InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ For Your Love ❯ One-Shot
Disclaimer: I do not own Inu Yasha or the song "Feel My Love"
A/N: I know, I know, I gotta stop writing these songfics! But, hope is on the way! For the past few weeks I've been writing an actual story! *SHOCK! GASP!* So that oughta be out soon! Happiness!
When the rain's blowing in this place
And the whole world's on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
He loved her. He knew it, everyone but her knew it. He only wished that he could find the words to tell her just how much she meant to him. She would sit there by the fire on those cold nights and stare into the flames. He would sit above her in a tree, keeping watch, and staring at her. She was fascinating to him. A mystery of fire and brilliance.
The evening shadows and stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I would hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
So many times on those long nights, he just wanted to leap down and kiss her, long and hard. To hell with the consequences! If just for one night he could show her the depth of his love without having to worry if she loved him back. One night where he didn't have to cower in fear of her oswari. To be frightened of the words of the one you loved, it was terrible. He couldn't express anything around her without having to worry about her mouth. That mouth that he wanted so badly, but could do him so much damage. She didn't think when she said it. It was just an easy way to get him back for something. She had no idea what that word did to his pride. But still…
I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment we met
There's no doubt my mind where you belong
The instant he saw her by the God tree. While he was still pinned to it by that cursed arrow. The second he saw her, he didn't think Kikyo like she assumed, he had thought, It's her! Then, as soon as he caught her scent, and assumed it was Kikyo, that hopeful, loving feeling was banish, replaced by bitter disappointment and sadness. In that one instant, he had the right idea. This was the girl who could make all his problems and trouble go away. This was the girl for whom he would sacrifice his own life. It was her.
I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
But she didn't know that. She couldn't know that. He had to hide his feelings, otherwise who knows what might happen. And when she left, what would he do then? Would he wallow in self-pity and sadness? Not if he didn't get attached. If he kept himself at a reasonable distance and never let her come to the true conclusion about his love, then he would be safe. Safe from that awful emptiness that gnawed away at his heart and soul. He had already felt that once and he didn't want to feel it again.
The storm's raging on a rolling sea
And down the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain't seen nothing like me yet
She moved slightly in her bedroll. He looked down at her, longing filled his eyes. She was so beautiful, kind and smart. She was perfect. She was also a perfect counterpart to him. Him, with his snide remarks and rude comments, unfeeling and insensitive. Yeah, that was him. Ruthless and terrible. He sighed. He wasn't like that, not really. That was just the side he let her, and the rest of them, see. He was more than what met the eye. He was complex and different. Like nothing that had ever been. He jumped down, out of the tree and crouched next to her sleeping form. He reached out a clawed hand tentatively. Slowly, he stroked her cheek.
There ain't nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of this earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love
She mumbled something in her sleep. "Inn…yasha" Her small soft hand closed around his large rough one. He furrowed his brows. What had she said? Had…had she said his name? Mumbling some more, she rolled over and opened her eyes. Looking down at their joined hands, she whispered, "Inu Yasha, where you watching me?"
"Feh. Why would I watch you girl? Stupid girl, don't think of yourself all the time." Inu Yasha turned his head away. Kagome gave a soft smile. She had seen the tender look on his face before it was covered by that rigid mask of indifference. She gently squeezed his hand. She sat up and gave him a soft kiss on the cheek. Slowly, the rosy dawn sneaked her flaming fingers back into the world. "I'm going to wake everyone."
She walked away and Inu Yasha was left with his thoughts.
