips, inches away, as he leaned in
towards her. -Those eyes; I could get lost in them forever;
What a beautiful golden tint…Golden- Suddenly she snapped
back to reality with one thought-Inuyasha!- She pulled away
from the mysterious man and dashed down the street as fast
as her legs could carry her. -Oh my god! How could I forget?
Inuyasha!-
For the past two weeks, Kagome had been so involved
in finding her “stalker” that she had never gone to visit
Inuyasha! Suddenly she realized how much she had missed
him and all the others and stopped running. She would go
back to the well; Inuyasha was sure to believe her about the
stalker. - That guy…- She turned abruptly only to find
that he was no longer there at the fence. She hadn't heard
footsteps. He wasn't trying to follow her…-Where did he go?-
She shook her head to clear the image of that man form her
mind. -Forget school today! I've gotta see Inuyasha!-
