Chapter One: Nisou
"Everyone stand back!" a girl with black hair yelled.
"Nani?!" a villager asked. He looked around and saw nothing.
"Do you dare ask me? I am the priestess of this village! Just trust me and if you want everyone to survive, tell them to stand away from here!" she ordered the man.
He new better then to defy the great priestess. He should be grateful that she actually lives here to help us. He quickly nodded and scurried away, telling everyone to get away.
Everyone was also confused, but they just listened to the man and moved back.
The ground started to move and rumble. "EARTHQUAKE!" a woman yelled in a panicky voice. Everyone else was also in chaos now, adding the priestesses warning and the woman's shrieking, it seemed that no one knew what was going on.
Then a kumo youkai bursted from the ground. The nisou quickly started shooting her arrows at it. Everyone as mesmerized and a little frightened. Mesmerized by the arrow's aura and frightened by the demon.
One of the arrows hit a leg and an arm. The kumo youkai was moving from side to side, but it didn't take long before the nisou was down. Everyone cheered for her and was happy to know that it was finally over.
But that was only the beginning of everything. She walked into her hut to be greeted by her little sister.
"Onee-sama! Sugoi! I saw everything from the window! When are you going to teacher me how to do that?" the little girl asked curiously. The little girl had a patch over her eye from an accident from before, but you could tell that the little girl was as beautiful as her older sister.
"Arigatou Kaede-chan." Her older sister said to her, beaming.
The nisou was about to sit down when a man burst into their hut.
"Gomen ne, Kikyou-sama, but there are a few demon slayers outside requesting you." The villager said out of breath.
"It's fine. Thank you and tell them I will be there shortly please." Kikyou said to him sweetly with a smile.
The man blushed and quickly went outside to tell the demon slayer.
"Onee-sama, why was that man's face red?" Kaede asked, curiously.
Kikyou chuckled at her little sister's question. "Maybe it's because he likes me." She teased.
Kaede's eyes widened. "He's not going to marry you is he? He looks too old for you-" Kaede was cut off by Kikyou.
Kikyou was giggling a lot now. "Kaede, I was just kidding. You take things too seriously for your age."
"And you take things to….unserious…for your age." Kaede shot back.
They looked at each other for a few seconds, then they burst out laughing.
"Okay Kaede, I have to go see the famous demon slayers now. Come on." Kikyou said, urging Kaede to follow her.
They both went outside to see a crowd gathered around in a circle. It looks like everyone forgot about the demon attack. Kikyou thought to herself, sweat dropping.
She squeezed herself to the center of the crowd and saw the demon slayers. Some of them were young and some of them were older, though there were only a small amount of them.
"Sumimasen minna. I didn't mean to make you wait for so long." Kikyou apologized to the leader.
The leader looked at Kikyou and smiled. "It's okay. It didn't take that long, but it is an honor to finally meet the infamous nisou we have heard about." He praised.
Kikyou blushed a little out of flattery and said, "It's nothing. However, what business do you have with me? I know that it has nothing to do with demons, am I correct?" she asked.
"Of course not, but….do you mind of I talk to you in private?" he asked, looking around at everyone.
"It's fine, we can go back to my hut and talk privately." She said, leading him away from the crowd. "Kaede-chan?" Kikyou asked.
"Hai?" Kaede asked.
"Can you go play with the other children while I talk to the leader?"
"Hai onee-sama." Kaede said and walked away.
They walked into the hut and sat down on the floor.
"I need to ask you to help me with an important task." He said in a hushed whisper.
"What is it?" Kikyou asked, concerned by his rushed talking.
"…Have you ever heard of the Shikon no Tama?" he asked with his eyes down.
"No, I have not. But what does this have to do with me?" she asked.
"I will tell you what the Shikon no Tama is, and it has everything to do with you." He said. "The Shikon no Tama is a jewel that has a great power that can grant anyone a wish. If it falls into a demon's hand, they can use the power to grow stronger or use it for their own selfish needs.
This has everything to do with you because we cannot protect the jewel from every demon that comes and I have heard great stories about you from other villagers where they say that you are the most powerful priestess that anyone knows, and we were hoping that you are able to help protect the jewel and purify it for as long as you can. Please, you must help us, if you don't, we do not know what will happen to the world."
Kikyou listened to his dilemma and thought about it. The way he talks about the jewel, it seems that it has a great deal other power that could put our world in destruction. Kikyou thought.
"I will help you. It seems like I have no choice if I want to protect everyone I love, right?" Kikyou said, trying to make a small joke out, but the man was not laughing.
"Yes, it is true. I am sorry that we have to ask you this, but we have no one else to turn to." He said, his voice sounds like it was straining.
"It's fine. Where is the jewel right now?" Kikyou asked curious as to how it looks.
He hesitated, but took it out carefully. He presented it to her. He unfolded the silk cloth surrounding the jewel and gave it to her.
Kikyou looked at the jewel, her body mesmerized by how the jewel looked like.
"I can see why all the demons would want it. Even if you look at it, it's feels like it's calling you." Kikyou said.
"Yes that's why it's dangerous." He said.
"I'll help you protect it." Kikyou said confidently.
"Arigatou gozaimasu. I am in your debt." He said standing up.
They both stood up and bowed to each other and went outside. He walked back to his horse and climbed on.
"Watashi wa Takada desu." He introduced himself.
"I'll protect it with my life Takada-sama." She said in gratitude.
"Arigato Kikyou-san. Sayonara." He waved and galloped away.
"Sayonara Takada-sama." She said back.
She waved until he was out of sight, then she turned around to find Kaede.
This is only the beginning of the end. I wonder how long this will take until it's over. Maybe never. She thought to herself. But she never knew how right she was…

A/N: I don't know if I should discontinue my other fics….plz review to this story…I might have fun writing this too ^^
Nisou means priestess…though I am going to use the term miko later on, since I think the term would work better when she's actually protecting the jewel.
