A/N: I must apologize to all the fans of this story about my delay, my huge delay. Here is ch. 8, and 9 is coming tomorrow. Peace.

Rin wiped the sweat from her forehead with her silk hand towel. She had been traveling for three days and was so tired she could just have fallen asleep at that moment. But her surrounding environment kept her wide-awake. She was at the poor part of town; it was smelly, dirty, and everyone had no manners. She was sitting at a dingy bar catching her breath. A waitress came bustling towards her carrying a mirror in one hand and a pad in another. Rin looked up at her and almost fell from her chair. She was child! And a freaky looking one! Her hair was a blinding white, as well as her clothes. She was wearing a dress that covered her probably white shoes. The strangest thing about her was her eyes, which were a very, very bright blue.

"May I help you?" her voice was high-pitched and very robot sounding. Rin shook her head and kept it down, hidden under the brim of her beret. The girl walked away to the next table. Then, something happened that Rin would never forgive herself for. A large and beefy man came stomping from behind the counter and smacked the pad from the girl's hands.

"You stupid little fuck! I told you that nobody says no to an order in my bar! They buy or leave! Now go to that cheap ass customer and get an order NOW!" he turned and stomped back behind the counter. The girl just picked up the pad and walked back to Rin.

"I'm sorry." she said in a whispery voice. The girl made her first face expression, a confused one.

"You're not from around here are you?" she asked. Rin shook her head, begging in her mind that she didn't discover her rich roots.

"Yes you are. My mirror is telling me you're from the rich part, but you're traveling to save your friend aren't you?" the little girl asked again. Rin grabbed the girl's shirt collar and pulled her down to her face.

"I'm not from around here! You got it! Not get me a beer. Light please." she growled. The girl scrambled off, and Rin felt the guilt creeping into her mind, but she had to keep her cover. Seconds later she was back carrying a very dusty glass of beer towards her. Rin watched in disgust as she set it down on the table.

"Do you live here little girl?" she asked quietly.

"Yes, I do but with my big brother. My name is Kanna." she answered as she walked off to take another order. Rin jumped up from her table and left in a rush. She stopped outside to take a breather and re-collect her thoughts.

"That poor girl. How could anyone do that? Has he even heard of child labor laws! Well Rin, looks like you're going to have a travel companion." She thought. Gathering up all of the toughness she had, she marched back in, calling for a waitress. Kanna came back, and asked her if she'd like anything as if Rin never came in until now.

"Hey kid. Why do you work here?" she muttered. Kanna was silent for a moment, and then answered.

"He is my uncle. My parents' died in a car crash and the closest living relative was him. I have no other choice." She whispered back. Rin shook her head in disgust.

"Family or not, you should not have to put up with this! I can help you escape."

"Why would you want to help me?"

"Because I used to be an orphan. My parents were killed by wolf-demons. I know it's hard to move on, and you need the comfort of someone who understands. Your uncle could care less about whether you drop dead this instant."

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying I want you to travel with me. It may not sound like a good idea, but it'll be adventurous and dangerous and anything you've ever dreamed of doing. I can tell that you have an adventurous look in you eye."

"Are you going to ask me to find your friend Kagome? Because I can lead you to the boat."

"Sure. Just slip-what?" Rin looked at the little girl as if she was some sort of angel. How did she know about her quest? Rin was about to ask when a bottle of beer crashed right behind her head. Both girls checked the bar and found out that a bar fight had begun.

"C'mon kid, let's go!" Rin hollered. Kanna untied the small apron that went around her waist, but tucked the pad and pen into her pocket before following Rin. She clung to her mirror as she swerved in between crushing bodies, ducked under flying arms and jumped over the people who were out cold and littering the floor. She finally reached the Western-like swinging doors and rushed through glad to finally be away. Rin was waiting for her across the street, fastening her bag that was slung across her shoulder. Kanna was so close to Rin, but suddenly she stopped. Her mirror was glowing red, and that meant something bad because she turned and ran back into the bar.

"Kanna! What are you doing!?" Rin yelled. She followed the white-haired girl back into the mess of drunken men and screaming strippers. She finally found her kneeling beside a body that had glass going straight through it's head. The body was a woman with white hair just like Kanna's, blue eyes just like Kanna's and the same facial expression just like Kanna's. Rin knelt down next to her, unsure of what to do or say.

"Who is this?" she finally asked.

"Mommy. She is calling to me." Kanna put her hand on the woman's hand and suddenly her head was thrown back, white light shooting from her eyes and mouth. The bar fight stopped immediately, to stare at the spectacle. The light beams shot up until they hit something solid and once they did, fire broke out. Everyone made a mad scramble for the door, but Rin grabbed Kanna and headed towards the window. She lifted her out of the bar, and then threw herself over. Kanna was crying blue tears when Rin had hit the ground.

"Kanna! It wasn't your fault. Well, it may have been, but-I'm not sure, but we need to leave now!" pulled Kanna's arm until the little girl finally stood up. Rin took a heavy hooded-sweater from her bag and slung it over Kanna, she knew that the people who escaped the bar would be after her. She guided her down the street, not stopping even when people asked what had happened. Rin needed a place to stay for the night, but it had to be at least a mile away from the downtown area. They walked to a nearby bus terminal and waited for the next bus. In the meantime, Rin planned to get some quick answers. Kanna spoke up before Rin even opened her mouth.

"I am part devil, and part human. My devil side was the light you saw at the bar. My parents were both priest, but my mother had a little devil in her. When I was born all of her evils became my misery, but without it she began to go crazy. She killed my father in his sleep with the same light. I was rescued by a local villager and taken to the church. My mother's true side came out and she was after my power and me. She never loved me for me. She couldn't get inside the church because of the holy aura that surrounded it. But eventually, she had blown up the church and devoured me. The funny thing about offspring of powerful people, they become even more powerful. My mother exploded from within and I was floating above town with the white light. I was chased from the village and I ended up working here for my "uncle"."

"But what's up with the mirror?"

"It's my mother's soul. She can control me like a game when it turns blue. And she was telling me to kill everyone around me. I can't control myself when I listen to her cries. And incase you're asking, I am also part gypsy and I can read your future, your past and your mind."

"Wow. You're pretty powerful. Don't worry though; I'll help you control your power. Every time it turns blue flip it over so that you don't look into it." Rin smiled. A large blue bus pulled up in front of them and they boarded it.

"Where are we going now?" Kanna asked as she sat down.

"To a decent five-star hotel. Trust me we'll need the rest because we're traveling all day tomorrow. Oh, and before I forget; my name is Rin."
