InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ Fate ❯ The precipice ( Chapter 2 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Kagome fought against the searing pain spreading through her body for as long as she possibly could, but she was unable to hold back the tide as it washed through her. In the end she lost the war within herself. She felt as her mind sank into the black abyss that awaited her and the pain could not be felt any longer. It was almost a relief. Almost.

Inuyasha sliced through the repulsive appendage that had skewered his Kagome. He pulled the girl against him and moved quickly to where Sango was. His ruby gaze caught that of the demon-slayer. She nodded her head understanding what he had been trying to tell her. Inuyasha gazed down at the most precious thing in his life. She was pale from blood loss and the hole in her chest was large as the blood flowed freely. The anger welled up anew. He would kill that bastard if it was the last thing he did.

Sango watched as the hanyou laid her friend on the ground gently. It was now her job to protect her friend and she shuddered to think what would happen should she fail. It was a good thing then, that she had no intention of doing so.

Miroku dispersed of his adversary as quickly as he could. He then moved to the side of his beloved Sango. He would help her to protect their dying friend from the vile filth they were fighting. His violet gaze trailed after Inuyasha as he assaulted Naraku. Unlike most times when he had let his demonic blood rule, his movements were calculated and obviously preplanned. Miroku realized it now. The moment Naraku had touched Kagome he had sealed his fate. He didn't have a snowball's chance in hell.

Kikyo cursed under her breath. How had things gone so wrong? Naraku was on the brink of death, and the army was nearly defeated, thanks in most part to the wolves. Damn it. There was no hope for victory any longer. She would not get her revenge this day. Not now, not ever. Stupid, filthy half-breeds they were far too impulsive and they weren't good for anything. They could spoil the best plans.

Kagura couldn't even see Inuyasha any more. He was moving to fast. She would sometimes catch a red blur, but that was it. Naraku was now bleeding heavily from numerous wounds and Kagura reveled in the thought that his end was drawing closer and closer. It was only a matter of minutes now. It would not take the enraged Inuyasha long to dispose of her master. Not with the help of the stoic Taiyoukai.

Sesshomaru was shocked, not that it showed, the way his half-brother was moving was enough to rival his own prowess on the battlefield. Perhaps he was not as weak as once thought. Sesshomaru redoubled his efforts on killing the vermin before him. He was not to be outdone by a hanyou.

Koga shot Ayame a wicked grin. He had just succeeded in beating her in something. Victory was sweet. He had disposed of 45 demons to her 43. Oh yeah. He was damn good. He sobered quickly though realizing that the fight was far from over. It would not be finished until that dirty bastard had been obliterated from this world, and maybe even the next.

Ayame rolled her eyes. What an egotistical ass. She would have to teach him his place later. Right now though, there were more important matters. Like the death of the greatest evil Japan had ever seen. That definitely took precedence over Koga's punishment. That would just have to wait until later when they were alone. She returned his wicked smirk. Oh yes victory was going to be so sweet.
