Animal Instincts

It had been two weeks since Kagome had transformed into a demon. Two weeks since she had woken up to find herself caked in mud and bleeding and bruised, and it had been two weeks since she spoken to or even seen the demon lord. She was sealed in her room; even her new powers could not get her out. She was brought food everyday, along with a change of clothes and a tub of water to clean herself with. She had gone two weeks without talking to someone and without the company of another. That is until Rin miraculously appeared in her room one morning.

Rin, an adorable human girl, so full of life and energy, became her companion. Kagome was still shocked that a little human girl lived with Sesshoumaru and that the same girl professed her love for the demon on a daily basis. She recalled the morning she had first seen the child, patiently sitting on her bed as she waited for the older girl to awake.

Flashback

"Pretty lady is awake! Rin's name is Rin. What is yours?" the girl asked hurriedly.

"Kagome" she had replied, confused and baffled by the child's sudden appearance. "Are you a prisoner here?" she questioned.

"Rin is not a prisoner. Rin loves Sesshoumaru, he saved Rin's life. Rin lives with Sesshoumaru" she replied with a huge smile on her face as she talked about her savoir.

Stunned by the fact that Sesshoumaru had saved a human child, let her live with him and, treated her decently enough to earn her love and devotion, Kagome wondered just how evil the Lord was.

"Rin thinks Kagome is pretty. Can Kagome be Rin's new mother?" she asked expectantly.

Kagome could not help but smile, her first genuine one since being at the castle, at the tiny child who referred to herself in the third person. She was so endearing, she reminded her so much of Shippou. Oh how she missed him, and Sango and Miroku and Kaede. She briefly wondered how they were doing before returning her attention back to the girl at her feet.

"Rin is pretty too" she replied "but I cannot be you new mother however, I can be your friend" she said, giving a bright smile to little girl.

"Yay!" Rin exclaimed

End Flashback

And since that day the girl had come to her room every morning. Since Kagome was still not allowed out of her room, they entertained themselves inside. Kagome styled her hair, dressed her up in the clothes that were brought to her and told her stories of her adventures with her companions, and tales of her own home. She was growing rather fond of the child and found comfort in her presence.

Today, Rin had come into her room, her hair a tangled mess. She had apparently been playing outside with her hair down. The little girl had walked up to her and told her that she could not brush it out, as Kagome had shown her to. Laughing at the child's unruliness, she pulled Rin into her lap as she sat on the bed, and began to brush the girls hair, humming to herself as she worked the brush through the knotted mass.

It was this scene that greeted Sesshoumaru's eyes when he finally decided to make an appearance. For the past few weeks he had been immersed books, trying to find a way to break the bond. What he had discovered had not been pleasing. He had found a journal in which his father had described in detail the swords he would have commissioned for his sons.

The Tetsusagia, to be made from one of my fangs, for my youngest son, a hanyou, Inu Yasha. Let him have a sword powerful enough to protect humans and destroy youkai. For my youngest son holds a part of both within his blood. His life will be one filled with obstacles and hardships for he will never be accepted into either world. Let this sword ease his journey.

The Tenesiga, to also be made from one of fangs, for my oldest son, a full youkai, Sesshoumaru. Let the healing power of the sword show him compassion and melt the ice around his heart. For my oldest son, who has seen too much and grown up too fast. Let this sword ease his heart.

Ease his heart. He still could not believe his father had given him the Tenesiga so that he would learn to love. It was inconceivable. But that was not nearly as disturbing as the last passage his father had written, the last he had written before his death.

If the powerful sword Tetsusagia should lose its master, Inu Yasha, no demon will be able to possess it, only human hands will be able to touch the sword and only a human can be become its master. The human must be female because it is only a woman's compassion and unending ability to love that will allow the sword to continue to serve its purpose; protecting the lives of humans. It is only the giving of her heart that will break her bond. The man or demon who wins her heart will also win the Tetsusagia to protect his mate and her people.

So, it seemed, the only way to possess the Tetsusagia was to possess the woman as well. And that would never happen. He just had to find another way, perhaps he would visit the demon who was commissioned to create the swords, and perhaps he held the key to his dilemma.

His eyes wandering back to the pair on the bed, he watched as the miko brushed his wards hair. He had finally relented to Rin. She had seen him bring the unconscious woman back to the castle after she had tried to escape and had pestered him every day for two weeks to let her visit the "pretty lady." It had certainly kept Rin from annoying him with her constant barrage of questions and endless chatter.

"Rin" he said interrupting the cozy scene. He watched as Rin looked over at him, joy lighting her eyes at the sight of her hero and he watched as the woman looked at him, anger in her eyes. He was slightly amused at the difference in reactions he got from the two females. But he did not have time to be amused. "Go to your room" he said to the small girl, yet never taking his eyes off of the miko.

Although disappointment clearly crossed her face, Rin did not hesitate. She simply got off the bed exclaimed in her usual cheery tone "Hai!" and ran out of the room, leaving the demon lord and the miko alone.

Neither spoke. Kagome sat on the bed, brush still in her hand, as she stared at Sesshoumaru, refusing to back down from hard gaze. He would not intimidate her.

Sesshoumaru strode across the room, stopping when he stood in front of her, contemplating how much he should tell her of the story behind the swords and the nature of her bond to the Tetsusagia, he would, unfortunately, need her help. Even as he opened his mouth to say something, the words on his tongue died as a new scent wafted through the air and reached his nose. The scent caused a violent reaction in his body, she was in the first stages of heat, and he was very aroused. No! He said firmly in his head. He would not lose control; he would not become victim to his urges and desires. He was in control, he always was.

"What do you want Sesshoumaru?" the woman questioned as he fought to reign in the desire that was rapidly setting his body on fire. He leveled his gaze on her face with all the intensity he was feeling and somehow he was able to smell the nervousness that poured out of her through the haze of lust that surrounded him. In an anxious gesture he watched as she wet her lips, her pink tongue darting out of her mouth to run over the fullness of her lips, making them glisten.

In a blind and sudden movement he reached out and grabbed her hands and hauled her against him, his arousal heightening at the touch of her body. He claimed her lips in a violent rush, ignoring the tensing of her body as she protested the contact. Pushing past her lips he tasted her, God she was sweet he thought, as he mindlessly plundered her mouth. A soft whimper slowed his ruthless siege as he felt her body relax and acceptance flow through her body. The realization that she wanted him too made him withdraw from her mouth and soften his kiss. His hands moved into the mass of her hair and hers moved to his shoulders, holding on for support. He pressed soft kisses on her closed lips, apologizing for bruising them. He licked at the seam of lips, asking entrance into the recess of her mouth instead of demanding. When she opened up to him, he felt as if he had been given a gift. He savored her taste, let it sink into him as he deepened the kiss. Someone moaned in pleasure, whether it was her, him, or both of them, it didn't matter. It was the reality he needed to wake him from the trance. He didn't want this, he didn't want her. He had lost control he resolved as he pushed the woman away from him, sending her into the wall with his force. She was breathing hard, her lips were red and bruised from his kiss, and her eyes were filled with a mixture of fear and desire. He barely resisted the urge to rip the clothes from her body and take her and release the violent storm building within him. Taking one last look at her he left the room, just as calmly as he had entered it.

Leaving the castle he flew into the air, needing to kill something, anything, to release the tension in him. Then he saw his chance, a lowly youkai wandering around the edge of his land. As his eyes turned red as he rushed at the unsuspecting demon, and releasing his claws he shredded it, tore it to pieces feeling the blood splatter his face. When he was done he looked down at his hands, drenched in blood, and back to the youkai, whose pieces were strewn across the ground. He had not had such a blindly violent kill since he was child. As the red veil of lust dimmed and his blood stopped boiling he punched his hand through a nearby tree, melting it with his poisonous claws. The violence and rage of the kill had done nothing. He still wanted her; he still ached for her, the woman, the miko, the demon…Kagome.
