His breathing was coming to him labored, his legs ached from all the running. Pausing for a brief moment he looked to the stary sky. A single tear slipped down his cheek, hearing a twig snap he took off running again. He heard the laughter of the demons chasing him and he quickened his pace. 'Shouldn't have stopped, should've kept running' he thought as he forced his burning mucles to continue working.

He busted through the tree line, not looking back, and quickly glanced to either side looking for a place to hide. Seeing none he stopped, sighing, 'I can't keep running like this, they are going to kill me either way. Might as well go down fighting.' Slowly he made his small frame turn and face the direction he had just come from.

His body trembled slightly from fear, he was a long way away from home and was lost. Now he had demons and humans alike hunting him down just because he was different. 'If mother was alive this wouldn't be happening.' Another tear rolled down his face, then another. He looked to his hands, clenching his fists drawing blood with his claws. He heard the two demons that had been following him getting closer. He looked up and came face to face with a snake demon.

"Look what we have here, a filthy hanyou. I sssay we kill him." the snake demon hissed.

The second snake demon laughed, "Yesss, brother, letsss do that."

Inu Yasha's fear and sadnes was consumed by hatred and anger, he was tired of being hunted down, he was tired of running. "Fine, you want to fight? Let's do it then." He flexed his small clawed hands and smirked at the two snake demons in front of him.

They laughed at him as the first of the two went to strike, hitting Inu Yasha in the side.

Inu Yasha hit the ground, crimson fluid flowing from the side that had been bit. He growled, getting back up he lunged at the snake demon that had just attacked him.

~{Got to fight another fight - I gotta run another night
Get it out - check it out
I'm on my way and I don't feel right
I gotta get me back - I can't be beat and that's a fact
It's OK - I'll find a way
You ain't gonna take me down no way}~

Inu Yasha made contact with the demon, gouging it down the length of it's body. He watched as it fell to the ground, writhing in pain. He heard the second snake demon hiss, turning he saw it's eyes go red. With his back turned to the first one he never saw it get back up and prepare to attack him again. He felt a searing pain in his shoulder, the second attacked at the very moment the first had bit into his shoulder. It bit into his leg, picked him up and shook him like a rag doll.

Seeing his only chance, he plunged his claws deep into the second demon's eye. Instantly he felt himself falling, he heard the demon he had just struck howl in pain. He hit the ground hard, rolling to his feet he stood back up and faced the first snake demon. This time he kept an eye on the second, who was still lying on the ground with it's tail covering the injured eye. "Keh, I won't be taken as easily as you thought it seems."

The first demon attacked again. Inu Yasha anticipated it's move and dodge it just barely, catching it with his claws as he stepped to the side. Both snake demons were badly injured, and the first slithered over to it's brother. With each other's help they fled from the field, away from the hanyou they had underestimated.

~{Don't judge a thing until you know what's inside it
Don't push me - I'll fight it
Never gonna give in - never gonna give it up no
If you can't catch a wave then your'e never gonna ride
You can't come uninvited
Never gonna give in - never gonna give up no
You can't take me I'm free}~

Inu Yasha let out a breath of relief, slowly he started walking in the direction opposite the two demons had gone. He stumbled, falling to the ground, his world spinning he forced himself to stand back up. He continued walking, falling every few steps, the blood flowing from his wounds leaving a trail for anyone to find. He didn't know how long he had been walking when he finally came upon a cliff with a shallow cave in it's side. 'Finally, a place I can rest.' As he reached the entrance, he tripped over his own foot and he fell to the ground yet again. Not even bothering to stand again, he crawled into the comfort of the cave. No sooner did he enter the cave, he fell into the dark oblivion of unconsciousness.

He could smell the hanyou's blood from miles away, he smiled. After days of tracking the little bastard he had finally picked up his trail. He focused his eyes to catch a glistening wetness in the grass. 'That has to be his blood, he must be badly injured.' He decended from the clouds, his feet touched the ground without a sound. He followed the trail of crimson liquid at a leisurely pace, not in any real hurry to find the being he thought to be pathetic. Coming up on the mouth of the cave the smell of the blood got stronger. He peered into the darkness and saw the small crumpled heap just barely inside, a pool of the being's blood staining the silver hair.

Inu Yasha came to feeling something was wrong. As his eyes adjusted to their surroundings he could tell he was no longer in the small cave he had passed out in. The smell of stale water and decay assaulted his sensitive nose. He stood, his legs feeling weak from all that had happened. He could make out a small framed door just to his right. Taking off running for the door he felt a pull at his wrist half way there. It pulled him back and he fell flat on his back. He looked to his wrist and a low growl escaped his throat when he saw a chain binding him to a wall attached to it.

~{Why did it all go wrong? - I wanna know what's going on
And what's this holding me?
I'm not where I supposed to be}~

He had been pulling at the chain for hours it had seemed when he heard the door unlock and slowly open. A look of pure hatred spread across his face when he saw who entered the room. "Sesshomaru." Inu Yasha growled at his brother's smile.

Sesshomaru stepped into the small room, his nose wrinkled slightly from the smell of the cell. He threw the tray of rotten and stale food down at his half brother's feet. "Inu Yasha, I figured you would know better not to run away from home. After all, I have tracked you down each time." He snickered, "Now eat up." He stood there and waited for Inu Yasha to start eating.

He looked to the tray that had just been thrown at him. The green colored heap, he could only assume was meat, had fallen off onto the floor. The bread had mold growing on it as well. He felt his throat and chest constrict, the tears threating to show themselves once again. Bitting his tongue, he let the pain hide the hurt he felt. 'He is my brother, why does he treat me this way?' He jumped slightly when his brother made a move to enter the room further.

Sesshomaru stepped further into the room when Inu Yasha made no move to eat the food he had given him. "You need a lesson in manners, hanyou." He bent down and picked up one of the green chunks of meat. Then he grabbed Inu Yasha and held him while he mashed the food into his face trying to force feed him. "Open up little brother." he laughed when Inu Yasha started crying.

He could no longer hold back the tears, no matter how hard he bit his tongue they still came. He desprately tried to pull himself away from his brother's grasp, to no avail. His shoulders slumped forward when he realised he wasn't getting away.

Sesshomaru threw Inu Yasha to the ground, frustrated with him for not allowing him to have his fun. "You are as useless as your mother was." He turned and started for the door when he heard his brother growl loudly. Turning, he saw his brother standing with a look that could kill.

What his brother had said had given him the strength he had lost. He felt himself growl without his consent, but smiled when Sesshomaru stopped in his tracks and turned around. "Don't ever talk about my mother, bastard." His feet moved on their own accord and he walked foward till the chain holding him wouldn't allow him to proceed further. "I am getting out of here and you are not going to stop. And I will be damned if I let you bring me back this time."

~{I gotta fight another fight
I gotta fight will all my might
I'm getting out , so check it out
Ya, you're in my way
So you better watch out}~

Inu Yasha pushed himself forward further, pulling at the chain that bound him to the wall. He felt it give a little, and smiled as he pulled some more. His body lunged forward as the chain finally gave and snapped.

Sesshomaru watched the sceene in front of him, shocked at how strong the hanyou was being. When the chain finally broke he flew forward and caught his brother by the throat, slamming him into the wall the chain had been attached to. "Foolish welp, what makes you think I will let you leave."

He felt the poison burning his flesh around his throat, he grabbed his brother's arm and dug his claws in. "I am leaving." he stated matter of factly as he pried his brother's hand off his throat. He felt himself slide down the wall to the floor, "I don't want to fight you, Sesshomaru. But if that is what I have to do to leave, I will."

"You will never leave here alive. Die."

He saw his brother lunge at him yet again, dropping to his knees the attack went right over his head. As Sesshomaru's feet went by, he reached out and clawed them tripping him. The soon to be demon lord fell face first to the ground. Inu Yasha ran up to his brother before he had a chance to get up and clawed him down his back.

Stunned that his brother had gotten a hit off on him, he lost his balance. He felt his nose break as he hit the floor. Then before he had a chance to move he felt his skin rip as Inu Yasha ran his claws up his back. His eyes went red, and he stood facing his brother that was now in between him and the door. He saw the look of determination in Inu Yasha's eyes, and that is when he gained the first sliver of respect for the hanyou. "Leave, but remember this, when you least expect it I will hunt you down and kill you."

Inu Yasha's jaw dropped open, but he took no time turning and running out the door. He didn't want to be around when his brother changed his mind. He stopped off in his mother's room and grabbed the gift that she had given him before she died. He slipped on the red firerat fur and took off out the door.

~{Don't judge a thing until you know what's inside it
Don't push me - I'll fight it
Never gonna give in - never gonna give it up no
If you can't catch a wave then your'e never gonna ride
You can't come uninvited
Never gonna give in - never gonna give up no
You can't take me I'm free}~

Inu Yasha kept running till he could run no more. Finding a small stream he washed the blood and grime from his body and clothes. He took in a deep breath of the fresh air, it replacing the smell from the cell that clung to the insides of his nose. Smilling he felt the tears of joy spill over, "I'm free."
