The moon came out and made the water of the hot springs completely white. Sango laid back, her hair up, against one of the big rocks, soaking in the water. Kagome had already joined her and left, falling asleep in her hut with InuYasha. Since they started ‘dating’, he had become more possessive of her than he already was. He loved that miko, it was obvious. Although he didn’t admit it, he was still scared that a demon might try and take her away.
Miroku was close by. Unknown to Sango, he was watching her, taking in the beauty he had loved for so long. Since Naraku was dead, and his future was sure, he knew as well as she did that the promise she made to him would soon be fulfilled. He didn’t rush her, or even talk about it much. He feared pressuring her would make her nervous. It made him nervous just thinking about it.
Sango dunked her head under the water and came back up, still oblivious to Miroku’s presence. She reached over for the pink bottle of shampoo Kagome left for her, and began to lather her hair. He smiled and went inside to their separate hut, grabbing his white kimono he always wore for praying. He walked back outside, and this time approached the springs directly, waiting to be noticed. When Sango failed to notice him after five minutes, he cleared his throat and kneeled down near the edge.
... “Sango?” Sango gasped and turned to the houshi, covering her chest with her arms underneath the water. She didn’t throw anything or slap him like she used to, but sat there, regaining her breath.
... “Sorry. Did I scare you?” Miroku asked. Sango laughed lightly.
... “Only a little. What is it, Miroku?”
... “I was only curious as to how long you’ll be using the springs. Soon, I would also like to enjoy the water.” Sango smiled and blushed a little, thinking of Miroku sitting in the spring, his hair loose, looking cute as always. Her thoughts went back to reality, and she nodded.
... “I’m almost done. I’ll be out in exactly a minute.” Miroku nodded and walked over to a tree, now focusing on his prayer beads. Why did he still wear them? Sure, he was a monk. They were only there for the Wind Tunnel, which was now gone. They made a nice accessory, along with the purple glove. Miroku chuckled and soon heard Sango getting out of the water. When he turned, she already had her pink kimono and green skirt on. She locked eyes with Miroku and smiled.
... “It’s all yours. I’ll be inside with Kirara.” Miroku nodded and walked over, starting to slowly undress as Sango walked into the hut to join her neko.
Sango laid down on the bed roll she always used, which was now placed exactly next to Miroku’s, leaving no space between the rolls, or them when they slept. Kirara was asleep next to the fire that burned, purring lightly. Sango smiled and started to think of Miroku as she tied her hair up. She loved him, and she had admitted such a secret to the houshi after they had defeated Naraku. That was also the day she had openly kissed the monk in front of the hanyou and small miko. That day brought them closer, for that moment defined their future. Some day, Sango was to begin bearing children for Miroku. That was a promise she was sure to keep. Like Miroku predicted, she was nervous, but she had always wanted to share more than just a bed with him. She had some unlady-like dreams and thoughts of the houshi touching more than just her rear. Her thoughts were cut short when Miroku walked in, closing the door and sitting in his usual spot against the wall, sutra in hand.
... “I’m going to pray a little first before I join you in bed, Sango,” he announced. Sango nodded, understanding, turning to watch Miroku begin his nightly ritual. Miroku closed his eyes and started praying softly, mainly asking for the usual things he always desired - safety of his friends, especially Sango. After a fifteen minute session, Miroku put away his sutra and walked over to Sango, who positioned herself back to her original stance, watching as Miroku grabbed a blanket and covered them both as he laid down. Sango wiggled against him, putting her head on his shoulder. Miroku wrapped his arm around Sango, smiling down at her. She smiled back, and yawned a little.
... “I think it’s time to retire, don’t you think so?” he asked. She nodded, and reached up. Their lips met, and when the light kiss ended, Sango closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep. Miroku soon joined her, falling asleep to the crackling of the fire, which eventually died down.
