Sesshomaru looks over the lands he has ruled for generations. The gentle breeze riffles his silver strands. For Sesshomaru time means nothing. He looks down across the modern towns and cities below him, his golden eyes take note of the changes that he's witnessed. Towering buildings reach higher than some of the mountains he played on as a youth. 'But they'll never reach the grandeur of my own castle, which very few human.. or half human.. eyes have ever seen', Sesshomaru boasts proudly. This thought turns his memories back. To a time that seems so long ago. To the half human that was the crux of most of his youthful angst and battles. A distant roar high in the clouds, hardly noticed by the bustling millions below, reaches Sesshomaru's ears. He looks up at the speeding sliver in the sky. The jet hurries along on its route, oblivious to his watchful golden eyes. For a moment, in his meandering thoughts, Sesshomaru chuckles. Remembering the first time he'd witnessed the great flying 'beast' soaring over his head. 'Birds don't roar so', was his wary thought, 'It must be an attacking demon'. He'd tried to catch that one, but it sped along just out of his reach. He'd chased many others until he grew to learn that these were harmless human movers. Sesshomaru's memories return to Inuyasha who turned out to be so wise. Remembers the firey halfbreed chiding him in his brash manner about catching them, 'They're filled with humans, ya lunkhead! You have to leave them alone!' So Sesshomaru listened, one of the rare occassions he lowered himself to do so. Sesshomaru tears his eyes away from the fleeing plane. He turns his face into the breeze that updrafts from the world far below him. Nostrils wide, searching for a scent. Most old acquaintances have gone on. Demon allies, humans that fought him, that learned to understand him. The half human brother that lived at his side longer than most, that finally succombed to his own human mortality. Sesshomaru's eyes turn toward the remnant of forest, that once bore Inuyasha's name. His regenerated hand sets upon the hilt of a sword of it's own accord. The mighty sword that is now forever more in his care. Then, there is the scent! When the wind shifts to blow from the North. Sesshomaru turns toward the mountain range. Perched on the edge of his own territory, the last of his allies. They'd made peace when the Wolf took his rightful place as the Lord of the North. Kouga lifts his head to give a long howl, carried away on the variant breeze. Sesshomaru's sharp ears catch the sound. He turns golden eyes once more to scan over changing lands. Then, with a mighty leap, Sesshomaru gives chase to the only demon companion that remains. The two demons soar, dodge, and chase over unsuspecting millions below. Those whose eyes will never witness those that have watched their every change.
