Chapter 7: Into The Den
Kagome sat next to Sango in the van. Sango had a scowl on her face and her arms were folded across her chest. Miroku sat at the wheel, a large red hand print on his face. Inuyasha wasn’t in the van-he would be driving two blocks away form The Den- he would be backup and or second escape route if things went wrong. Next to Miroku sat a bulky muscular man by then name of Riku, his bald crown practically touched the roof of the van.
“Are we almost there Monk!?” Sango growled-clearly still angry about Miroku’s wandering hands.
“Almost there Sango, my pearl of beauty.” Miroku replied turning around to give Sango a wink.
“Watch it Monk!” Sango said lowly, although there was a faint trace of a blush on her cheeks. Kagome couldn’t help but smile at her friend.
The van came to a stop in a dark alley. Miroku unbuckled his seat belt and made his way to the back of the van where the girls were getting ready to leave.
“Not yet ladies.” Miroku smirked as he pulled a out from under one of the seats. Miroku opened the box and pulled out a beautiful ring that had an opal in the center of it. He beckoned for Kagome to come to him and slipped the ring on her finger and gave her a wink.
“Gee Miroku, I never knew you cared.” Kagome said wryly as she examined the ring on her finger. Miroku smirked.
That’s not an ordinary ring my dear, inside that little gem is a communication device that can send and receive messages. So that when you are ready all you have to do is whisper into it and we will come and get you.”
“OOO! So it’s like a walkie talkie! That is so cool!” Kagome gushed. Miroku smiled and shook his head.
“Sango, my love, come here.” Sango lifted an eyebrow and crossed her arms over her chest.
“I’m not going any where near you and your perverted little hands Monk so forget about it.”
“Sango, you have my word that these hands will not wander anywhere you do not want them to, on your body.” Miroku said giving her an innocent I’m-a-monk-what-harm-could-I-do? Smile.
Reluctantly Sango made her way over to Miroku who was kneeling on the floor. He beckoned her towards him and she knelt before him, a slight scowl on her face. Miroku reached into the box again and pulled out a pair of earrings.
“These little beauties will be our eyes-we can see where you are and what you do through these.” He held up a pair of beautiful silver earrings, they were butterflies with diamonds in the wings. Sango held her hand out, but Miroku shook his head stubbornly.
“Allow me.” He said, inching his way closer to Sango who reluctantly let Miroku put the earrings in her ears. They were so close that their noses were almost touching. Their eyes met and locked, and they both became lost in each others gaze. Kagome chose that time to sneak out the van door, a small smile on her lips.
“Sango. . .” Miroku whispered as he let his hands fall to her shoulders.
“Come back to me.” He whispered before his lips met hers in a soul searing kiss. Sango’s eyes widened in shock, and then closed in utter bliss. Miroku broke the kiss and stroked the side of her face lovingly before ushering her out of the van.
“You are two blocks away from The Den, be careful you guys.” He said to the girls before hopping back into the van, closing the door behind him.
“Shall we?” Kagome said walking away from the van. Sango merely nodded a hand on her lips as she stumbled after Kagome.

Kagome came to the familiar warehouse on 76th street. It was a big building, old and worn looking it blended in well with the rest of the neighborhood. Kagome approached the large metal gate outside the warehouse, it was old and rickety, but it served its purpose well. Kagome approached the gate and as if on cue, a deep masculine voice called out of the shadows.
“Who goes there?”
“Jesuki, it’s me, Kagome, I need to talk to Kouga.”
“Right, hold on.” The gate creaked open and Kagome pulled Sango through.
“Jesuki?” Kagome called out meekly, searching the darkness. She was glad she had Sango with her, Jesuki was known for taking advantage of unwilling women. A figure stepped out of the shadows. He was a lean fellow average height with a mop of Sandy blonde hair and dark green eyes. His nose was crooked and his thin mouth was curved into one of his strange smiles.
“Hello Kagome, where have you been?” Jesuki asked, cocking an eyebrow. Kagome feigned an innocent smile.
“Family issues, my aunt Lori died.” Kagome said sadly.
“My apologies” he said gruffly. Then he seemed to notice Sango for the first time, a smirk graced his lips and he looked Sango up and down, his eyes lingering a little too long on her breasts.
“And who is this?” he said huskily. Kagome scowled a bit and out of the corner of her eye she saw Sango’s fist clench.
“This is my cousin Sano, her mother died so now she lives with me, I was thinking she could join.” Kagome shrugged. Jesuki nodded, his perverted smirk still on his face. He made a sweeping motion with his hands.
“After you Ladies.” He chuckled.
“Um, that’s ok Jesuki we can get there ourselves.” Kagome said a bit uneasily. Jesuki’s smile fell, he had obviously been looking forward to watching the girls asses as he walked behind them.
“Fine.” He all but growled and slunk back into the shadows. Kagome looked to Sango who gave her a reassuring nod. Slowly, through the darkness, they made their way to the warehouse.
Finally, they reached the old building, Kagome felt an involuntary shiver run up her spine as she approached the large metal door—the entrance to The Den. Using the flat of her hand she gave two long knocks, six short and then one long. There was a long pause and finally the door creaked open. Kagome found herself starring down the barrel of a gun, she gave an exasperated sigh. Kagome looked up into the eyes of Chinzinki, she lowered her gun, a slight scowl on her face.
“Bout time you showed up.” Chinzinki said airily as she flipped her dark green hair over her shoulder. Chinzinki was tall, gorgeous and deadly. A dangerous combination, although she fit in well with The Pack. Strangely though, Kagome had never seen Chinzinki with any male companions. ‘Probably because her attitude scares them all off, that and her gun.’ Kagome thought wickedly. Although Chinzinki WAS beautiful, she was-to put it simply- a bitch. The biggest stuck up bitch Kagome had ever known in fact.
“Who’s she?” Chinzinki said, waving a manicured hand in Sango’s direction, while managing to look at Sango like she was dirt.
“This is my cousin Sano, she wants to join.”
“Oh yea? Bet you she wouldn’t even last a day.” Chinzinki purred.
“I bet you’re wrong.” Kagome said smiling widely. Chinzinki had the best shot in The Pack, and whenever someone new wanted to join she would always challenge them to a shooting contest.
“Right, whatever. . .” Chinzinki said, eyeing Sango like she was sizing her up.
“Bet you cant shoot for shit.” Chinzinki said flipping her dark green hair over her shoulder and cocking an elegantly curved eyebrow.
“I don’t think so Chinzinki, Sano knows how to use a gun, her father was a hunter before he died.”
“Yea, he’d take me out hunting everyday, I’ve got a pretty good shot.” Sango said softly. Kagome smiled inwardly- Sango was obviously going for the ‘meek and innocent’ role. And she was doing a pretty damn good job of it too/
Chinzinki’s face faltered for a second.
“Fine, You and me, in the gunroom.” Chinzinki growled softly. Kagome shook her head, free tendrils of hair slapping her face lightly.
“Not now Chinzinki, we need to talk to Kouga, she’ll take you on after that.”
Chinzinki nodded and moved out of the way. “He’s in the burrow.” Chinzinki said lightly as they passed, a slight smile on her face. Kagome nodded as she walked past Chinzinki, Sango kept her eyes downcast. They walked down the long hallway, wood floor creaking under foot. The place was damp, beads of water rolled down the sides of the cold stone walls. The hallway was long, with many doors leading to even more rooms. Finally Kagome stopped in front of a door towards the end of the hall. Light poured out from under the crack and laughing and noise could be heard coming from inside. Kagome put a hand on the door hesitantly and braced herself. ‘Would he know? Would he be able to tell?’ Kagome shook her head as she opened the door, a bright smile on her face.
