Fight For First

Chapter 1

"Oh yeah. Another tournament won by me, Inuyasha Shinomori. That's 5 in a row now," Inuyasha gloated as her held the gold trophy he had just won.

Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's half brother, ignored him. They both knew that if Sesshomaru hadn't permanently sprained his wrist in a rowdy game of football years ago, Inuyasha would not have been the winner of the annual martial arts tournament for 5 years in a row; Sesshomaru would be holding the trophy now.

"Shut up, Inuyasha."

"Make me."

"Oh I will someday…"

"Damn that murderer," Kagome Higurashi screamed as she turned off the TV after watching Inuyasha win yet another martial arts tournament. "I sill enter that tournament, fight Inuyasha, defeat him, and kill him like he did to my father if it's the last thing I do."

~Flashback: 5 years ago~

There was a thump and a crash on the Higurashi shrine door as someone outside struggled to fit the key into its hole. Kagome ran to the door, knowing that it was her father coming back from the first martial arts tournament that he had lost in his life, and opened the door to find her father on the ground, barely conscious. He looked like he was drowning with a red puddle by his feet as his legs gave out and he slipped in the thick red liquid. Blood. It was blood. Her father's blood. He was dying and there was nothing she could do.

"Daddy, what happened?" a ten-years-old Kagome sobbed as she tried to drag her dad into the shrine.

"I… I was injured in the fight and on my way home… he took the advantage and ambushed me. I managed to escape but it looks like I won't make it," Kagome's dad managed before he drew his last breath.

"Daddy, no… don't leave me," Kagome cried, "It's not fair. You didn't even get to see Mom and Sota one last time."

Kagome lived on with her mom and little brother, Sota, training every moment she could with only one thought in mind, revenge on Inuyasha.

~End Flashback~

Sesshomaru was getting very annoyed with all the bragging and gloating Inuyasha had been doing. He decided that it was time for a change. Time for a new champion of martial arts. Time for Inuyasha to stop his bragging. Sesshomaru decided to call the former champion, Higurashi's, son who probably wants revenge on Inuyasha for defeating his father.

BRIIIINNNNNNGGGGGG! BRIIIINNNNNGGGGGG~ "Kagome, answer the phone," Kagome's mom ordered. Kagome reluctantly picked up the phone because she had been in the middle of one of her sword dances when the phone rang.

"Hello?" Kagome asked.

"Hi. This is Sesshomaru, Inuyasha's half brother," Sesshomaru said.

"What do you want?"

""I wish to talk to Sota."

"Sota's in the bathroom so tell me what you have to say. I'll tell Sota when he comes out."

"Does Sota want to enter the next martial arts tournament to get revenge for his father?"

"Revenge?!" Kagome suddenly became attentive.

"Yes, revenge."

"I'll go in Sota's place. I am Kagome Higurashi, Sota's older sister. I am more skilled than Sota."

"Very well," Sesshomaru said, thinking of Inuyasha's face when a woman defeats him.

"But why would you help us avenge our father against your brother?"

"He is getting too arrogant and cocky for his own good and it's getting very annoying. I want to wipe that smirk off his face."

"Acceptable."

"Okay. I will send a professional teacher to coach you everyday. You will also come to our mansion a week before the tournament so you can observe Inuyasha's strengths and weaknesses. I will find some way to force Inuyasha to spend a week with you."

"Okay," Kagome said, not really paying attention with all her thoughts of revenge in her head.

"Good bye."

"Bye."

They both hung up.

So for the next 357 days, Kagome trained like never before; day in and day out, sometimes getting only a couple of hours of sleep.

~Day 358~

RIIINNNNGGGG!!! Kagome slammed her fist into the alarm clock, successfully breaking her 358th alarm clock that year. "I'll have to buy a new one later," Kagome mumbled to herself as she yawned.

In the next 10 minutes, Kagome somehow managed to shower, change, eat breakfast and walk to school.

As soon as Kagome walked into view of her school, her friends, Eri, Yuka, and Ayumi came stampeding.

"Hey Kagome! Did you hear the news? The #1 bachelor in Japan, Inuyasha, held a contest. The winner gets to spend a week with him in his mansion by the beach!" Eri exclaimed.

"So?"

"So? A week with the Inuyasha and you're saying `so?'! And they're announcing the winner in 5 minutes on television live! Come on! What are we waiting for? Let's go!" Yuka said, all in one breath. The 3 girls dragged Kagome to their classroom and begged the teacher to let them see who the winner is. The teacher agreed, having entered the contest herself. The TV went on.

"Hey people! I am Miroku and this lovely young lady here is Sango. (points to Sango who is next to him) Anyways, the lucky winner for the contest that our very own Inuyasha has held is… ah the suspense!" Miroku said.

"Miroku!" Sango scolded, "just tell them who the winner is already."

"Yes M'am. The winner is… Kagome Higurashi! She is a high school student attending god-knows-which-school. Anyways, Kagome stay put because a limo is on its way to retrieve you…"

The teacher turned off the TV in surprise. Eri, Yuka, and Ayami were shocked beyond words.

"How could I be the winner? It must be another Kagome Higurashi. I mean, I didn't even know about the contest, much less entered it," Kagome said, breaking the silence. Suddenly the room erupted with sound. Everyone was talking at the same time.

A couple of minutes later, a limo arrived at the front of the school. Sesshomaru stepped out. Kagome was just about to say something along the lines of, "I didn't enter the contest so how could I be the winner?" when the man with silver hair and features intriguingly similar to Inuyasha's spoke, "I am Sesshomaru. Where is Kagome?"

Then it clicked. Of course! Sesshomaru mentioned something about visiting Inuyasha to observe his strengths and weaknesses on the phone around 350 days ago. This must be what he was talking about! She couldn't give up a chance to observe her opponent's weaknesses.

"I am Kagome Higurashi, the winner of the contest," Kagome said.

The other students started complaining and Ayumi asked, "Didn't you say that you didn't enter the contest?"

"I, um, forgot that I entered this contest," Kagome said lamely.

"Enough talking. Get in the limo," Sesshomaru interrupted.

Sesshomaru was already in the limo. Kagome climbed in and sat across from him.

After a few minutes of silent driving, Kagome remembered something and said, "Hey, what about my family? I didn't tell them that I was going to the oh-so-famous son of a bitch's house. And I have to pack!"

"Don't worry. I called your family but apparently, they watched the news and already knew it. And about your stuff, we provide everything."

"Oh Kikyo," Inuyasha moaned as Kikyo ran her tongue across his bare chest. Kikyo was currently Inuyasha's "flavor of the week."

Inuyasha was half lying half sitting on a beach chair, facing his private part of the beach, in his swimsuit. Kikyo was draped across him in a very small bikini that didn't cover much.

"Inuyasha! This is not the time. The girl who won the contest is coming any minute now. You can't be seen like this, what will your fans say when the girl comes and sees you like this? You have to stay with her for the whole week! And you there, go home!" Sango said impatiently as she pointed to Kikyo.

Kikyo kissed Inuyasha one last time as she left, dropping her car keys in the sand next to Inuyasha accidentally on purpose.

After Kikyo was out of sight, Sango said, "And remember, no hitting on her. She is off limits."

"And why did we hold that stupid contest in the first place?" Inuyasha demanded.

"I don't know. Ask Sesshomaru, it was his idea."

The gates opened, signaling that Sesshomaru had arrived with the girl.

Kagome walked towards the beach, looking around. Her eyes narrowed
Dangerously when she saw Inuyasha.

Sesshomaru sprang into the introduction. "Inuyasha, this is Kagome
Higurashi, the winner of the contest. She will be staying with us for a week. And
You, Inuyasha, will be a gentleman."

"Why did we have this contest in the first place?" Inuyasha whined.

"I don't know, for publicity's sake?" Sesshomaru shrugged.

Just then, Kikyo decided to make her entrance. "I left my car keys here somewhere." She walked up to Inuyasha, kissed him on the lips, and picked up her keys.

Kagome got a good look at her face. "You, Kikyo!?" Kagome exclaimed.
